  1. Just wanted to update this thread as had some great customer service from hpi today. Turns out that the tx and rx on boys model has been discontinued and they don't sell my tx anymore, been keeping an eye on eBay but no luck. So was looking like If I wanted to replace the tx I would have to buy the new esc/rx to go with it as the new radio gear will not bind with my existing old rx, so cost was coming close to the price of the car and would not be worth it. I messaged hpi to ask if they still stocked the old radio, they replied next day to say they don't stock them anymore but went out of his way to help and managed to find an old model that was returned with an esc fault so radio is all working and has offered to send out free of charge! If I can get it working again my boys gonna be well chuffed he's not used it for ages. Just wanted to mention it as I was pretty impressed with customer service like that especially as the car is over 3 years old, thumbs up to HPI. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  2. I've got other models but the maverick uses the 2in1 receiver so I can't separate them to test.
  3. Unfortunately I don't have two mate it's just the one model so only got one tx
  4. Already replaced servo the other day mate as I though that and it wasn't expensive but still the same . Tx is about £30 so didn't wanna chance that, could take it apart but not sure what I'd be looking for really, my gut feeling is there's something wrong with the steering wheel in tx as it seems really sensitive you barely have to touch it and steering twitches, but knowing my luck if I buy a new tx it will be the 2 in 1 esc reciever.
  5. Still not managed to solve this so just thought I'd bump this back up on the off chance to see if anyone can help.
  6. After some help with the lads ion mt, the steering became erratic last time he used it servo would keep twitching and wouldn't steer properly basically underivable. So I re binded Rx n tx made sure battery was charged checked connections and made sure nothing catching servo arm, no difference. Replaced the servo with a brand new unit still no good, I've now noticed the steering sometimes twitches when you are barely even touching the steering wheel on tx could it be this that's faulty? Or receiver? How would I find out which is at fault as new tx is about £30 I think so don't wanna take a chance unless I'm certain. Any tips would be much appreciated.
  7. Cool ta guys il let him know what he's dealing with and he can decide what he wants to do, as he's a complete beginner but does want to start up in the hobby so might be best for him to sell it and put money towards something more ideal.
  8. Stretch just realised you said caster truggy, judging by this picture I've just googled seems very similar
  9. So general thought is it's a mugen mbx? So good news is it's a good strong truggy bad news is if he breaks it he will struggle to repair it[emoji51] He's on Holiday this week he's gonna bring it back in when he's back il have a closer look see if there's anyway of telling if it's a conversion. It looks like it's been sitting a while as there's quite a few rusty parts so if it works it's gonna need a complete strip down and clean and re oil/grease but still think it's gonna need some new bits,@stretch if he doesn't decide to keep it and spend money on it il let him know your interested mate, cheers for the help guys and when I get anymore photos il put them up see if it sheds anymore light on it.
  10. Are they any good? do you think it might be a conversion or do they make electric truggys? I've heard the name but don't know anything about them.
  11. Hi guys, not been on here in a long while kids, house move and work have kept me away for a while models are packed away in the shed but hoping to dust em off this summer with any luck. I was wondering if anyone recognised the truggy above? Friend at work was given it by someone clearing out a garage and he knows nothing about them and wants to know if it's worth cleaning up and keeping,it's come with some decent lipos which I've charged for him and they were at storage voltage and cells balanced ok, all it needs is some radio gear which I'm gonna try and dig out for him to test it. He wants to keep it to use but if it's hard to get spares for or isn't a very good model he's not gonna bother spending money on it.
  12. Just got myself a new road bike won't let me upload the pic for some reason? It's a Scott speedster it's not top of the range it's all that funds would allow at moment but it's brand new and it's got me back on the road after a year as my giant road bike got stolen last summer, which leads me into my next question can anyone recommend me a decent bike insurer they know of or had a claim with without the usual hassle of arguing the value and trying to worm out of a claim? I've got a decent insurance approved lock and most of the time it will be in a locked shed but not taking any chances this time as I was totally gutted last time.
  13. Brilliant thanks mate il dig it out and see which one it is.
  14. Yeah I don't mind a bit of soldering and still got my old Xbox psu somewhere I'm guessing there's vids on you tube showing you what needs to be soldered.
  15. Right il steer clear of the touch screen then, and im looking at minimum of 100w, well hopefully if budget allows. Will I get anything from modelsport up to
