  1. Not checked this thread for a while...57 pages now! Interesting to have a scan through a few of the posts. After selling my 3.0 and getting a flux I haven't had much to post about as the flux has been ultra reliable (touch wood!) and easy to use. I had the chance to buy my 3.0 back, along with a load of spares, and couldn't resist, so now I have twins Came back in a bit of a sorry state: A full tear down, new bearings and several hours later: Like new again. Well, nearly new: Not sure how much I'll use it, but at least now if its playing up I've got the instant gratification of the flux. The guy I sold it too got ****** off with it cutting out at speed. It often did the same for me, so I think I'll concentrate on trying to stop it from doing that. Must say that as well as being easier to run, the flux is a damned side easier to clean!
  2. Has anyone experimented with different tyres? I've utterly destroyed the Ken Block type in about an hour of driving. Not only have they worn out, one of the has actually separated from the side wall. I'm currently using the other Tarmac tyres, but I reckon they're even softer so I'll be needing some more before long. The gravel tyres on my old nitro version got completely shredded too. Would quite like a harder compound.
  3. HPI imply on their website that Tamiya TGX shells will fit, or at least that it has the same wheelbase... "300mm wheelbase (same as Super Nitro, TGX, Super Ten, etc.)"
  4. Which servo do you guys recommend?
  5. Bumper got demolished against a traffic island that I was using as part of an improvised course. Went round it over 200 times before smashing into it real progress for me! I've been googling the part numbers all day and all the useful aluminium bits are out of stock, here & in USA. Several places saying mid-April for restock. Think i will get hubs and front carriers when they are available again.
  6. Where did you order them from? Scratch that, found some in stock. Out of interest, how much use do people reckon the aluminium hop up parts are? Many of the bits they offer are bits that don't seem to break anyway, they probably weigh more than the plastic bits and they're fearsomely expensive. Any of them worth the cash?
  7. Bugger! 3 packs through without crashing and then I got too cocky: Wonder what the odds of getting hold of these easily is? Slim to none whatsoever I reckon.
  8. I've been buying from Tower Hobbies. The stuff is cheap and turns up pretty quickly.
  9. Absolutely, do! Flux is superb, love it to bits (a bit too literally sometimes). Was a little jealous at the sounds my old wr8 was making when I took it out with the guy who bought it, but for hassle free running and massive, instant power, bloody hell it's good!
  10. It's just a bit of fun, and as long as I'm having fun, I'm happy Besides, from those vids you two don't need much assistance
  11. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=190667743113 Random link to one. I used double sided foam as you mention...
  12. This is the latest addition to my car, an HK401B gyroscope. When I was researching this, it was apparent that opinion is divided, but there is on denying that it is extremely effective. Personally I hope that it will save me some money in replacement parts! For those that haven't come across these before on cars, they sense when the direction of the car deviates from that of the controller input, and then immediately operates the steering servo to correct it. In practise I've found it keeps the car absolutely dead straight when not steering (and thus assists me in not ploughing into kerbs), but doesn't appear to affect the handling characteristics when turning (in the dry anyway, I think it might be more noticeable in the wet). Best thing is, they cost about a tenner on eBay. HPI market a very similar gyro as a "drift box" for about
  13. What sort of thing are you looking for? For most WR8 owners, availability of spare parts is top priority!
  14. After spending 2 hours cleaning mine following a run on wet grass I think I might invest in a cover myself. My new toy for the car arrived today. HK401B...should help make up for my appalling driving 'skills'!
  15. How different is the TA02 to the TA01? I've got a TA01 which I've had since about 1991. Looking at those pics it's very similar to the 02. Quite tempted to spend a bit on it, but not sure if it's got the suspension travel or clearance to make a decent rally car.
  16. These cars jump so well. I was using the lip of my driveway earlier to get some great air, hardly any run up required either. Only problem was trying to brake before it smacked into the garage door!
  17. Seriously, I wonder how local independent model shops stay in business. Out of three local shops, one only had two lipo's of any description in stock, another said that they didn't keep any in stock but could order one (possibly not realising that the Internet exists!) and the third had batteries, but wouldn't fit a Deans connector for me, even though their ebay shop says that they'll fit whatever connection you want. Ah well, I did try and give them my business! I've gone for a 7600 2S Turnigy for now. The manual put me off saying that you should only use 3S for high speed runs and as I'm only bashing there's not much point risking it. DexterST - did you give that spot at Meadowhall a try?
  18. Is anyone using 3S lipos? Going to pick up another battery tomorrow and wondering whether to spend on 3S or a higher capacity 2S (I picked up 2x 4000mAh batteries with the car).
  19. Even I've never broken that bit! I'll accept the challenge though...
  20. Fellow WR8 fans.... can any of you shed any light on why the flux costs about
  21. Had my first trip out with the flux today. Very impressed, although I need a couple more batteries. Found a great new place for bashing, with large Tarmac and gravel options. Despite there being nothing to crash into I still managed to break the chassis stone guard on one side! Anyway, the car was excellent, even though I ran it on gravel on the Tarmac wheels/tyres (not the Block ones, the WR8 Flux ones). On 2S batteries outright speed seemed similar to the WR8 nitro, although with much faster off the line acceleration. Took a few video clips with my new Sony HDR-AS15. Not a patch on the Rally Freaks ones I'm afraid, but a couple of reasonable shots in there.
  22. If its the one I'm thinking of, you can sign up, it's just very difficult to figure out how. I searched in the Club Questions forum and figured it out from there.
  23. Are there any other forums that cover rallying? Might be worth trying to get some followers from other places too. Rallying on here seems like a very tiny sub section.
  24. The two together before the nitro one goes to its new owner.
  25. And SOLD! That was easy
