  1. As much as the 1/5 wheels/tires don't balloon as much, they have plenty of mass to them, so making mid air corrections is still nice and easy.
  2. I'm not on FB, but I agree at first the wheels/tires look odd, but they start to grow on you. They are nearly the same height wise, but obviously width wise they are lacking. The tires/foams are definitely stiffer than the factory ones, which to me is a good thing. Seems to handle better off-road as well as on-road.. Mostly probably because they don't balloon nearly as much as the stockers do. I'm not jumping garages or houses, but I've had no issues jumping with these wheels.
  3. If anyone is interested, here's a couple pics of my truck running knockoff 1/5 scale proline trenchers. Fronts are 75x195 rears 80x195. There's a guy on ebay selling adapters. Truck seems to handle much better at higher speeds. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  4. Very interesting. Thanks for the info. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  5. Your running the center different setup right? Unless your telling me the leopard motor fits in the stock mount? Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  6. So 4s won't be as fun as it is with the savage flux? I guess 5s or 6s will be the ticket then. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  7. I'm confused. Isn't it called the super 5sc flux? Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  8. I kind of bought it as an impulse. I always wanted one. I've been checking ebay and this one popped up. After seeing the other new in box one selling for almost $1400 I figured I had to grab this one. My savage flux is one of my favorite all time trucks. I honestly have done nothing to it other than upgrade the steering servo. I hope this truck is equally as fun. How does this truck compare to the savage flux when running on 4s? I always found 4s to be plenty fast enough and not to the point of destruction 6s brings about. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  9. New but out of the box for $1400. I picked up mine factory sealed for $900 us. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  10. I'm from the US and just picked up a brand new 5sc flux. It's been discontinued here for a few years here from my recollection. I'm just curious what you guys were picking them up for new when they were in stock. I just saw another new one sell on ebay for $1400. By that mark I feel like I got a decent deal at $900. Looking forward to the huge box coming in the mail. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  11. What size pinion/spur are you running? and are you running 6s or 8s? I'm running a 2028/xlx combo with a 49t pinion and 50t spur. I maxed it out yesterday just above 50mph or 81kph. Just wondering how your setup performs with the smaller pinion/spur?
  12. That means........... an X-maxx owner called Castle creation and asked what they though about putting a 1717 in the X-maxx, and they advised against it......further explaining that it wouldn't be an upgrade from the stock motor. Like anything else, I don't know if that's a factual statement or not. Just sharing information I saw on the Traxxas forum. I agree with your point that the ESC seems to be the problem child of the X-maxx. Many owners including myself have had great luck switching to the Castle Monster X ESC. I have since gone to the dark side of the 2028/xlx.
  13. A member on the traxxas forum said he called castle and they advised against the 1717 saying that it wouldn't be an upgrade from the stock motor. Don't know if that's fact or not.

    Traxxas X-Maxx.

I've had my x-maxx for a while now (end of December). I have had zero problems with the stock power system, but I like many other can't leave well enough alone. I just added the Kershaw motor mount, 49t pinion, castle 2028, and xlx. I ran it this morning on 6s and all I can say is this setup is insane. It has crazy torque from the start all the way up to top speed. I ran it in front of my house and i clocked 43 mph, but I couldn't really top it all the way out so I'm guessing right around 45mph on 6s. Motor with no fan was at a little over 80f after hitting lvc on 8200mah packs. Outside temp was 50f. 8s is going to be stupid fast.......

    Traxxas X-Maxx.

I got the last dbxl conversions from kershaw a few weeks ago. I wonder if he's done making them?

Sorry, unfortunately I don't have any videos. Wish I was more into the video aspect of it, but nothing I have recorded has ever come out well.

I missed Horizon selling off the gas 8ight buggy and truggies I think by a day or 2. They were so cheap I figured why not. I had good luck with the gas xxl-2 monster truck after my first motor blew up. Oh well, probably better off I saved myself some aggravation. I still have my Octane though. I'm one of the few that never had an issue with the motor. It took more tinkering to get the 3-speed tranny shifting right. I will admit although I have had a lot of fun with it, It is a bit underpowered and heavy.

    Traxxas X-Maxx.

This is a message I got from the Traxxas forum after they deleted a bunch of my posts about the shipment hold-up being ESC related: " Speculation threads and posts like the ones you have been spamming the X-Maxx forum will be closed or deleted. Traxxas performs strict quality control checks on all products. X-Maxx is in high demand and will be available as future shipments are received and approved to ship. If you have questions about your Traxxas products, please contact our customer support team at 888-TRAXXAS. " What a joke.
  19. Yea, tower is showing order pending. But even with a coupon it's quite expensive.......tempting though.
  20. somehow I missed the introduction of the LRP pipe. It's out of stock everywhere here in the United States. Pretty steep price tag too. Any youtube videos? I can't seem to find any, but most of them aren't in English.

    Traxxas X-Maxx.

Man this thread got SUPER negative! I agree that a RTR actually should be READY TO RUN. But in my opinion, the nature/point of this hobby is to mess with/upgrade things to your liking or expectations. I had no issues with my ESC but I got the Mamba X anyway. When I got my DBXL I ran a couple of tanks and then got a pipe and 30cc motor. It's the nature of the beast. Some people like stock, and some people like messing with things..... like myself. Hopefully Traxxas will or maybe already did figure out what was causing the ESC's to go up in flames. I'm curios to see because according to their website another shipment is being sent out "at the end of January."

    Traxxas X-Maxx.

Honestly I am really happy with my X-MAXX. I do agree that you shouldn't have to buy a different ESC for a brand new truck. I'm torn between selling the Traxxas ESC in an attempt to break even on the purchase of the Monster X or holding onto it and seeing how Traxxas remedies it. I have to run some more packs thru it, but my motor seems to be running much cooler with the Monster X. My only other mods are a castle motor fan and an 18t pinion. From my runs yesterday, my motor didn't go much over 100f with an outside temp of 50f. I usually hit around 140-150. Again I need to verify this with more run time. I'm just trying to throw a positive view on the truck out there from someone who has one. Most of the time you only hear the negatives on these forums.
  23. THREAD REVIVAL....... Anyone still have an Octane? Haven't run mine in a few months, but it's still in the fleet. Best mod I did was the HPI muffler adapter to put the stock baja muffler on the truck. I really didn't notice much difference in performance, and it just makes the truck a little more tolerable. It's quiet enough that I can run it around the house and in the yard now, while the stock pipe was way too loud.

    Traxxas X-Maxx.

I have made several vanishing posts over there as well. I just don't get it. If there is a problem and they are addressing why not get ahead of it and release a statement. Either way, them deleting threads and posts looks a lot worse to me. I haven't had any issues with the stock esc, but I figured I would give the mamba x a try and boy am I happy. The truck has much much more low end power. It seems like traxxas has programmed a bunch of punch control into the stock esc.
  25. losi actually specified 14:1 mix ratio, so there's plenty of oil in the mix. i can hardly imagine how it's a lubrication issue. Maybe the cdi needs a rev limiter.
