  1. As far as I know the cheapest two chassis for 4x4s are the Tamiya CC01 and the Axial SCX10. The SCX10 is more scale-looking and supposed to be more capable but more expensive. Have you had a look in the Replica Scale RC section?
  2. OK, that's fair enough. What can you tell me about the drift project? I'd love to see it, I love drifting, so much better to watch than circuit racing! I'm also pretty good at it (on the PlayStation ).
  3. Thanks! There's nothing stopping you getting a basher, Mr Nitro!
  4. Ah, I see. I locked the front diff of my CC-01 with paper once. Rolled pieces of paper a few cm long into tube shapes and stuffed them around the satellite gears, if you squash them in tightly enough it works surprisingly well. I've also heard of blutack being used but I've never tried it myself. I think there's a guide to using blutack in the drifting section somewhere.
  5. Assuming you just want to stop the front wheels slipping, you'd probably be better off putting a thicker oil in it rather than locking it completely. Less chance of uncontrollable wheelies, backflips and smashed bodyshells. I speak from experience!
  6. Fair enough, let me know how you get on tomorrow. Some parts for my Optimus were despatched today so I'll be ready to take the Optimus and CC-01 there soon, let me know if you want to meet up.
  7. Looks even better now it's been cleaned up, good photos as well! I told you the gold wheels looked good!
  8. Looks good, we'll have to arrange a meetup some time.
  9. I'll have to head down there some time, would be a good place for a meetup. I'll wait until the Optimus is fixed though, as it's a long way to go just for the CC01 and the Maverick isn't really strong enough for decent sized jumps.
  10. Agreed. I actually like the gold wheels, I think they go quite well with the purple. It's certainly a lot more interesting than the grey/silver/black of almost every car on the road (including mine, I'm ashamed to say)!
  11. Top work, that is properly nice! The R33 has always been my favourite style of skyline.
  12. I don't think I've ever broken my CC01 actually (apart from when I drove it through a deep puddle, didn't drive it for a few days and then found the wheel bearings had rusted solid!) but I suppose it's hard to break something than never goes fast enough to have a crash! Has anyone got any good bash spots for the faster stuff as well as crawlers? Would be good to have another meet up when it's stopped raining.
  13. That's a good point actually, my buggy's a bit ruined thanks to the last race (mostly my fault). I could bring the CC01 along though, I'm bored of just driving round the garden!
  14. I was wondering where you'd gone! Anyway, I'm up for a bash, mud sounds good. Have you found anywhere yet?
  15. In case anyone's interested, next race is tomorrow.
  16. I agree, we all make mistakes. I only passed my test in January so I certainly do, but I don't think I've ever done anything quite as dangerous as some of the stuff I see most days! I'm considering getting a dash camera just in case one of the morons actually causes an accident one day!
  17. I've seen a few good ones this week: Numerous people in the left lane at a roundabout who go across the roundabout in a straight line, regardless of whether there might be someone they are about to collide with (me!) in the inside lane. Going down a long, steep hill on the A30 dual carriageway in the outside lane at about 75 overtaking people in lane 1. Three cars pull onto the carriageway ahead of me doing about 60 mph, the one at the back indicates right to pull into the outside lane (with me rapidly approaching), stops indicating, and then pulls out anyway. Use your mirrors! Someone moves into lane 2 (again on the A30), suddenly indicates left and dives across lane 1, over the ladders painted on the road just before the barrier starts, and in front of a car already on an exit slip road, just so they could take the exit they almost missed. And one from a couple of weeks ago: Someone in a lay-by at the side of the (you've guessed it!) A30, who decided that rather than waiting for a gap in the flow of traffic and then pulling out and accelerating up to 70, would actually just join the A30 at 20 mph regardless of what may be approaching, causing me to have to hit the brakes and swerve into lane 2 to avoid slamming into the back of them at 70 mph. Cretin!
  18. Got my first car a couple of months ago, Woohoo! ">http://>
  19. From now on racing will be once a month, so the next race is at the end of September.
  20. Just a reminder, next race is tomorrow at Perranporth Airfield.
  21. I'm sorry to hear that, I didn't know the front hubs weren't very good as I've only upgraded the rears. I wouldn't have recommended them if I'd known.
  22. No, the body has to be trimmed and painted. It comes with window masks and loads of decals for lights, stripes and so on. Not sure about the suspension, sorry. There are loads of threads on CC01s in here: http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/forum/102-replica-scale-rc/ And my build thread here: http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/193115-cc-01-landfreeder-build/ Hope this helps!
