  1. Is the back pack the 22.8 litre size?
  2. Ok so to close this out, it turns out its the battery. Not sure what has happened but I put the radio gear into another car using the same battery and it developed the same fault, then tried different radio gear and had the same fault, then used a different battery...fault cleared and runs like new. So, Im guessing this is down to water ingress in the battery as the first few times i took it out it did get exceptionally wet!!!
  3. So, I have the choice of picking up either at the same cost...does anyone have any opinion on whats better bearing in mind: - its mainly for bashing in the park - there will be some occasional trips to the track but no racing - its for NIMH / Brushed use only - what more fragile ? - whats more expensive to repair ? - whats got more hop-up-ability? - both are ready to run ? All comments welcome
  4. Oops!!!! - Sorry mate - southerner here! In that case I might take him to the shop to see how he gets on with one first. Thanks for the advice btw!
  5. Out of curiosity how old was your daughter when she could use the trigger/wheel....my son is 4 and he can use the stick but doing steeering and throttle at the same time is a bit much for him. Given the wheel is more of a whole-hand movement if you know what I mean I thought it might be more intuitive for him to use but was worried about him getting his hand round the handle and to the trigger ? Are they that good ? I could be persusaded.....do they take a rechargeable NIMH pack ?
  6. Range ? I read another post like that, capped out at about 50 yards....Ill ask the seller about that. My brother and I were planning on getting a couple of DI's to take to a track (not for racing, just for fun) and at that price it seems like a bargain.
  7. Yeah back in the day I was a stick man so now I just figured I would carry on. Saying that I just missed a Dark Impact RTR on eBay inc 2.4 ghz controller by Spectrum for
  8. Or this if it's OK to run brushless with.
  9. Ok so I've not graduated to lipos yet so still running nimhs for convenience. I'm after a stick. Will probably go for this. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/core-rc-code-2.4ghz-3-channel-fhss-lcd-stick-combo/rc-car-products/38217
  10. Is this suitable? http://www.modelsport.co.uk/black-magic-tx-nimh-9.6v-aa-2000mah-square/rc-car-products/378841 I assume I can use me regular nimh charger to charge it?
  11. It's one of these but the next model up, bought from ebay in january. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/etronix-pulse-ex2g-2.4ghz-fsss-radio-system-stick-/rc-car-products/365980 So once I've tried another radio and it works, can these things be fixed or does it go in the bin and I buy a new one?
  12. ok gearbox stripped and put back together and different motor, still the same. Interestingly however, if i hold the throttle at 100% it jerks along intermittently giving power to the wheels but if I turn the car left the steering doesn't work!!! So it must be a fault with either the transmitter or receiver ? I shall try my brothers 27mhs system in there to see how it goes. One daft question, the transmitter has a battery meter on it, which usually reads 12volts (8 x 1.5 volt batteries), its down to three quarters on the bar and reading 9.9 volts.....surely the handset would still operate ? I might get some batteries and check tomorrow....I'm using the ones I got from with the car in January (bearing in mind Ive only run the car 8 times) if thats the the case I might have thought they would have lasted longer)
  13. Heya - quick bit of info needed from any Vantage owners.....me and my bro are looking at buying a couple of of RTR Vantage's from Model Sport for
  14. No, no spray can I use GT85 or something else ? I'm using a sports tuned motor ?
  15. ok will do, the ESC is lighting up as it should do when I hit fwd and reverse which is a good sign
  16. thats interesting if I take the motor out and run it there is no jerkyness and runs both fwd and reverse.....
  17. ok gone through the set up procedure again, still on reverse, went through the procedure to switch the reverse back on (not that I switched it off) and it worked whilst holding it. Took it back outside and going fwds it back to being jerky and pulsing again!
  18. I've had the receiver in a balloon and the esc in an ABS box mounted in the chassis to keep it waterproof......I'll try re setting the ESC and post back. Its an E-tronix Pulse...
  19. Hi, I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on my LB which seems to have developed some weird problems..Basically the following: - the car has been running fine until the weekend when all of a sudden the car seemed to be stuck in fwd so much so that I had to adjust the trim down about 30% to get to stay still. So then I adjusted this new setting to neutral turned it back on seemed fine and then it started going backwards so I had to adjust the trim to stay fwds to get it to stay still again. - holding the car in my hands if I hit the throttle to 100% it accelerates for a split second then goes dead, then accelerates then goes dead again and again and again etc. Like its very very jerky. I tried to run it outside and nada. - I charged the battery two days ago and it kicking out 6.5 volts, so I stuck it on my fast charger for 5 mins and now back to 7.2. Anyone got any idead ? ok now even weirder having just topped the battery up it run find fwd on centred trim but wont go backwards!!!!!!
  20. You know what....you're right. Have taken the damn FX10 off and chucked it in the bin....back to stock and looking for the next project!
  21. Ive just about finished my LB and have installed an FX10 double wishbone front end.....I cant quite get the spring / damping how I want it, which is firm but with a fast but not pingy (ok thats not a word but you know what I mean) rebound. At the moment I've got some 1000# grade Tamiya Oil in the CVA shocks using the collar with one hole in, its firm-ish but the rebound is slow. I need some help.... My understanding of these shocks is that the springs will determine stiffness and the damping of the rebound will be altered by the weight of the oil and the colar you insert into the shocks...ie one hole, two hole or three hole. I use the collar with three holes to let the oil flow back more freely am I just reversing the effects of the heavier oil ? I've not had a chance to take it out yet but I also think that using a heavier oil, i.e. slower damping, it should remove some of the inherrent bounciness and aid traction ? Has anyone experimented with different oil weights and if so what were the results ? Does anyone know if stiffer springs that will fit the CVA shocks ? I built a small jump last week and the front was bottoming out as I was hitting the ramp....hence trying to change this.
  22. Ok that's interesting I see a few boomerangs about and hot shots. What about The Fox?
  23. So on the vintage racing.... Any other tamiya aside from a hot shot worth while? Do u think it will be lipos or nimhs?
