  1. bump, now on eBay, open to offers.
  2. The rear piece where the motor mounts is 12mm, front piece is 10mm.
  3. Hi all, thought I'd start a thread of my ongoing MGT 8.0 conversion and story so far. So here's my AE MGT 8.0, I've had this truck nearly 10 years now and I love it to bits. I got back into the hobby a few months a go, ran the truck for a bit but the old 8.0 engine finally died so I put in a force 32: Was running OK but after about 6 or 7 tanks of fuel I realise nitro just isn't for me anymore, too messy and too much effort and I want to just enjoy this truck properly. Part of me just told me to buy a newer brushless model but i'm too attached to this truck to let it go and I love the design and layout of it, even if parts are rare to come by these days. So I stripped it down and cleaned off years of nitro gunk: I found a seller on eBay in Greece that makes some very nice motor mount/centre diff conversion kits so I bought one of them up. Solid machined aluminum, very nice quality! Adjustable for any standard centre diff you can think of! The seller also provided part numbers of drive shafts the correct length which was very helpful, here's everything that came so far: I went for a hyper 7 diff as they're cheap, common, pretty strong and come with the 46t spur required to fit in the chassis. Gone for a 16t pinion, just guessing atm no idea what size I will need. Still waiting on my motor to arrive, gone for a Banggood special "X-team". No idea how good it's gonna be but its 4090 size and 1300kv so should have plenty of torque for my needs. Plan is to run on 6S (2 x 3S) Also waiting on 2 generic battery trays from china. I fitted the centre diff and mocked up the ESC, should just about be enough room! Close! but fits very nicely: Will update once my motor arrives. Can't wait to enjoy this truck on BL power!
  4. Little update on the Baja. New gearing has been going awesome! still not broken anything major on this thing, the clone models have come a long way imo haha. Had a filthy session and ended up shredding both the rear tyres however. (they both ended up splitting!) So I bought some Hostile MX clones (Cant find the real ones anywhere anymore!) and cleaned her up. Highly recommend this model for people looking to get into large scale RC on a budget
  5. Converting my MGT 8.0 to brushless with a centre diff so this is no longer required. (same as a MTA4 S50, will fit that) Shifts into 2nd gear fine and is all smooth. This gearbox also has the rare forward only conversion. which makes it stronger and stops the annoying reverse problems. Parts for these trucks are getting rare these days, especially the FOC kit. Last gearbox I found sold at £80. Has a small issue that the spur gear shaft snapped off at the end slightly, I put a smaller nut on and has been perfectly fine. Comes with the CVDs and throttle linkages pictured too. Will take £80 posted (paypal goods) or shoot me an offer.
  6. Bought this for my MGT a few weeks a go but decided nitro is not for me anymore and will be converting that to brushless. Engine is only 6 fuel tanks used so only just about run in. Always ran on 25% optifuel and tuned rich. Comes with new alloy clutch and 18t Hobao vented clutch bell, original pullstart and the original box I paid £110 for it, so I will sell it for £110 posted (paypal goods) . Which I think is fair considering its only just run in and comes with clutch and bell and a new OS A6 plug.
  7. Changed the gearing on the Baja to 55/19 with a steel spur and put on a vented clutch bell. Keen to try it!
  8. Little update on the Baja. Been going really well! Had a few really bad landings on the weekend and all I broke was a shock cap. So I replaced all of them with fully alloy ones now, should solve that problem The one kinda big issue I did have was I stripped a spur gear, I was kind of expecting this as it's a common problem. My mate had a spare one but that one then melted!! I wanted to gear it up anyway as it was revving out pretty quick on the stock gearing, so I bought a metal 55t spur gear with the 19t pinion to match, that kit also came with a vented clutch bell. Cant wait to test it out on the weekend and get a bit more top speed
  9. Yeah it looks great imo. Yeah goes well 😁
  10. Took it for it's first proper run today after breaking in, this thing rips! Even did a couple of wheelies to my surprise! Video below, sorry about the quality especially in the first clip, I don't know what Farcebook does to videos sometimes lol.
  11. Got a Rovan baja in the mini fleet now, makes the MGT look small and the Hyper look tiny! Hopefully give it a rip on the weekend, breaking it in during the week
  12. Flysky GT3B Transmitter brand new in the box. No reciever. It came with a new RC but I already have a Flysky transmitter so not needed. £20 posted, paypal goods buyer pays fee.
  13. Hey guys! So bought my first 1/5th yesterday, turned up today! I've had plenty of 1/8th nitro and brushless but this is the first large scale petrol for me It's a Rovan 001 Stealth Baja with the 29CC engine (HPI clone). From what i've read it's not far off the HPI and all the parts are identical anyway. It's huge, loud and smelly I love it! Not ran it properly yet as was just starting to run it in then it rained, hopefully will get it out properly on the weekend. Here's some pics and a little vid, I'm well happy with it
  14. Are the lipos still available? I'll take em right away
  15. Both had a solid running session today with nothing broken New engine in the MGT is really nice, real powerful even while still running really rich as it's new! Can't wait to put a few tanks through it and lean it out Sorry about facebook compression, was also driving with 1 hand to record so a bit of a bad video 😂
  16. Put a new shell on the hyper and some t bone bumpers I had laying around. Couldn't find a hyper shell in stock anywhere so made a trophy buggy one fit. Not the prettiest thing but this buggy is function over form really anyway.
  17. Did some work on the Hyper over the week/ today. So after sitting around for a few years I checked the battery and it still had a storage charge surprisingly so did a few cycles with the charger and still seems to be fine Plugged it in, switched it on aaaand nothing. Servo was working but ESC completely dead! Dunno if it died before I stored it or what but yeah. Luckily my dad had a Toro ESC for his savage that he never used so I popped that in and away it went, forgot how powerful brushless can be 😂 After running for a bit one of the wheels suddenly had about 10 degrees of camber.... The bolt in the hub stripped out so I ordered some spare hubs and bolts and fixed that up. I also found some T bone bumpers from one of my old RC's in the shed and made them fit the Hyper. The stock shell was also battered and held together with cable ties so got a new one, it's actually a trophy buggy shell as hyper ones are out of stock everywhere but made it fit with some trimming. No where near as pretty as the MGT but this thing is about function over form anyway really
  18. Got a new shell on the MGT, Tamiya copper looks great imo!
  19. Cheers guys. Yeah love the copper, glad I chose it now wasn't sure about it.
  20. Hi all, used to post on here loads years a go with my dad (drexel) Recently started getting back into it over lock down and dug out the RC's. I have an AE MGT 8.0 and a brushless hyper 7. Got them out they looked a bit battered but all seemed well: Took them out for a run, the MGT was running well but then the starter shaft in the back of the engine fell out! As the truck is fairly old now parts are pretty hard to get. I looked everywhere but couldn't find a backplate for the .50 engine anywhere So, I bought a Force 32 as it seemed the best for price/performance. I quickly released the engine had no hope of fitting on the MGT engine mounts as the stock engine is so weird. So with some drilling, dremel and some swearing I managed to sort something out using some generic engine mounts. Spaced up using some nuts atm as the engine has to be mounted high but I will make up some proper spacers at some point. I managed to find a MGT 4.6 exhuast header luckily, but my exhaust was way too long to fit, luckily I have loads of RC bits in the shed and found one short enough: All seems solid enough. Not broken the new engine in yet that's tomorrow's job. I also got a new shell to replace the battered old one, decided on something different from grey or black turned out really nice in Tamiya Copper imo Will update on the Hyper 7 soon just waiting for some bits Glad to be back into it!
  21. Hey all, I used to be on here years a go with my dad (DreXel of mental Savage fame), probably lost interest a couple of years after the RC Jam. In the Bristol/SW area used to go under Birstol Bashers Got my RC's going again over lockdown and getting back into it! Quite a bit seems to have changed but I should catch up. Currently still have my MGT 8.0 which is fairly standard (need a new engine if I can't track down a backplate!) and my brushless converted hyper 7. Good to be on a forum again, FB groups are just not the same.
