to be honest for bashing 1/10 electric oli would recommend a traxxas bandit there really robust, and kyosho rb6 are good but can be expensive... And the rb6 is a competition buggy not a basher really.
I had a brushless vantage and it was crap, it chewed up drive shafts and spur gears constantly, and the plastic was really soft like cheese, would avoid at all cost's, you be better with a traxxas bandit buggy brushed our brushless version for bashing, there really robust and can take a beating...
Had the same problem with the 8awg wire, deans are difficult anyway, I switched to xt60 connectors which are much easier to solder even with 8awg wire... I think 8awg is a bit much to be honest..
Hope this helps you out
Dan...
You need the etronix program card to change the lipo cut off, here is a link to modelsport uk,
http://www.modelsport.co.uk/etronix-photon-sbs-led-programming-card-2.1w-1-8th-/rc-car-products/385693
I had this problem when I got mine, it could be another componant causing this, make sure your main drive shaft is not bent our bukled , and that your grub screw is on the flat part of the slipper shaft, look at the car from above and hold one rear wheel wheel turning the other one, and see I've the shaft is straight. Good luck....
Do you run it through very thick grass at all, that can be a over heating issue, what is the esc you have upgraded to, does this esc not have a fan built it in...esc units do fail sometimes.
Have you altered the pinion gear size to a bigger one, as you mentioned a heat issue, also rc cars do got quite warm, brushed motors do get a bit hotter than brushless, the starting a stopping could be a signal issue between your radio gear, the speed controllers do have a safety cut of so it can't over heat and fry your electrics... Hope you sort it
Hi guys,
I have problem with my center drive shaft on my ftx vantage,
The pins at each end keep dropping out,
Any help would be appreciative...
Cheers....
I've your lipo case has been damaged by moving around while bashing, try wedging a battery sponge in there I've there is room.... To take up the slack...
Hi there, got the same car, I've converted to 2wd and it's great, I like to tinker a lot with things , I'm running the stock esc and motor, also carbon top plate and sus mounts to, just put some sway bar set on to, they do make it more stable...
I've a got vantage, it's got a few upgrades, like carbon top plate , front and rear carbon sus mounts and I've got the faster servo up front, and few other little fixes.... Overall a good biggie for the money... You can race it to but would advise some upgrades first.
Ill be honest the b4 is a great car, but with the vantage I've it can survive a standard club race that's ok for me, and yeah it does have some weak spots for sure, but I'm practising when I can....
Yeah I know what you mean the plastic on the vantage is quite soft and bendy, were as say the b4.2 buggy's are quite rigid in regards the chassis anyway...
