    Traxxas X-Maxx.

I think it is a plastic fantastic, although maybe not that fantastic I may buy one in time when it has been out for a while and can see what others have broken I am not that hard on RC cars BUT I can see bits breaking if I do some of the stuff with it that I have done with buggies,I get you need to use it 'in scale" with it's size but where is the fun in that
  2. I don't doubt that is what it says but that is wrong
  3. Well 3.0 equals .18 so somewhere someones math is wrong http://www.hpiracing.co.uk/piw.php?partNo=110660
  4. I believe it is a .18 not a .15
  5. Rather bizarre though, two servo failures out of the box,you have to be the single most unlucky person in the world for that to be the case!

    Traxxas X-Maxx.

Is part of the potential problem that the Traxxas batteries are quite a low C rating, would that cause them to overheat and the connectors fail?
  7. I would suggest 3 scenarios 1.Re-read the instructions and got it working. 2.Went back to shop and found them closed. 3.Went back to shop and got it going and out enjoying it
  8. Anyone know of some UK shops that still have them at the cheap price?
  9. How long is "a while" ? Had it actually been broken in? If it had been left at TDC with some fuel still in it there is a chance it could have some rust in there causing a tight spot. Nitro fuel actually attracts water to it.
  10. The charger will reduce the charge rate right down as the battery gets to being full. It wont charge it at 4.2a right to the point of it being full. You can stop it and start again at 4.2a but it will drop right down within a few seconds. The fact that the battery appears to be quite out of balance is another issue though.
  11. There are still some kicking around Would have thought most of the major 5ive parts would fit anyway.
  12. buy the Losi 5ive Mini other than it being quite ugly Wanted the most bang for my buck as it were but cant quite stretch to a regular 5ive.
  13. Mmmm, makes you wonder why HPI put a single deans connector on the 5B Flux though doesn't it
  14. Yes but I doubt it is bound correctly in the first place or it has got messed up whilst you have been trying to set the failsafe hence me saying trying to bind it again. That is the first step, disconnect both servos for now and just see if you can get the transmitter and receive to "talk" to each other and then plug the steering servo into channel one and see if that is working.
  15. Start at page 55,make sure the trims etc are set where the instructions say. DONT try and set the failsafe initially, just try the re-binding on page 56 Notice the part that says binding might take longer if there is interference around, not noticed it myself before but it must be there for a reason
  16. Can you clarify what model you have from the links I posted.
  17. Not at all! You need to understand the problem you have at the moment before adding more confusion! Also the car will have to be partly dismantled to fit a kill switch as it needs to be connected directly to the engine as well as wiring into the receiver,at the moment you are having problems without it so I wouldn't add it to the mix just yet. Is this EXACTLY what you have, there have been several Baja versions over the years with different controllers so we need to be 100% sure. http://www.hpiracing.co.uk/piw.php?partNo=113141 or is it this one, link to instruction manual http://www.hpiracing.com/assets/documents/instruction_manuals/115891_vol04_baja_5b_2.0_rtr_060115.pdf
  18. As others have said the failsafe is pretty useless,it offers next to no protection. If the throttle servo jams in an open position the car will virtually be out of control, you could steer but thats all,you need to be able to stop the engine remotely and the failsafe does not give you that security. To be responsible you need to fit a kill switch ASAP more so if you run anywhere near people.
  19. Yes RTR does mean that in that it requires no building but there is still a need to set it up. You are responsible for something that could literally kill, you need to know how it works and what everything does, trying to get running quickly and skipping steps is dangerous. Can you maybe clarify exactly what car you have with a picture of it or the box or instructions so we can be sure of what we are dealing with?
  20. Unikely,no offence but I think it is your understanding that is more likely to be at fault.

    Traxxas Aton.

I know the controller isn't everything but if it looked more like a "traditional" controller I might be slightly more impressed, only slightly as the whole thing is very toy looking to me,certainly wouldn't be high on my list of ones to buy at that asking price.

Biggest problem for me is the controller looks like it belongs on a £50 toy yet it isn't priced as such
  23. I would suggest you start again, you have got mixed up somewhere. The failsafe will default to whatever setting you set it at in the first place so at some point you must have had the steering turned and set that as a failsafe position rather than setting the failsafe for the throttle. I would also make 100% certain you have the right wires into the receiver, despite what people think the steering is usually channel 1 on the receiver and the throttle is channel 2

Well I think the day that a bullet proof RC is released we should all give up on the hobby

86 pages of pretty much speculation? Is that a record
