  3. Hi all I am new to this game and would appreciate some answers to this question. When the main batery on the car is low on power is it normal to get a glitchy and erratic response to transmitter speed or steering changes? My Twin detonator does this of course it has an msc not an esc if that makes a diffrence. Reverend
  4. Thanks to all of you who have replied. It is all helpful and proves the worth of the forum. Reverend
  5. Neither of those just a regular guy with an offcentre sense of humour! Nice to be around though. Rev rofl
  6. Hi there. Two reasons. One its a nickname I've had with mi mates for years. Something to do with the fact that I am also a Church leader and the other because it has conotations with motoring which I have always been into REV!! erend!! Hope that helps clarify my 'handle' Reverend
  7. Blimey mate sending me pictures like that makes me go weak. I had a rangie for a while great motor but a money pit. Me thinks I will just stick to my twin detonator.....two new engines for that would cost me less than a new engine for a rangie! Nice to hear from you though. Reverend
  8. Cheers mate. Just about to have a look at the linl the Reverend
  9. Thanks for the welcome Ziggy. Sounds like a nice friendly forum with loads of sound advice. I already feel welcome. The reverend
  10. Hi I am looking for some advice on the use of my Tamiya Twin Detonator in damp conditions. I used it this afternoon. It was not raining but after todays rain there was moisture on all the running surfaces. It seemed to get a bit glitchy and did not correctly respond to throttle or steering towards the end of my run. I stopped using it and of course there was damp on all the main components and electrics. I have dried it all off with an airline and left it indoors to fully dry out. Should I not really use it in such conditions and if so what about the guys who use them in mud etc. How do they get on? Thanks The Reverend
  11. Thanks for the tip about posting in the right section....ah well that's newbies for ya! The Reverend
  12. I am a newbie to this forum. Read my intro in the relevant section. My question is when charging a 7.2v battery pack my charger has 4 otion of charging at 1 - 4 amps. I have used the high setting as there are no instructions with the battery or the charger. I presume the lower ampage will just charge more slowly. Am I right or wrong? I love to learn but not at the expense of setting the vicarage on fire. Thanks to all who reply in advance. The Reverend (but not a real one)
  13. Many thanks for your reply it was most helpful. rev
  14. rofl Let the Reverend introduce himself. I am quite new to RC cars but did venture into it like most Dads when my lad was about 12, now he's 30 and 6'11" so don't mess wth him! we bought a Tamiya monster beetle which he still has we had loads of fun and did some upgrades. Then he got interested in real cars and er women! I have been off sick for some while and needed something to keep me sane that wasn't too stressful 9or expensive). having always been in the motor trade the real thing was too much like work and anyway as you get plder they become a means of transport and who needs the expense and aggro that come with playin with em! I have done quite a lot of full size off road driving and living in Wales that was ideal but again it was becoming politically incorrect by the constant army of doo gooders and tree huggers that it was being spoilt by the risk of confrontation with antis. Not being one that wants to offend or upset people even though I was not doing anything illegal or stupid. Enter the Tamiya Twin Detonator. Great fun, not too expensive if you break it and being electric quiet and unobtrusive........it does worry me though that I have to connect it to the mains to charge it up after each run. What will the huggers have to say about that?? Anyway I took it out on Thursday and found a place on the Denbigh Moors that was quiet and ideal. An area that had been quarried and had some nice mud and steep slopes. great fun. The I saw a sign that said area of Special Scientific Interest no motor vehicles!! He He apparently the Chief Constable of North Wales can confiscate MV's being used illegally on the site and crush it. This gave me immense satisfaction and I was fine until the police helicopter came over..............bugar better hide my car just in case. How long will it be before some green cottons on to us?? Nitro boys watch out!! For those of you with sensitive stomachs no animals or plants were hurt in this exercise but TD did rearrange a few stones and might have killed an ant or three!! Just in case you were wondering I am not a real reverend but do believe in God so there!! Hope to hear from some of you. The rev!
  15. I have just purchases the above model and thought a short review may be of interest. The kit can be purchased for around £98 on the internet. I am a novice and found the instructions very easy to follow and the parts are all shown as actual size relevant to each buil section. Even the screws and nuts etc can be easily identified. Overall it took me about 8 hours work. Probably the most fiddly bit is the stickers for the bodyshell. I was a little apprehensive about the first run but it was very straightforward. It was a quick as I expected and very capable on gravel and short grass. The only hiccup I had was a screw came out of the steering servo and I briefly lost control until i realised what was happening. I purchased a 3200 battery and this has made an amzing difference to the 1700. The runs times are 3 times as long and the pickup is sharper. All in all this is a nice model for a begginer easy to build and easy to use. Hop ups are the next step! watch this space! Anyone out there advise on any improvements please. One happy Rev! rofl
