  1. I have just bought myself one of the 12a goolrc esc. It seems good for the money so far! No frills and can be a little Jerky but it runs cool and fast!
  2. That's alright! Mine is fitted to a losi 8ight truggy, so I have rage esc, scream Motor, spektrum radio, and a ace servo, I think I have solved it now, just need to run it on a full battery and see how it does! I'm impressed at goolrc, just bought one of their esc for my buggy, for £30 it's pretty good, no frills but does what it should!
  3. I have it on a losi mini 8ight and I think due to its size and power it works really well, I always have it switched on a little bit as its almost impossible to drive on 3s otherwise. I have just converted my full size 8ight buggy and truggy to brushless, and for those I feel no need for it, they are stable enough for the power, so my guess is its all to so with the size that makes the difference!
  4. SO I had fun on track with this lot!! Had a few issues throughout the day. but still had fun! truggy kept having some kind of power issues, it would run fine for 3/4 of a lab, then it would stutter, and each time I went to pull away it would turn the motor enough to nudge forward and die again. I think I have worked this out the the internal BEC on the rage esc being a bit weak, so I fitted an old capacitor I used to run on my drift car, and hopfully that will help and stop the RX browning out! shall see next time I run it! then the buggy was running really well, no problems at all, brought it off the track to cool down, went to turn it back on later and it was dead, esc powered on, and drove power to the RX and servo, but no motor drive, when I got back home and clipped the motor into my rage esc and it ran fine, likewise scream motor onto buggy esc and nothing worked So I have ordered a cheap GoolRC esc for now to get it back up and running, and I will fit a hobbywing at some point once I have some spare cash!! overall though I had fun, just a shame I came home with two poorly cars!"
  5. this is true, i suppose a motor running at constant rpm will be less under pressure that one thats speeding and slowing constantly! well I will stick with this goolRC one for now, whenever it arrives! and maybe upgrade it to the hobbywing at some point, unless i really like the goolrc and thor motor combo
  6. I will have a losi 8ight 2.0eu roller for sale at some point, Full losi brushless conversion kit fitted, just add electrics and away, just waiting for a 3.0 to turn up! I want 130 for that! Depends how soon you want it! I'm hoping to have my 3.0 next month!
  7. Yer it is too high for track I would say, it does run fast around the field, I would have though bashing would be harder work, im quite light on the throttle around the track, few stabs of full throttle on the straights, bashing tends to be flat out round a field and try to do wheelies!
  8. It is the 4276, I can't find any info on it anywhere, No worries I will leave the rage then, it seems to run OK in the truggy, that might upgraded at some point! I think I'm going to buy the goolrc one for now, just as a cheap get it going replacement, I have already been looking at the hobbywing max 8 combo, so when I have some spare cash I will probably upgrade the whole lot to the hobbywing combo, and keep this as a spare or sell it on! Quite new to the bigger electrics, run 1/10 brushless for a few years now on 2s, bit of a step up to 1/8th on 4s!
  9. Hi! I bought my losi 8ight buggy with a etronix photon 150a esc, and a team magic Thor 2500kv motor. On a wet track I managed to kill the output on the esc which was a shame as it was running well! I can't find any specs for this motor, is there any way to work out what sort of current draw will be expected from that motor? I run a hpi rage esc on my truggy with a scream motor which I lower kv, and that esc is only rated to 80a so not sure if the motor will kill it...
  10. Yep as above, I have run a dx3s for a few years now, never had any real problems with radios, occasionally I have had issues with range but I thibk that was atmospheric Conditions causing it! I now run 6 models off my dx3s 2 nitro, as above failsafe set to brakes, and 4 electrics, with failsafe set to neutral!
  11. I just fitted 1/10 rally block wheels and tyres to my buggy they where pretty cheap 1/10 buggy wheels and tyres might suit the truggy better? They are all 12mm hex! Then you have room for some screws
  12. Sound and lighting engineer, rigger, along with stage builder, structures and van driver! Good fun, long hours, sometimes very long! Pays good, but takes a lot if evenings and weekends do the rc do have to wait sometimes!
  13. £20 posted Bottom deck, top deck, diff casing and shock towers covered
  14. Stainless steel screw set? Much better than the standard cheese screws
  15. Yep I have the esc but no program box, pretty boring listening to the beeps to program, let me know if you decide to split it up!
  16. How do you find the electrics in the truggy? Ever have the esc cutting out St all? I've had a bit of an issue with mine cutting out, I'm hoping it as the radio cutting out from the built I'm bec being a bit weak, hopfully going to give it a run today with a capacitor fitted which will hopfully sort it!
  17. Got the fleet ready for tomorrow! 20180210_205457 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180210_205545 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180210_205553 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180210_205600 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180210_205605 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180210_205854 by ben hawkes, on Flickr All ready for a play tomorrow at nene valley!!
  18. As title! If anyone has a spring set that would be great, I foolishly sold my old buggy, and as it had better shocks on that my truggy I swapped them over, without realising the springs are differnt lengths! Ideally want some grey fronts and purple rears, but a full set would be great! Ta
  19. Picture if the truggy in the field last weekend! FB_IMG_1518012250643 by ben hawkes, on Flickr
  20. Done a bit more on the cars! Well firstly I modified my life receiver, it was too large for my losi battery boxes, as it was a 2 series 2 parallel pack. So I have now made it into two 2 series no parallel packs 20180203_205533 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180204_160348 by ben hawkes, on Flickr And then while the soldering iron was out, I re soldered the motor wires for the buggy, as they were horrendously too long! 20180205_205929 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180205_215950 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180205_215956 by ben hawkes, on Flickr I also changed the pinion gear from a 19t to a 17t, hopfully should help keep the temps down and acceleration up! So that one is all ready for the track on Sunday! I also picked up a new shell for it, bit that will be sorted in a few weeks! 20180205_133546 by ben hawkes, on Flickr Should be good! Next up is truggy, and then build up the new 4.0!
  21. Cheers! Don't think I would run anything else anymore! My 1.0 just took everything I threw at it and came back for more, hopfully the newer versions in slowly upgrading to are the same! Hiofully have then all on track next weekend at nene valley for a little bash! Shall see how they do might enter the electric buggy in some winter rounds if I get time!
  22. so there were the three!! truggy, 2.0 brushless and the mini 8ight! IMG_20180120_102214_239 by ben hawkes, on Flickr but then today a deal came up that I could not let go! Losi 8ight 4.0 nitro race roller!! with a whole bunch of spares, diffs, shocks, bolts everything!! 20180127_123804 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180127_123808 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180127_123826 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180127_124139 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180127_123856 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180127_124143 by ben hawkes, on Flickr So this one will be set up with my old nitro engine from the 1.0 for a bit of practice, then hopfully ill get it set up with my brand new engine ready for a summer series!
  23. Sothe truggy is done, but I am yet to actually run it in anger! hopfully tomorrow!!! but then along came the new one!! bought a Losi 8ight brushless 20180113_190827 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180113_231022 by ben hawkes, on Flickr 20180113_231030 by ben hawkes, on Flickr this was was RTR with no batteries, some old HPI radio gear but all in pretty good!! so out came the old radio gear, replaced with a spektrum receiver linked to my dx3s then soldered on new XC60 connectors so I can run in sereis same as the truggy!
