  1. Spint 2 is what I started with, few upgrades and it will fly around a track. Even if you get the Sprint 2 Sport, you can lock the diffs yourself but 100% make sure you get the front one way diff which is easy to fit. Will make a big difference to what you can do with it.
  2. To be honest, I know sweet FA about the gearing on the D3 but if you go via Facebook, theres a page called the Sakura D3 Brotherhood. Be worth while asking on there. Maybe we can get it put as a stick post on here since we have a lot of owners struggling with the high cs on their D3's. Other things to try and work on is get the rear sitting a little lower than your front. That way you should be able to shift weight from the rear to the front as you tap the brakes.

Canon 35-135 has. Can pick em nice silly cheap these days.
  4. Woah, what are you planning to do about that ackerman? Or just how you set em before finishing?
  5. "Andy" knows how really nail the paint. Always love his work. Glad it went to a good home man!
  6. Belt drive doesnt really differ than much from shaft drive as a whole these days. A lot of the newer dedicated shaft driven chassis have little to no torque steer but providing you apply your power progressively, you shouldn't have a problem. The only thing with a belt driven chassis is knowing the right tension required. It should not be tight but have enough for it to grip on the teeth. Thats about it. Stones generally rarely shred belts these days but some suppliers do make reinforced ones. Remember extending the chassis will change the dynamics of how it drives. Depending on how you do it, will make it quite lazy or too nervous so try and leave this till later if you can. Lol I have never named a chassis. :-/ Better think of a name.
  7. Andy speaks the truth. The problem is Radshape RC's track is a really hard surface so if you are not able to get your traction down, its like drifting on ice. One way and if not the biggest way to help is to reduce to a lower cs. As mention 1.5 is a good place to be since you can then use that to apply technique easier especially if you are newer. It gives you more ability to work on your angles and speed alongside throttle control. That is my biggest gripe with the D3, so affordable but a lot of people get upset or put off with the high cs ratio out of the box. I don't understand their logic as all their competitors offer lower cs out of the box. Not a deal breaker but still a little confusing.
  8. Thanks. I still have some more to do. I am trying to work on getting more grip on it so having to now work on the painful fine tuning options. Not fun but will be worth it once I nail it.
  9. Ill put it out there. If you want to progress with your drifting in any shape or form with the utmost control over throttle which is essential, go for a sensored brushless setup. 10.5T motor is what I would recommend as a base motor.

Those are the things I want to start trying out but need to drive miles for some really killer stuff. I hate London for that reason. I remember when I went to Mauritius many years ago. Their night skies were amazing but at the time, DSLR's were either not available or just ideas. Now I think this year im really going to start researching more. :-) For now just carrying on with the moon shots. Tonights was a little more tricky as there was a lot of haze but did the best I could. I hope this time around I can get the full cycle or even half of it!

Damnit! Read this too late. Back indoors and warm in bed. Got the next shot in the moon cycle. I have 36mp to play with so ill just be lazy and crop the heck out of it. Im planning to just get an older DSLR and have that rigged up to a telescope soon. Just need to research when I find the time. The reach is great but just keeping an eye on shutter speed catches me out. Ill have to start building up my own gear again soon so I can do what I want without having to wait for the next best thing.

Maybe so but im used to way shorter lengths like 100mm or wider so this is really a new experience for me. Nothing I didn't expect but just needs more practice at holding and having the right stance. I don't think ill perfect all of that before it goes back. It has given me a new found respect for people doing any sort of air craft shots like at Biggin Hill and stuff. But thankfully I still have my tripod so had clear skies and just came back in with this More up my alley

Well time for something totally unlike me >_< Took the 70-400 out for a go today. Have no clue on how to really use anything longer and just was overwhelmed considering I couldn't even find my monopod so had to handhold. Left the ISO a little too high but overall im pleased with my lil trip and god knows how many miles of walking!

I have to give it back when Sony need it. Its nice actually getting to use all this gear even just for messing around. I was little nervous asking for something longer but I guess they trust me enough now. Its not a Canon but honestly since using it, ive slowly started to phase out of the whole brand scene although I know the Canon range a lot better.

It gives me a forest considering I haven't paid for any of the recent gear

  22. Going for something affordable is always acceptable however given the choice I would still go for the MST. Its got nothing to do with the fact that I complete, in fact that is all on hold while I carry on learning more advanced techniques. The focus is more about the brand itself which you will not get with Yokomo or Sakura as a whole. My point is not that you need to throw at much as I have into a chassis but as a whole MST and Soul have done a great job of supporting their products and WILL teach you to get the best out of it. Sure they will still help tune any chassis but since they wont know the product inside and out, you will have to go a long way to reach it and your own potential. I don't recommend them on their product alone but what they delivery as a company and im sorry to say, Sakura and Yokomo will never be on the same level purely for those services in the UK.
  23. To be honest and not trying to sound one sided but MST. Reason is the delivery for parts and chassis is quick and most of the tracks like the one in Wycombe, people have spares and are more than happy to lend you something or help you set it up right. Its a more supported chassis within the community where as Yokomo isnt as much. Few drivers run DIBS and if you break something, very few places have the parts you need or need to buy stuff outside of the UK. Yoko's drive just as good as the MS-01 etc but just end up having to spend more time searching for stuff than MST.
