I've just done a quick video of the problem after messing with the carb again for quite a while. some times it revs right through but most of the time it doesn't have full rpm which is shown in the vid so thing coil/lead/spark problem

Surely this wouldn't cause the engine not to rev, it would rev but no drive right?

I can run the car off the ground and the engine has full revs all the gears and diff is spot on so you thing new coil?

Anybody got a solution to the problem i'm still having? Brand new Walbro 668 carb fitted new NGK plug and still doesn't full rev. It's like i can't get maximum rpm it kind of splutteres so maximum speed is like running pace. Fuel lines good, new carb adjusted every way it can. Any help please

Good point mate, it is nice knowing about all the alloy/metal parts on my yama, just keep the screws tight and it's all good. And "looks like a pig" what? all buggies look similar especially with nice wheels. Still each to their own Are them body shells for sale any where?

Yeah well the clutch is to be expected to wear out but yes quality of the parts are not too good, then again hpi will still break right. plus you gonna want to upgrade this aswell. Get what you pay for with rc cars but well over twice the price of a yama for a baja must have deep pockets for a toy! Great when they work

Yama? Where did you get the exhaust from? think im gonna find a manifold piece and make my own.

From this to.... Note the new wheels from a Marder Carbon fibre wrapped shell, came out nice More to came with hopefully new exhaust and air filter. Just made it look far cooler/meaner that the standard yama with the crap wheels and shocking rear tyres Hope you like Ryan

Yeah cheers buddy i've actually just did the very same thing half hour ago and messed about with the screw behind the diaphragm, put it back together and fuel finally flooded through to the bulb Started her up in the shed and wow it revs good full rpm, can't wait to try it tomorrow

I've tried all pipes, fuel is coming through perfect, also taken the 4 screws out where the bulb is to make sure of no blockages but still nothing coming through. People have had this problem or so i've read somewhere on here.

As title says just got a new carb for my yama, whats going on it's brand new

I'll have to do this then as the pathetic rubber thing fell off first run so now the roll cage has been melted by the exhaust.

What did you us for the exhaust manifold?

Ah cool was it a straight fit with the throttle linkage etc? what exhaust, filter you running?

New NGK plug fitted but still no difference so new carb ordered

Cool some thing to go with now! spark plug will be here tomorrow, try that and check ht lead if that doesn't solve the problem i'll just order a new carb. Thanks Ryan

This is the standard yama carb This is the WT-668 Note the 2 small holes in the yama carb ? still fit and work ? Sorry if i seem a bit dumb here. Cheers

Cheers I ordered a "uprated" spark plug last night so see if that helps if not has someone got a link for a new carb? All the ones im finding are used or in America.

instead i just found this fg Walbro 668 carb will this fit

WALBRO CARB WT668B this carb is for sale near me from a baja would this fit without modification ie throttle linkage bolt holes etc? Cheers for the replys guys

Yeah a few little niggles, couple of screws lost (most screws thread locked now) but nothing major as of yet, only used 6 tanks or so. I've had the carb off last night with no problems found gasket is good etc and started fine when refitted but the problem is still there. When adjusting the carb just turning it a small fraction at a time in every position it can be in Top screw and fiddled with the idle screw aswell.

25:1 It ran perfect before and the acceleration is super but after that no more power

I have a problem with my yama, i took the car out this morning on an old gravel/dirt 4x4 track and ripped the insides of both rear tyres then later on a field the car seems to rev like half way only on full throttle (missing at top end) great at low speed then nothing. The engine runs fine, only used about 4 tanks of fuel, i got the car last week. I've tried adjusting the screws on the carb etc the top one tried this in every position possible. Sounds like the engine is kinda spluttering Any help will be much appriciated. Thanks Ryan
