  1. Have you got any pics? What you were expecting to have to do sounds right. Have you definitely got the cover the right way around (ie male cover over male bullet)?
  2. Arse - ordered the wrong pinion and the one I need seems to be out of stock... patient wait for another few weeks. Grr
  3. All the soldering is done! Went for the option of not cutting or desoldering anything and will just cable tie the excess lead. All looks to be working, just got to wait until tomorrow to pick up the pinion to give it a proper test now!
  4. Cheers guys Not sure on the make of the iron, 60w. Had it a little while but rarely used. Gonna have to Google what you put there about rosin and flux to make sense of it!
  5. Basic! Soldered a few things in the past, nothing on the car, but never unsoldered. Is there a trick to it or just heat around the join and slowly pull / remove old solder?

  7. My new electric combo arrived today (tenshock sc411 and 120a hobbywing sc pro) and as this will be first soldering job thought I'd just check a few things. First, both the motor and esc have wires pre soldered. Would it be best to unsolder one and not use a connection or just solder in a connecter (I've got 4mm bullets I can use). If unsoldering is this easy and which one is best to do it on (can't see bare wire on motor so guess at esc?) Secondly, wiring the bullets (as will at least need this for battery), what are the little holes in the side of the connectors for? And is it just shrink wrap that holds the wire in place in the red casing? Cheers!

  9. Checked the motor today and its definitely caput. Took it out and with some assistance got it going in reverse (took a bit of a spin to start it off and it was slow before recovering), nothing going forwards though and when I put it in reverse again it started to crackle and smoke :-( Any thoughts? Is it worth enquiring about warranty? (only issue there would be that I bent the end of the shaft getting the glued pinion off)
  10. That's what i thought but battery was still about 95% charged and even tried connecting straight to motor to eliminate other electrics and still nothing. As I mentioned motor turns fine by hand or by pushing wheels
  11. Hi. Got a new rtr hyper tt recently, 13 turn brushed motor. Took it out tonight and hit a curb head on. Car initially drove away for a few feet later slowed and stopped. From a few initial checks it seems the motor has completely stopped working. Drive train etc all looks fine and motor will turn with the wheels so nothing looks jammed. Any thoughts as to what's happened? Can you kill a motor like that? And if so is it rescue able? Planned on moving to bl at some point so no great loss but would like to understand what/why if possible! Cheers
  12. Yes sorry I meant the tenshock one. For running on 2s would a 5400mah 50C constant (60C burst) be sufficient?
  13. Interesting. I'm looking at a similar combo for a 1/10 4wd. Had been thinking of the hobbywing sc8 coupled with a tekin 4400kv (sc401v2). Any one with experience of both care to offer an opinion?

  17. Noob question (sorry) but is the motor and the esc waterproof in the HW combo? Been following this for my own use and I can see in the item descriptions online that the esc is waterproof but nowhere seems to state about the motor? Do you get waterproof motors? I went for the brushed rtr version as it was gonna work out cheaper to get up and running than the roller so will look to drop in brushless combo (4000-5200kv I reckon) later in the year.   20. I've not had chance to properly run it yet, but for what it's worth I was very recently faced with the same choices and decided to go for the hyper tt.   22. If esc and motor are rated for 2s and 3s would running on a 3s battery with the max throttle toned down be similar to 2s running? I guess different gearing would be needed for 2s and 3s running but trying to see what lipos to buy to on a budget to give the option of running 2s and 3s performance.
