  1. That was like watching the Blair Witch project... I feel a bit seasick
  2. Now that looks like it is going to be mental to drive
  3. Thanks to you all, especially Thunderwolf for updating this thread. As I mentioned previously, my old Futaba (probably 20-years old) feels like a very high quality item; but perhaps all the manufacturers have started using cheaper plastic in more recent years. I like the functionality of the DX4, so despite not needing the 4-channels now, it would seem a false economy to go for the 3 over the 4 - especially with that snazzy screen!
  4. IMHO they do have the handling characteristics of a 1:1 Monster truck and as you have all said, that makes them a lot of fun to drive. I am pretty busy with the family this weekend but will try and get some video up as soon as I can. My son has been driving 'the boss' mad by using her flower beds as a freestyle shredding stadium.
  5. Looking good Jtheg - will be interested to hear how she runs.
  6. Same seller, slightly cheaper on their site, but when I looked for the eBay link, there was none left - you must have bought it as I was looking for the link for you!
  7. Bought mine via eBay from these guys; however, this is the direct link to their site: http://www.rcpitstop.co.uk/losi-124th-micro-rally-car-clear-unpainted-body---losb1785-1702-p.asp Quick delivery and exactly what it says on the tin.
  8. Pah! All the cool kids have custom shells for their Rally... can I tempt sir with a link to the unpainted shell link on eBay?
  9. Will try to get some video of them soon - as per my comments above, they are a lot of fun out of the box but I am not sure how well I'll capture that on vid - Spielburg, I'm not Walters, cheers
  10. Thanks guys; appreciate the feedback. I'd like one radio, which I can use for all the RCs, but would rather buy one on recommendation than buy blind and end up with something that I'm disappointed with.
  11. I'm still learning, so perhaps this is a red herring but I wondered if this would be of any help?
  12. Cheers chaps; just some quick and dirty snaps before we took them out for a spin. They remind me a little of the Tamiya Lunchbox - a lot of fun to drive and handling characteristics that keep you in you toes and don't allow you to simply use full throttle all the time. The comedy tyres mean that is actually performs a lot like a real 1:1 monster truck and for me, that is the appeal. I know some people alter the suspension and change the tyres for non-balloon/foam insert but to me, that take away from what makes them special. I'd certainly recommend them and the mod scene is very active. The best part is that both survived their run out today, so unlike last time, no repairs are needed on Grave Digger
  13. Thunderwolf, you mention the cheap plastic feel of the DX4S a few times and I have read this elsewhere, especially when compared to the Futaba options; have you got any further thoughts on this? I was looking at one of these but am concerned because the feel of the stock Traxxas TQ RX annoys me. It feels so cheap, something you'd get with a
  14. I can't argue that point because I don't know their product range; however, based on your photos, I'd suggest you're correct. Nevertheless, that doesn't make the Rat Rod shell any more appealing nor does it make it a good decision to produce one. I'd also mention that in my opinion the Rat Rod looks worse because the suspension is lowered and therefore it looks all the more out of character to the body type and aesthetic. Just my 2 pence
  15. I can't get over how quick the brushless is in the house. I may swap over to LiPo but cannot imagine doing the optional motor upgrade - the thing would be uncontrollable unless you lived in an aircraft hanger! It is already like a rabid squirrel hopped up on pick-n-mix.
  16. Geeze, these are smaller scale (1:18) but tick all the boxes you want to and also the supply of repair parts are good:- At the bottom of the thread I've posted the link to, I put another link to an eBay seller (proper shop, not an individual) who is selling them for
  17. Wondering how many times I have to drop tiny screws and washers before I can repair the RC!

    1. Deafty

      Deafty

have u considered a magnetic bowl? and some smaller fingers lol

The bowl wouldn't help as it is when I am reassembling things but the smaller fingers would work a treat! ;)

  18. Spent some time this morning fixing the damage caused by my ham-fisted driving on the Grave Digger's maiden drive; however, the observant among you (in other words those who aren't hung over or bleary eyed), will notice that the Monster Jam fleet in the AM-house seems to have grown. Yep, the car that was supposed to be for my son soon created the modding bug in me and rather than simply repair the broken steering block and bent suspension pin, I went a little mad on the MS site and eBay, buying a bunch of upgrade parts. Those of you old enough to understand man-logic will note that there is no logic involved but thankfully, I managed to convince the powers that be that I needed an RC for my birthday. My son, using boy-logic (read likes blue better) was happy to give Dad broken Grave Digger for new in box Son Uva Digger. Before either AM94 Snr or Jnr manages to turn Monster Jam into RC Destruction, I thought I'd take a few quick snaps with the camera... Happy RC'ing and enjoy your Saturday
  19. Ended up buying it from Model Sport - I could have saved a couple of quid going the eBay route but I was concerned that I'd end up with the V1 (non-brushless, even thought they were using the V2 photos), so went with MS. I've had good service from them and for the sake of
  20. I've been hammering the 1:24 Losi Rally brushless around the house this evening and I cannot believe just how fun this little RC is straight out of the box - not only is it mentally fast but on the polished floor in our kitchen it drifts like a little champ. I cannot recommend this micro car enough - bags and bags of fun!

  22. Even better, picked my iON up off bricks and mortar shop, via eBay,
  23. Great idea but the implementation of it is poor. At the moment it looks like a monster truck mated with a Rat Rod and this is the offspring because of the super-size tyres and out of proportion body. I think you'd either need to custom build a car or a manufacturer would need to build a kit from the ground up; trying to drop a shell onto this chassis doesn't work for me...
