  1. Yes, I use the Answer ones which are serrated and use rubber washer to seal and add load. Still had one fly off, lol.

If it’s constantly on the same side (left I think usually) then it’s because they like to loosen themselves because of the way the wheel spins, Hobao sell some CNC hexes/nuts with left and right thread, get a set of them and it should be good

  2.
Thanks for the feedback as always, and I thought that it might be to much!

I was really wanting to be able to re-solder the wires on the motor if needed (I like my tidy short wiring!) but am I right in thinking that you can't do this on the Hobbywing EZRUN SL 5687-1100KV Motor?

    Ian...

Generally if the wires are flexible then they can be chopped and resoldered, if they are the thick copper wires then they can’t be chopped.....not sure if it’s due to the flow of electricity etc or if it’s due to the wires being a pig to resolder

Yeah that was what I was thinking, and the maintenance convenience is not of major importance to myself.

Yeah the CNC hinge pins are the other reason for me thinking of switching away...

    Ian...

Now I come to think of it, I used the newer version on my hyper 7MT build and on the first outing one of the front inner screws ripped out.....not sure if that was down to me using the wrong length screw on the rebuild but it is a potential problem.

Although if it were a major issue then I would imagine the would be a lot more posts about it

  4. And this week I learnt...

Previously all my Hyper 7 Diff cases have used pass through bolts into nuts:

But I have found out that the TQ 2  diff casing is threaded instead:

What are peoples thoughts on these two designs. I.e. Is one a lot stronger than the other?

    Ian...

The newer version is much more convenient for maintenance etc but in my opinion it will never be as strong as a nut and bolt going straight through.

Also I’m not sure what it means for the CNC hinge pin braces that have a hole in the front one and a threaded hole in the rear one.....can a bolt still pass through the new ones?

Ah well in that case, cheers mate, much appreciated [emoji106] . I guess i'm just too used to my buddies being sarcastic twits all the time [emoji39]

Oh nice one man, I hope that the thread is working for ya. It certainly did for me as I was umming and ahing about which truggy to get for quite a while and reading through this & seeing other peoples pictures & reviews really sealed the deal for me. So how come you have 4 of them? Are they all different builds from one another?

3 of them are my brothers and his two kids and the other one is my other nephews, they were last run about 5 years ago on the beach and weren’t cleaned or maintained at all so are in very poor condition......might be able to get two decent ones out of them hopefully [emoji23]

3 were factory brushless and one was brushed converted to brushless. The one brushed one was actually maintained alright and is possibly good to go but the others were trashed by my brother and his kids and are held together with duct tape and cable ties [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Not sure if you're just being a smart ass or genuinely trying to be helpful, but i'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Thanks, but yes I did know that. I wanted to support Modelsport & also get everything  delivered at once in a single parcel. Just makes it easier for me because I live in a rural area  & post is a bit sporadic.

I was being genuine mate, just trying to help for future reference and all that [emoji1303]

I have got 4 carnage’s in the shed in desperate need of a service so had a little read of this thread to try and spark my interest in fixing them [emoji23]

I've been waiting until the RW pinions were back in stock, so that I could buy it all in one go.
Well, now they are! [emoji16] Which is probably good news for some of you guys too, if you happen to own a Carnage & are in need of one.

Hoping that i'll get my delivery by friday [emoji1696]

You know rw has their own website you can order off?

  8. Yes from what I remember it is just the body that causes it, it can be helped by putting some vent holes in certain places to allow the air to flow through but I ended up going the complete opposite with it and getting the longer Hyper ST arms and a shorter Hyper 7 chassis to make it an MT.

Only used it once and it’s been sat in the man cave for 2 years or so gathering dust

  9. a very helpful chap has pointed out this motor the 540 has a 380 armature so does not have great torque, i will continue with going brushless, i am as well to keep this combo but just replace the motor with a proper 3650 around 3100-3300kv, by time i have paid to return the combo i might as well just buy the better motor

That is correct about them style motors but the brushless carnage comes with them too. Ideally a true 540 would be nice but that one you have there should do just fine as long as it’s geared correctly

  10. so it would seem i have bought the wrong motor for the carnage, and the ebay return process is proving a royal pain so lets just scrub the brushless and stick to brushed, i guess this can sit in a spares box for a few years

Why what’s wrong with it? KV might be a little higher than I’d want for a carnage but that can be compensated for by fitting a smaller pinion
  11. The reason i ask about these, i foolishly have bought 2 clones of the 1060 and both have failed, just worried the genuine one will go the same way

I have 2 of the clone ones in my spares box, haven’t used them yet but maybe I’ll not bother to save the hassle of having to change them again haha

  12. Got round to changing the fluid in the front diff of my Savage XS today, it now has 50k in both diffs.

Just need some good weather now to see how it drives.

I have just been rebuilding mine, it’s been in a box in bits for about 5 years [emoji23]

I went with 3k front and 7k rear I think.....still had the standard grease in them so either way it will be an improvement

I think I have a pair or slash shocks, not 100% if they are though.....definitely traxxas ones

  14. I’m no “Covidiot” as they say, not will I go and protest about wearing masks as I think that’s just down right silly.....I do however think that this whole COVID thing is a load of rubbish that the media and government has blown way out of proportion.

I may be wrong.....I have been before on the odd occasion [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
