  1. The TL01 Baja King or one of the very similar copies on ebay is a good starter and tough as old boots. It is wise to buy some decent backup batteries and a rapid charger that'll run from your cigarette lighter too. I'm not too experienced but I've learnt that with batteries you definitely get what you pay for and the Sanyo's (summat about 3700 m/amps)seem to last for a good time but they are relatively expensive. Great fun!... Your gonna need one for yourself too!..I couldn't stop meself! Happy spending!! Kev.
  2. Cheers for the advice about the spur gear Hpi_matrix_stock! At least it will take a slightly hotter motor tho which is pleasing as it'll save me spending out on another kit. I've just got a pair of 3600mh Sanyo batteries as once we go out maximum time is important for a quiet life. Thanks for the quick responce, much appreciated. Tank
  3. I've got a TL-01B Primarily for my lad for Christmas and I've already bought a full ball bearing kit for it, a anodized alloy spur gear, some uprated oil damped shocks and a GT tuned motor and speedo to go with it. He ain't even got it yet as it is a Chrimbo pressie! My question is.. What is the hottest motor that this will take with the upgrades I've got before it self destructs, should he become bored with the GT tuned motor. All comments appreciated, cheers, Tank.
  4. That is a serious piece of kit!! I'm looking forward to seeing the vid of it going if you get round to doing one! Tank.
  5. Great news!! I like watching the old ones they keep replaying... Saw the one with the amphibious vehicles again coupla nights back. The sight of that 250 horse outboard on the back of the hilux pickup cracks me up every time!! rofl
  6. Cheers fella's, Yeah Jake I have. I don't ride anymore due to all me joints falling to bits but I've still got a Moto Guzzi Lemans MK1 in mothballs and a Suzuki t125 Stinger. The bike that got me aquainted with tankslappers was an old 500 Benelli and that used to scare the c**p out of me! Nice stoppie in yer av chap!! Tank.
  7. Cheers for the welcome Mark, Yeah it is going to be a little hard to get away with this one... Specially as I can see the Optima being a bit quicker than me lads buggy. Might end up having to swap to keep the peace
  8. Just seen this forum doing a Google search and it seems a great site so thought I'd join up. I've just bought one of those Max 4 buggies on ebay for my lad's Christmas present and got bitten by the bug and thought it would be really unfair for the kiddy not to have someone to race! So I jumped on ebay again and got myself a Kyosho Optima mid so we can have some fun!! Only thing is I haven't told the Missus yet I used to build and fly RC aircraft abot 15-20 years ago so bit of a new thing going on here now... Looking forward to the steep learning curve ahead as I'm sure he will wan't summat hotter pretty soon. Cheers Tank.
