  1. In a word -------------------FUN yes it is heavier, the 2028 is over a kilo on its own No vids, have only taken it out twice so far, Work gets in the way Have only driven it across a grassy field, no jumping, the added weight high up in the chassis will probably effect balance when it comes to flying.
  2. I am running 54 spur with 32 pinion according to Big Squid RC the stock Xmaxx tops out at 32mph using my calculator ( excel work book calculations) my 54spur with 32 pinion gives me 34mph on 6s, and 45mph on 8s your 50spur and 49pinion works out at 56mph 6s and 75mph 8s so your real speed of 50mph equates to my calculated 56mph (my calculator is a little off, doesn't take in friction or drag) Tried my X on 6s then 8s today. 6s did seem to be about the same speed as a stock set up On 8s the tyres were just starting to balloon as it reached top speed I haven't got any real GPS speeds Yet I have ordered a 44pinion and a 47 pinion from Kershaw
  3. NG15, I went for the larger motor and esc, as i feel the X is crying out for more power. Ordered the castle combo from tower hobbies, Its where i got a lot of the X parts from. Didn't pay for faster postage from kershaw, but I did order it 2 weeks ago, no point for fast postage when i didn't even have a complete truck yet
  4. The pins in the cvd are held captive by the bearing, so shouldn't be able to move, maybe its dry, need some lube?
  5. That motor is rated to 50volts, so i doubt it will over heat on 6s or 8s, Although there isn't any airflow in the X chassis
  6. probably not, as its still winter. But as they came included in the kit, I might as well fit em
  7. I am using the Kershaw mount used an extension cable on the esc , so i can quickly unplug it to use the castle software
  8. Ran a set of 5000mah 3s traxxas batteries though my 15/54 geared truck today, Truck runs well over rough ground, and is fun to drive, But on the straight I fell it needs more speed. So, out came the 1600v motor and in went the 2028/ xlx set up. unfortunately i ordered the 32t pinion (should have ordered the 44 or 47) truck is a lot happier with the big motor, and I am rather pleased with the set up now. Will order larger pinions, as the torque is available to power them easily. also have a couple of 4s batteries coming from hobbyking, so should make things more interesting
  9. Well my X is finally built standard 1600kv motor 15 pinion 54 spur, esc is borrowed from my emaxx, runs ok on 6s, but needs more speed
  10. I see you are adding fans to aid cooling, just wondered how good the bec is on that esc, have they posted the amps that bec supplies

bah stupid edit function traxxas really need to change out this sub standard esc before more people find issues

I am an Electrician by trade. All fuses are installed and are designed to protect equipment when a fault occurs. overload= blown fuse short circuit= blown fuse the esc should NOT have gone POP for the fuse to blow, That is a terrible design too high a current drawn over a short period should make it blow before the esc overheats ( should have said overloads not over heats)

ideally the fuse should be fitted in to the positive lead, but still does the same job on the middle wire

    Traxxas X-Maxx.

how is it not in the main circuit?
  15. ukfox

    Traxxas X-Maxx.

Surely the fuse should blow before the esc fails? fuses are used to protect equipment, they are the weakest link in a circuit.

Check your diffs for oil. I bought 1 diff premade, it was low on oil, Have filled mine 30k front and 50k rear. standard is 10k front 30k rear also topped up the pair of front shocks, mine were a little low And check the slipper for tightness

where is the Fun in that?, I am not one to sit and twiddle my fingers, waiting as traxxas might deliver my truck this week Also i didn't get the cheap preorder price, but the £760 price, so it not that bad

Any one know what amps the fuse is? also is it replaceable or replace the complete wire. I see this fusable link going out of stock very quickly if thats the case. A fuse is an old school safety feature, if the esc was up to the job it would not need a fuse It should have a built in circuit breaker that can be reset, if it was modern solution, (again if esc was upto the job it wouldn't be needed)

Yes standard drive shafts until MIP bring out upgrades. standard motor with castle xlx, then try 2028 with kershaw mount As to wheels will go with standard, I have some 40 series wheels from proline here with trenchers on, they don't fit over the steering hubs. The internal size on the standard wheels must be huge

I think I am up to £800 so far, that with some customs fees. Still have wheels, body, castle xlx esc, 2028 and a kershaw mount to come probably going to be nearer £1200 with the motor esc combo. Will try running standard motor on 6s then 8s, then after I cook the motor fit the 2028, experimenting is fun

So glad I cancelled my preorder, I ordered spare parts from tower hobbies and got bits off of eBay dismantlers. Currently have all the plastics, and main drive train. Have used stainless screws, hate the rusty look. Rest of the parts that should be here in a week or so. Only part I haven't bought yet is the body shell Looks like my x-maxx will be the first to run in the UK lol

I see you can buy the outer casing of that servo separately. part no 2086 I am sure it won't be long before someone finds a better servo (without plastic gears) that you can just change the outer casing on

After a lot of thinking I too have Cancelled my order, (I didn't get the low offer deal). Issues with the truck, and Traxxas not being forth coming with information didn't help. Have decided instead to buy parts for the truck and make my own, over time. ( i'm not in a hurry) .Yes it may possibly cost me more in the long run. This way I can fit the Electronics and upgrades that I want. Have built a few E-maxx trucks up with FLM parts and other upgrades. I usually build Kits, never really liked RTR stuff, building/upgrading is more fun
