  1. Excited for you! ha. Got any plans for upgrades to it? Provided Didski is ok with that
  2. You are right in a sense that I'm buying more upgrades, wrong in the sense if it needs them or not.
  3. Red thread lock didn't do any better. I have blue thread lock. Just add dirt! Take them off rarely!
  4. Having just upgraded to gold today I am now on a diet of ice cubes and hope until next week.
  5. I've broken 2 of them in 7 months, the first being my fault with fitting it wrong. My friend has broken 3, all of them over big jumps. Mine Saturday was a particularly nasty sideways landing with all the weight onto the back wheel. I have a feeling the wheel nut may have backed out a touch after the fitting of all the new parts. A weak point of this car is by no means a weak point But yeah ... a lot of dollar!
  6. Not that I know of? I'm referring to these ... Super Heavy Duty Wide Axle 8x11x59mm Savage XL (2Pcs) http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/15201/
  7. Well I fitted all my integy parts Saturday, impressed with all of it minus 1 leaky shock, might have over filled it though. 50 weight is probably a bit over damped but it's better at higher speeds. Knuckles work nicely, no fit issues. Gearbox also, went in ok. Did break my second wheel axle though seems to be the weakest point of the car.
  8. Thanks! I did do A much earlier video on it too back in November ... Not sure if you saw this back earlier of the parts I broke (with a couple of extras I remembered!) Rear diff out drives are worn out/clicking on the dog bones. 2 diff bearings, one front and one rear, they wear out but the car still ran fine!? 2 pinions, they wear out also! 1 ESC, warranty replaced recently. 1 motor, warranty replaced recently. 1 rear knuckle, Friend hit me hard when i was powered down off the side of the course. 1 rear diff housing, same friend. same scenario. he paid this time. 1 centre gear box. Entirely my fault. Ran it in deep mud and had the slipper clutch set too loose. The slipper heated up to 140*c and melted the gearbox! 1 wheel axle, entirely my fault again. Didn't slot the pin in properly and snapped it as a result. Standard servo also got fried. Don't even bother with it! As for the second Super 5, My friend has owned that for around 2 months, all he has broken is 2 wheel axles. When I ran mine in I had a bunch of annoying little issues - Since I ironed those out in the first month my friend didn't experience the same pit falls! The wheel nuts kept coming loose. Not the 24mm hex, but the nut inside. Even with thread lock they seem to back out. I actually added some dirt to my thread lock to really cement them in, no problem now. If they do come loose though you will snap a wheel axle over jumps so check regularly. The steering crank, screws were loose from the factory in both of ours also, which I lost whilst running so double check those, maybe even some thread lock again. I really cranked mine in once I lost it, not a problem since. Can't really think of any more negatives! If you can think of anything just ask
  9. Really? I have had some horrible crashes from jumps and mine seem absolutely fine! I've jumped mine at least 30 feet high at times too... Happy to report no diff problems yet, even when you blow diff bearings it drives fine. I'm guessing the slipper clutch would help a lot with drive line damage though so might be doable!
  10. Yes mate, I had a fair amount on at the back! Really improved it's jumping Anymore hop ups planned then Noj?
  11. No Idea what you mean? Most weekends I tear rubber and shoot all over doubles, sliding in and out of curves.
  12. There's no way to prevent it that I know of When connecting your lipo the spark creates a lot of the scorching on the blades. I rub what dirt I can off with a cloth between packs and give it a filing when I get home from a day out.
  13. I ran 40wt for a while and just added a fair bit of preload to the springs, more at the back. Just fitted those Integy shocks last night and they came with the most ridiculous oil in, I'd guess around 10wt and was like a trampoline. Emptied those out and I've gone for 50wt oil, the spring tension feels a tiny bit stiffer than the standard shock springs and it drives much more like the real deal, albeit I'm yet to take it for a proper run round my track, over the doubles.
  14. Nothing to do with the cover, everything to do with dirt build up on your Deans connectors. Dirt causes resistance. Resistance causes heat. Use contact cleaner and for the stubborn scorches on the blades, a fine file.
  15. There is a conversion kit from kershaw designs to fit the 2028, but I agree, over kill. I also stripped my plastic servo horn, upgraded to a metal one long ago.
  16. Yep, I managed to wear down the back of a sun gear against it's pin on the out cup. Ended up just slipping across it. I just bunged a new diff in and have the old one as spares. Edit : That was on constant 3s thrashing offroad.
  17. I've not actually fitted them yet, they're front and back. Sure they'll be fine. Not heard complaints from others that have fitted them. I don't think it needs a BEC, happy with how the cap performs.
  18. Having had my Super for 7 months I should probably have done this thread long ago. Still really enjoying mine at the expense of every other RC I own. They are all gathering dust and only used when I have repairs to make. I've bashed mine fairly hard - if you've seen my latest video on it you'll see only the good landings but this thing takes it all in it's stride. I'd say 80% of things I've broken are my fault or a smaller 8th scale slamming into it at 30 mph. I have broken/ruined : 2 diff bearings, they wear out. I know that sounds like a lot but I have used this in excess of 100+ battery packs and ran it everywhere. Here are the upgrades I have done so far, some arriving this week. Integy centre gearbox Integy front and rear gearbox Savox 1283 Servo - 30Kg/cm - 0.13 Sec With a power cap. Baja 5sc shell Integy Alloy knuckles front and rear Integy rebound piggy back shocks Front lights with pods All i'm thinking now is new rims and tyres, the integy steering bellcrank, integy c hubs all round. I'm only considering the integy A arms, shock towers and camber arms. It's called Super for a reason.
  19. I would like to see a "kid" afford one of these "toys".
  20. Powered by the need to imitate famous people to appear cool to us mere mortals.
  21. Often my "lad" mates poke fun at the hobby from a far. And then they see the size of the 1:5th scale and are teeming with questions about it and want to see it run.... I had my 5th delivered to work and everyone in the office asked to see it. I remember one girl exclaimed "for the price of that I could of bought a handbag".
  22. HPI europe is unaffected apparently - at least not in a take over sense!
  23. Big upgrades ordered for the Super!
