  1. I'm not normally one to go on about safety but you seriously need to reconsider your flying methods and procedures. Twice now you've lost control of your models with resultant fly aways. The first one possible landed on a main road. No need to say anything about possible multiple injured people from traffic accidents. The second landed in a football ground which was very luckily closed. But could have hit a person, on top of that rather stupidly you've put your name and number on it. Had it struck a person you'd probably have got a friendly nock on the door off the local coppers. Regardless of circumstance, improper setup, or third party involvement both times you were the operator of the machine and as such would have been liable for injury or damage to persons or property. Can I suggest you take the time to read the BMFA and civil aviation guidelines on operation of model aircraft for fpv use. Take extra care or your gonna get bent over good and proper.
  2. Do you mean Raptor as in helicopter? Sorry if it sounds daft
  3. It's a brand new x50 I've just picked up, looks like the old raptor but is another level completely only got 2 flights on it today as I'm running the new engine in. But it feels light in the air so once it's run in it should be very fast on the sticks. I love nitro for getting low and dirty with the smack flying. Lecys are for smooth big air.
  4. It's been a while since I've had this many birds in airworthy condition, I just hope they all come home in one piece tomorrow. http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/22085-/ Only got a couple more on the bench now. Hopefully I should have the scaley up next month if it don't go to wrong.
  5. I knew it, they fly home so DJI can rebox them and sell them again. Return to home my Arse, more like return to factory. Joe
  6. Abit more info needed, what sort of equipment do you want lifting, weight/size, lens lengths etc. I'm on call over this weekend and I don't have a gimbal mount for any of my 90s so not much use.
  7. Welcome to the dark side of RC, once your bitten by helis you will never go back.
  8. Blade nano, or mcpx. You will need a tx to go with them but both are very good machines and good value. 130x is very good but abit more involved with maintenance etc.
  9. The reventon pro is a great bit of kit, I use mine in my b44 off road. I've tried to boost on full in my buggy and it was just manic. I run a hpi pro esc in my drifter and its very nice. Ps, don't run sticky tires with max boost, it's a bit fast.
  10. Take a look at any of the big model Heli shops, not one is in a high street. Most are in industrial units out the way to reduce overheads and most of there trade is web based. If your interested in models these days you tend to look online first. If there is a local shop you'll find it on the web first.
  11. I don't mean spares for every car under the sun. I'm on about basics like batterys and connectors, fuel tube and glo plugs the things that go wrong and cost pennys and you don't wonna mail order in.
  12. The Cafe is a good idea, cash business always is a good idea. On the subject of model shops, I've seen countless ones open and close by me. The main problem is they don't stock the stuff people want or need. If I walk into a shop and ask for a RX pack I want them to say here you go sir thats
  13. You need to plug both cables into your charger, the red one goes to the main charge connectors and the white one goes into the balance board.
  14. Yes but low pass to a Heli pilot is below 3 ft The look on everyone's faces is priceless. Plane flyers are so funny when they crash. Fortunately Heli pilots get used to crashing very early on so they don't do the sad puppy look when there best model hits the floor.
  15. Yes you can, just make sure to set it to Li-ion and not Li-po Get it wrong and it's bonfire time.
  16. Get the nano over the 100x any day, parts are available next day from loads of shops. Align Helis are fine when you get to 450 size and above but there smaller ones have issues and the align 100 was a bit of a flop to be honest, aligns knee jerk reaction to the msr which was truly ground breaking at the time.
  17. When wired in parallel the C rating remains the same but the MAH goes up, so your 5000mAh 30c pack will become a 10,000mAh 30c pack. So yes your calculations are correct. Joe
  18. Thats spot on for storage. About 40-50% charge level is perfect. Joe
  19. If your bashing then 3.4-3.6 If your racing with a hot setup then 3.0v, as technically you should never run that low in a race, and you don't want it cutting in due to voltage sag under heavy load at the end of a race..
  20. Don't bother with the 100x for micros go with eflite all the way.
  21. Don't stop, it will become second nature eventually. We have a severely disabled flyer at our club who has very restricted movements in his entire body, he had to design his own transmitter and wheelchair to be able to fly. He's now an exceptionally talented pilot capable of very complex manoeuvres. If you get chance try a flybarless Heli. A well setup flybarless or F3C Heli really will sit there with no input for a good 10-30 seconds depending on wind. I constantly take my thumbs off the sticks and stretch my hands when flying it just takes practice to understand when you can do this. There nothing better then doing a low inverted pass and taking your hands of the tx and letting the Heli fly past. Don't give up. You just need to understand your equipment a little more. Try some extra flybar weights to give the flybar more momentum which will make it hold attitude better. The Heli will respond to the sticks slower but it should give you more time when level. Check your centre of gravity is spot on (this is a mistake a lot of begginers make and it doesn't show up until they start to learn inverted manoeuvres) to stop it wondering forward or backwards.
  22. I used 4 savox servos on one of my Helis, you could hear them over the nitro engine they were so noisy. Joe
  23. How long has it been sat? One of the most common problems with old engines is stuck piston rings. They get gummed into the groove and don't generate a proper seal, the engine will start and run but just dies after a short while. Joe
  24. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANTEX-SQ8W270-HIGH-POWERED-SOLDERING-IRONS-SOLDERING-IRON-80W-/130812258051?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item1e7504a703 Tried and tested. Much like the big weller iron mentioned above.
  25. You can parallel charge packs but it requires the right setup and some serious understanding of lipos and the relationships of voltage and current, for safety reasons two charges are the best/safest way of doing it.
