  1. What you need to consider is the entire response of your setup let alone how you've tuned it. Ideally you want a very neutral/zeroed setup on the rear since you want to maximise traction. Maybe add a little toe to help but the main thing is your shocks. If your shocks are too responsive, they will just let the back bounce around too much losing grip. If it's too dull then it won't respond at all giving you too much front end. Ideally you want it to droop a little when you put it on the ground. It's all about oils and springs.

Think this week I'm going weds to try and meet some of the lads from Ireland then maybe next week. Most likely just do the competition weekend at the end of the month. Need more tuning and testing >_

  4. No offence but if you want to actually stick at it for a long time, get yourself a MST MS01D from Soul RC. (supply ya own batteries) Its by far the best way to go since there are plenty of upgrades available and the UK support is second to none. You can then spend around
  5. Ikea might be a good shout. The owners of the one in North London and Neasden were awesome. They used to let the mature guys hold an actual car show there without any bother so they might be the same. I mean if skaters are no problem then see no reason why they would have a problem with rc drifters.

  8. Its a hard thing to find but get the Kunnyz wing. Really suits it in tems or width and height. Yeah we run 0 camber on the rear. Makes it far more evil on the transitions

  10. Welcome to the fold. Honestly the only investments I would make is 1. Correct drifting tyres based on your surface. Recommend MST Hard tyres for carpet and MST Harder tyres for tarmac etc. They can be purchased via Soul RC 2. Upgraded shocks and different springs ranging from soft to hard so you can adjust rebound, response etc for the best traction 3. Shock oil if you do not have any already. anywhere between 15-40wt shock oils work good on drifters Other than that, I wouldnt suggest you do not invest because its a very basic chassis which will let you learn the basics but nothing more. The more advanced tuning and drifting techniques will require a more catered for chassis. EG MST or a Yokomo setup. The basic stuff will mean youll end up throwing a lot at it before its as capable as a dedicated chassis. Things to practice 1. Ensuring your drifting is controllable by not going over angle since it will slow you down 2. Controlling your speed since it will slow you down 3. Learn to use the steering properly as less corrections will prevent you from slowing down 4. Set up two cones and drift them with a figure of 8 course and then aim to do 10 laps with 2 steering adjustments per lap.
  11. Good job. You'll be running with the best of us with practice. The key to drifting is control of your car through throttle not steering. Will make more sense when ya get running. Yokomo shells are nice, just annoying that the light buckets are not supplied! Quality and detail is good. Some split in common places like my Laurel but that was after months of abuse. My preference is Yokomo shells even at their price.
  12. Thats just it. The Keyence range is so advanced, trying to get to grips with it is not really something for the feint hearted. Most people buy it and copy other peoples settings. I wouldn't bother getting it just yet. We been drifting for a few years and all of us run Keyence ESC and motor and not even bothered getting the TAO/Brain just yet. I would say starting out, get the essentials and work more on technique. If you budget caters for the TAO, go for it but honestly with the Keyence range, its more of a fine tuning tool. Im running factory settings without the Chevalier boost cap and any sort of programming but its the smoothest thing ive ever used since the birth of the wheel alongside being able to keep up with some of the finest drivers who hit soul (not all just yet) but mainly its down to setup and technique. Not saying don't buy it but that sort of stuff wont really benefit you till later. If you are starting up and want something that will serve you well and have a generous budget get the following MST XX-D HT VIP OR You could go for the new MST RMX VIP but its super new, not all the parts are available in terms of spares and upgrades. Seems to be a lot more complex so for someone starting out, it might not be the best idea. Sanwa MT4 or the M12 if your budget allows Keyence ESC. Standard cap is good enough Keyence 10.5T BS or non BS motor As for your choice in Overdose shells, as long as its not the JZX100, you be fine. JZX100 is also made by HPI with the same detail etc as they are made in the same mould. ;-)

  14. I would say buying that sort of stuff is worth getting from Tetsujin in Japan. If you dont get caught by customs then its a fair bit cheaper. Soul have a lot of that stuff if not all but can be costly since you end up paying the standard customs tax on top. If you go via the Tetsujin page, you should end up speaking to Ando who should be able to help you with payment etc. You dont NEED the TAO2 etc but nice to have later down the line.

  17. nice job. Still think it needs a massive wing. The canards came in like an L shape curved to hug the bumper. I'll take a photo tomorrow:-) hopefully have the wing and splitter all on tomorrow
  18. Yeah it's good for a lot of bits. Just use a nice sharp blade. I'll get some snaps tomorrow, my team mate has chopped the rear bumper and added a time attack diffuser

  20. 0.7-1.0mm plasticard works well. DVD cases work well for larger bits but not canards since it's too thick and stiff.
  21. ah I'm not the only one. I've cheated and lined the weak spots with aluminium tape. :-) As for the aero, most of it I made myself but the canards I'm using are from my old old old Yokomo BMW shell. They are a little too curved even for this shell so I've had to really press em on. I can try and make some for ya. Won't be hard.
  22. You can get it all from Japan. Cheaper than UK prices. Make quite a saving but risk of customs. Motor I would def go straight to Leyence if Soul don't have the OMG. I'm there tomorrow so I can ask when stocks back in.
  23. Honestly the market is quite wide but my recommendation would be getting a Keyence 13.5 motor. Honestly they as smooth as hell. Our entire team runs em and wouldn't look back. ESC wise, the Keyence option is v pricey considering you need to buy the program card separate. Other Esc options I would consider is the Speed Passion Reventon Pro series or the Tekin range. Both are very good but the Tekin has a better response rate.
  24. nice. Well honestly I would just use double sided. Once it's on its on. I wouldn't worry too much about removing it. I wouldn't show goo though since it's far too strong and pulls paint if not applied well. Just make sure you prep and wash the kit well before painting. Super thin coats with safe dry times between coats, say 2/3 hours. It should hold paint well.
