Evening chaps, spent sunday/monday up at deerdale astro with my Tekno sct - it was only the third time that i've had it out and it gave me a couple of niggles..
For the record - It was hot, very hot! But I don't think that's what caused the problem!
On a couple of landings over a mild take off the car would just cut out? Then probably 1-2 seconds later - I had power again? It only seemed to be on a couple of landing spots around the track.
Sometimes i'd just lose throttle for say 0.5-2 seconds but then as the afternoon went on I would lose throttle all together. However when I walked over the collect the car the ESC was still running + if I simply turned it on/off I would regain all the controls again.
However before I packed up and went home I decided to try and conquer the big double that I hadn't managed to clear all day.
Cleared it first time but had to hit it absolutely flat out, keeping the throttle on max in the air to stop the nose dive, However second time around I did the same thing, kept it pinned in mid air, this time the landing was a tad heavier....when the car landed and I Came off the throttle a bit, the damn car ran away like a nitro does?! It then did this 2/3 more times?!
No i'm no expert but this has left me with no idea what is wrong with it!
A couple guys down there suggested a few things which we tried.
Firstly switching to my old radio gear as it appeared to be happening in only a few spots on circuit - eliminated this as was the same on my TF40 radio
Low voltage cut off on the ESC - something to do with under punch it may be cuting out? However we lowered this to 2.6v/cell and although it DID fix the issue for a bit, it still carried on cutting out
Bad lipos? however the 2x graphenes I used are only 20packs old each and I always balance charge - the two nanotech's I was using were brand new that weekend!
Dodgy connection between the battery/esc through my XT60 connectors? the XT60 on the ESC was a little loose so we wiggled the pin out a little and made the fitment nice and snug (before my connectors were sometimes popping off over jumps) however this made no difference.
Does anybody else have any suggestions as i'm totally stumped + know relatively little about electronics.
It's just strange how it didn't do it on track @ Ndor or east coast nitro the first two times I used it.
setup wise it's a Hobbywing WP SC8 ESC running a tenshock 4400kv 4 pole motor. Punch was on level 7 out of 9
Tturnigy batteries, all virtually brand new.
The only other thing I wasn't sure on was the wires from ESC > motor are very short but are still joined with bullets, because of the angle they were at I had to wrap some electrical tape around the bullets, again to stop them from working themselves apart slightly.
Any help will be appreciated as I'd like to take it out this weekend but A ) don't want to travel to find it's even worse or B ) end up having it run away flat out at max speed into a post!
Cheers guys,
