Good afternoon
Firstly been a lurker for a while but first post
I purchased a brushless Carnage last Saturday and after reading the excellent Carnage/Vantage thread I upgraded to carbon front and rear towers and sway bars (many thanks Smash and others). I have only run the car a couple of times in a carpark but have now taken it to westmill race track in Herts. Nice astroturf track and oppurtunity for big air, I must have got about 8ft off the last ramp each time. I did find the steering a bit slow as the track is quite tight, but it is really nicely layed out and there is shop a minute away to buy spares worth checking out if you live nearby.
Firstly I loved the car and it was me that was letting it down, I was going too slowly over the ramps and nosediving all the time. After about four hours of mainly being on its roof I can report the following.
1. After about 20 mins all four body posts snapped (at least it meant I couldnt break the body as I left it in the pits after that.)
2. After about two hours the steering lock upped really tight and the servo saver kept kicking in. The guys at the track helped to loosen everything up (Thanks guys if you read this) it appears for some odd reason everything did itself up rather than work loose.
3. The speed controller came unstuck from its cheapie double sided tape( Thanks for the spare tape sir whoever you are)
After the run inspection.
1. The servo saver arm now catches the top of the servo on full right hand lock (Have nibbled a bit of the servo off to get clearence (sorry a bodge I know)
2. The centre torque tube is bent slightly
3. The front diff clicks a fair bit but if you loosen the slipper clutch off it gets a bit better (Something broken)
4. By looking at the bronze coloured swarth I would say the pinion gear had a hard time.
5. I noticed the front plate had a groove worn in it underneath from the spur gear (Chassis flex on landing?????)
6. The speed contoller moved and wore a groove in the torque tube
The questions (Sorry)
1. Would it be worth getting the aluminium body posts or do I risk breaking the carbon towers ?
2. Did the chassis flex bend the torque tube and wear the top plate and if so is it worth buying the cabon top plate
3. Is it safe to move the speed controller to the top of the chassis on the top plate away from the torque tube ?
4. Is my front diff screwed, it still works fine but clicks on hard launches
Many thanks for your patience in reading this
