  1. Just wanted to update this thread as had some great customer service from hpi today.
Turns out that the tx and rx on boys model has been discontinued and they don't sell my tx anymore, been keeping an eye on eBay but no luck.
So was looking like If I wanted to replace the tx I would have to buy the new esc/rx to go with it as the new radio gear will not bind with my existing old rx, so cost was coming close to the price of the car and would not be worth it.
I messaged hpi to ask if they still stocked the old radio, they replied next day to say they don't stock them anymore but went out of his way to help and managed to find an old model that was returned with an esc fault so radio is all working and has offered to send out free of charge! If I can get it working again my boys gonna be well chuffed he's not used it for ages.
Just wanted to mention it as I was pretty impressed with customer service like that especially as the car is over 3 years old, thumbs up to HPI.

  2. Already replaced servo the other day mate as I though that and it wasn't expensive but still the same .
Tx is about £30 so didn't wanna chance that, could take it apart but not sure what I'd be looking for really, my gut feeling is there's something wrong with the steering wheel in tx as it seems really sensitive you barely have to touch it and steering twitches, but knowing my luck if I buy a new tx it will be the 2 in 1 esc reciever.

  3. After some help with the lads ion mt, the steering became erratic last time he used it servo would keep twitching and wouldn't steer properly basically underivable.

So I re binded Rx n tx made sure battery was charged checked connections and made sure nothing catching servo arm, no difference. Replaced the servo with a brand new unit still no good, I've now noticed the steering sometimes twitches when you are barely even touching the steering wheel on tx could it be this that's faulty? Or receiver? How would I find out which is at fault as new tx is about £30 I think so don't wanna take a chance unless I'm certain.

Any tips would be much appreciated.

  4. Cool ta guys il let him know what he's dealing with and he can decide what he wants to do, as he's a complete beginner but does want to start up in the hobby so might be best for him to sell it and put money towards something more ideal.

  5. So general thought is it's a mugen mbx?
So good news is it's a good strong truggy bad news is if he breaks it he will struggle to repair it[emoji51]
He's on Holiday this week he's gonna bring it back in when he's back il have a closer look see if there's anyway of telling if it's a conversion.
It looks like it's been sitting a while as there's quite a few rusty parts so if it works it's gonna need a complete strip down and clean and re oil/grease but still think it's gonna need some new bits,@stretch if he doesn't decide to keep it and spend money on it il let him know your interested mate, cheers for the help guys and when I get anymore photos il put them up see if it sheds anymore light on it.

Hi guys, not been on here in a long while kids, house move and work have kept me away for a while models are packed away in the shed but hoping to dust em off this summer with any luck.

I was wondering if anyone recognised the truggy above?

Friend at work was given it by someone clearing out a garage and he knows nothing about them and wants to know if it's worth cleaning up and keeping,it's come with some decent lipos which I've charged for him and they were at storage voltage and cells balanced ok, all it needs is some radio gear which I'm gonna try and dig out for him to test it.

He wants to keep it to use but if it's hard to get spares for or isn't a very good model he's not gonna bother spending money on it.

  7. Just got myself a new road bike won't let me upload the pic for some reason?

It's a Scott speedster it's not top of the range it's all that funds would allow at moment but it's brand new and it's got me back on the road after a year as my giant road bike got stolen last summer, which leads me into my next question can anyone recommend me a decent bike insurer they know of or had a claim with without the usual hassle of arguing the value and trying to worm out of a claim?

I've got a decent insurance approved lock and most of the time it will be in a locked shed but not taking any chances this time as I was totally gutted last time.

  8. It's pretty simple you cut the bigass plug off the end which powers the xbox. Depending on the power supply model there will be either 6 or 8 wires. 3 yellow 3 black or 4 yellow 4 black.

Yellow is the +12v rail and the black is GND. There is also a red wire and a blue wire, the red wire is always on which is 5V at 1A and the blue wire is a power sense wire which triggers the PSU to power up. Therefore if you join the red to the blue the power supply light will go green and the PSU starts up just like when you turn the xbox on. You can also put a switch between the red and blue so you can toggle the psu on and off.

There appears to be a few instructables too.

The one from the 2005-2006 xbox 360 is the best as it is 203w where as some are as low as 150w

Brilliant thanks mate il dig it out and see which one it is.
  9. As above you needed to book in to use the track ect but booking in is now closed but welcome to come along and say hello to everyone bud

    Cheers Kevin

Oh right fair enough my own fault for leaving it till last min, was waiting on the weather to see what it's like as we was gonna camp the Saturday and it's his first time didn't wanna put him off if it was chucking it down.
  10. Was just about to ask do I need tickets in advance? And same with the camping? was waiting on the weather really.

I won't be racing either just bashing and little one the same he's probably gonna bring his maverick ion we probably won't be bashing long as not got a lot of batteries at the moment.

  11. What cars is it best to pack? I gotta get the wife n kids there too... Not sure shell like a Dbxl on her lap all the way to Horsham once my 5Sc fills the boot!

Could you put the Mrs in the boot? Just an idea, or on the roof rack? [emoji12]

Been wanting to take the boy camping for the first time for ages so this could be a good excuse for us to get away from the Mrs for the weekend and break him in to camping! And horshams only about half hour from me.

  12. Gotta say tyres as well seems like alot of money for something that can be worn out fairly quickly especially on concrete.

Gotta say I also love buying lipos every time I buy one I think 30 quid gone but oo!another 15 mins I don't have to come home for when I'm out bashing! Think if my mrs had enough money she would buy me enough lipos to keep me out all weekend!

  13. I've just realized my one is at Modelsport and in budget buddy. Average speed but has the torque No probs so far after 2 months :)

Looks good mate, not that I know a lot about servos but price looks good, it's between these two so far then

Unless modelsport stock the waterproof one as well?

i got this one...fantastic bit of kit..

did have another savox on my truggy but changed it for this as it is waterproof...

cause you have a truggy i would suggest somthing waterproof.

Like the idea of the waterproof one but need to be from model sport mate as got vouchers left over from Xmas from the Mrs so have to buy from there ideally.
