  1. hi guys, i need to do a proper coolant flush and wondering what is the best way in doing so? do i need to remove the thermostat? i have a drain tap that i can use but would it be better taking the lower radiator hose off? which of the lower hose do i remove?

my plan is took take that sparkplug out and disconnect the wire from that cylinder and start the car for an hour.

the water is coming from the coolant, it still drives and all that but i really could do without the back pressure though.

thing is though, when i took all the sparkplugs out and i just cranked it up and cylinder 2 was spitting water out so i am guessing that is the cylinder that is causing back pressure.

bet you are wondering why i want to do this?

the sealant that i have ordered have put on a special instructions on how to use it with the back pressure. my engine is getting alot of back pressure due to the headgasket, on the instruction it says try and find the sparkplug/cylinder that is causing the back pressure and leave tat sparkplug out.

i was just wondering, instead of taking one sparkplug out each time and starting the engine to see if the back pressure have gone, can i not just find out which cylinder has the least compression and just leave that sparkplug out?

just my bad luck i guess 😞

when my garage did a compression test on my old car, they just took all the spark plugs out and put the tester in each cylinder and cranked it up about 5 times each.

is it ok if i do that too?

about to do a compression test, do i just take all sparkplugs out then test each cylinder?

i was going to take the thermostat out but i havent got a spare gasket to hand.

have read that the gasket would have to be replaced if i took the thermostat out.

that was my first thought so rang around getting quotes, the cheapest one is £966.

it was a hard pass so only other option is try fix it myself.

i have never done a flush or changed coolant on any cars. i have only just learnt this past 2 weeks, i nearly blown my engine too because when i first done my ever first coolant change few weeks ago, i drained it out without doing what i did today( proper flush) then just topped it up, tightened the cap and drove it, it overheated straight away as there was air still in it.

i had to do some research on what my engine was doing, it was causing alot of back pressure which i thought was normal because i just thought it was normal air lock but it is not, my coolant is leaking through the cylinder and going through the exhaust, so gas is going in the coolant at the same time.

sorry to bore you mate, just wanted to say all that.

i ony just got the car and it has leaked on day one, found out the head gasket has gone and i am going to try a sealant addictives but it says i need to flush it clean.

so far i have managed to just fill it with water and keep engine running till thermostat opens then let engine cool down then drain it out. i have done this 4 times. the water looks nearly clean now.

  16. does anyone know what this big pipe is pleease?

there is something wrong with my car and i just cant seem to figure it out. loss of coolant and overheating but if i loosen the expansion tank cap slightly then it doesnt overheat. it seems like when i tighten the cap then it overheats and that big pipe gets really solid like its over pressure and when the pipe is soft, it doesnt feel like theres any water either.

i am going for boring cars 😄  my choices keeps chsnging the more i look at cars 😞

i was trying to get a 7 seater one, perhaps zafira?

my original choice was octavia but none near me at all so then looked at focus, then started looking at volkswagon passat estate.

my brain is actaully all over the place, ive never really had to look for cars before and didnt realise there is so much you have to check for in a car 😞

i think the problem lies where we live, if we lived nearer to the middle of the map, i would say it would be easier to find a car/dirt bike.
