  1. I did try the tabs idea and using double sided foam to stick it all together but was too spongey. Tape might work but not consider screws and nuts. May be worth thinking about but with the habit of running alongside others and curbs, the front end always takes a beating so can see it becoming weak there. Maybe im wrong and being too safe >_< Ill look into that. Kazama Auto used to make this shell direct and was very rare since it had to be imported but now MST sell em direct and for a fraction of what they used to cost! http://www.soulrc.com/mst-s15-d1-bodyshell-200mm-1822.html
  2. The new monster NEEDS bigger wing and offsets. Way too narrow on that
  3. Its been FAR too long since my last bodyshell build so time to get back into the swing of it! Here she is. Decided to go for something a bit simpler in colour this time which was a bold move. Even more bold than cherry red for me...was going to be fully pearled then coated in white. Trimming this was a total dog since the trim lines were pretty feint. Ended up by accident denting the front arches but its the same on body sides, no biggie. Looked insanely plain after a paint so dipped into my sticker sheets kept safe from previous builds. Fancied something a bit more mean and time attacky than others ive done Ran body line tape down first followed by the sun strip then all the window and light trims. Not sure if im going to run lights so I added a dark tint to the headlights Wasnt keen either on the flat stickers for the wipers so I "borrowed" the actual plastic wipers from my Laurel. Looks much better Next came my new training markers. To keep it in theme, same as the sun strip, wrapped in fresh white carbon wrap. Kind of the big update which I was really excited about. More stickers, window netter, added some canards and played more with the ride height. Needed to place the stickers better on the front bumper which is on my to do list Need to remove that bubble on the headlight >_< Heres a better shot of the netting I made for the hell of it Finally kind of the last bit im working on. Front splitter! Made using 1mm Plasticard and its going well. Just need to think of a way of adding it on so its flush yet removable so glue is off the cards for now. Hopefully have a better idea in a day or so Hopefully I get some time to run it soon. Pains me to see a fresh shell not out on track. Need to finish off the wing which is missing since I have yet to collect it >_<
  4. I recognise this shell. Do I follow you on instagram? >_<
  5. Dont worry too much about leading. All you need to do is keep a good medium pace speed so you can allow cars to train and take wider lines than you do when you twin, that way all cars make the corner no problem. Mistakes happen, everyone makes em but if the experienced people want to get past, they know how to do it. People are not really fussed about being stuck behind someone because no matter which way you look it is a learning curve. Even do what JR does, headphones in, and just zone out.
  6. Ah never really forget, just need to shake off the cobwebs. Got to get back into the korogashi myself but JR (lanky guy who came with me with the red RX7) commended your driving so kudos since he is a very skilled driver. What you did by running infront and behind people like that will help you master korogashi easily. Keep it up!
  7. The thing is, even a bog standard RTR is good ONCE you tune it. One of the locals, Jake ran an RTR well tuned and had great technique who ended up knocking some of the well specced chassis out of competitions easy. They key is the right parts and the right tune. Flex and response is totally different in the materials and everyone will find something totally unique. Good to meet ya dude, sorry I wasnt hanging out at much, just getting used to tuning and technique again. So much ballache!
  8. Good to meet ya too dude. Sorry was in my own little world tweaking mine like crazy today and getting back into it. After 6 months out thees a lot I need to do again. As you could see from the regulars, they are pretty sharp out on track. Wait till you start learning proper drift technique. Hard but well worth it!

    Photography!

I honestly have to call this the biggest fluke of a photo but it works
  10. I should be there on Sat with my C35 also. Top for you, strengthen up the front of you C35. Its so easy to crack it either side of where the rad is.
  11. Yokomo shells are generally what I have found to be the most detailed BUT not really a big selection and have to usually buy light buckets as a sperate. Pandora shells also are detailed but depending on what you go for, can be thinner than Yokomo. Both are durable but not really amazing. Tamiya have a good balance but at 190mm, its not the widest so you might have to sit and think. Personally even though Yokomo are the most expensive option, the detailing is always good and my recommendation.
  12. It was my first time back on the track since Feb yesterday at Soul and it was great getting back into it. Really was fun again. Shame about Skidworks but Wycombe and Soul are still alive and kicking. I need to get my hands on HT at some point. Fingers crossed I can get that sooner rather than later.
  13. Locking the rear diff is a must. You can get away with tightening up a ball diff to its limit but eventually it will come loose so locking it with body pins such as the above video is simple and effective in the long run. Front you can run a ball diff but in an ideal world should run a one way diff which will simulate the handbrake when you brake allowing tighter and harder transitions.
  14. Saw this pop up on FB, nice to see you joined the XXX family
  15. I had the HPI E30 M3 and it took a massive beating when I first started drifting. It didnt have as much detail as the Tamiya but I would 100% have another again. Lexan thickness and rigidity was a winner in my books. For sticking fenders etc on the shell, shoe goo is permanent however if you are not careful, you can have issues where it can pull the paint off. I prefer just using double sided foam. Easy to work with, discreet and can be removed very easily.
  16. Been a long time but the project has been resumed again. During my time away, the chassis has been put under some massive changes and has more to come. Ill have photos over the coming days to show off the transformation.
  17. heh so you going tomorrow but not Saturday because you got something to do on Saturday? Confused! Real there is very little play on the motors so get everything to slot in. Reminds me I need to find my pinion also! Electrics go back in mine today. Hope my lipos are ok considering they been stored for about 6 months. IF you are there tomorrow, i should be up in the afternoon.
  18. I should be down on Saturday pay day depending Fingers crossed since its been forever. Just need to throw all my electronics back in. I wouldnt worry too much about your FDR since quite a few people mess around with theres especially since they change cs ratios alot but a 48dp 20T is a good start. If i make it saturday ill jam with ya and help setup since that is what ill be doing also.
  19. Sorry dude, I just have a massive OCD over those wheels. Never really notice it once running on track. Youve done a good job on keeping the chassis tidy. Some people heat shrink it all so its got a little more protection but see you have done it right the first time. Whats next on the list for it, just setting it up now? Its been a good few months since ive run mine so im not sure how everyone has been setting up oils and spring rates.
  20. I think the only thing that I didnt like about the MS which you done a good job is if you cables were messy, you ran the risk of them being cut and exposed by the belt. Also a tip with those wheels, on the hex they are marked L and R to let you know what side they go on since you have some on the wrong way. ;-)
  21. Cheers dude. Ive been away for a bit myself so a lot of new faces to catch up with I bet. Im hoping to make it down this Sat just to catch up with everyone and jam at the Corrola event they have on but if not ill def be down next week. Reminds me, I better check up on my lipos!
  22. Make sure you have a decent servo for steering. If it or your steering is twitchy, drifting and learning the right technique will be difficult. Since its all about balance between your steering and throttle, you will need to eliminate as much play as possible.
  23. Shes coming out of retirement soon only to be replaced shortly after with another Mark X most likely.
  24. Ill keep an eye out for that shell at Soul sometime
