  1. I'll be fitting the grille detail that came with the shell, and the light buckets. I won't be fitting the bumpers to keep it close to the real one, I may get some mirrors though.
  2. Not much to update, but the wheel hexes came today and I now have the wheels all mounted up and working a treat. The rears were easy as expected, up front was a bit more hassle. I ended up drilling a hole in the hex deep enough to sit the bearing in, then opened the centre holes of the wheels slightly and put another bearing on the outside to hold the wheels on. Works well No pics as it looks the same as yesterday lol.
  3. See the first post in this thread mate: http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/128529-bashing-spots-in-and-around-brizzle
  4. Would have loved to have been out this weekend, but the ESC I bought for my Hyper is no good, and for an all-dayer at Nunney I want all my cars running really. I will have a replacement by next weekend, so if we do Nunney next weekend me and my boys will be there
  5. Thanks guys Ordered some paints today, and an LED kit, the shell comes with light buckets so should look pretty good Hopefully the hexes will arrive today so I can get the wheels mounted up properly.
  6. Thanks for the link, he has done what I'm doing with the rears, using mini 8ight hex adapters, but he's left the fronts stock. I've got a couple of ideas though, I'll get 'em on somehow EDIT, I just read the rest of the thread and he did indeed fit a hex to the front. It seems that he had the hex drilled to accept a bearing, which is actually what I had in mind to do.
  7. OK, update time. The shell and wheels arrived today, so as soon as I got home from work I wasted no time in cutting the shell and mock-fitting the wheels: I've got to say I'm REALLY pleased with the way it fits and the stance. Some minor fine tweaking to do to the ride height, but over all I'm really happy with the way it sits. I've ordered some mini 8eight hexes, these will allow me to fit the rear wheels directly on, but I'll have to get a little 'creative' with the fronts. Only other real stumbling block will be the rear body posts. The fronts are perfect as they are, but I'll have to extend the rears as they are nowhere near the shell at the moment.
  8. Yeah I think you are probably right TBH. I was hoping it would be OK as I've been running two 150A Turnigy Trackstar ESCs for a long time with zero problems, one of which I run my 1515 on 5s with. Physically it's the same size as the 150a (doesn't mean much I know) so I was expecting it to work just as well. I'll probably just sell it on and pick up a xerun....
  9. Pretty sure that's not the problem, the motor works fine with another ESC so the eliminates the soldering on the motor bullets, and they plug directly into the troublesome ESC.
  10. Pretty certain it's not the bullet connections as both the 1512 and SC401 work fine with another ESC. It's not the battery connections either, otherwise it wouldn't run the 1515 :/ That was my initial suspicion, but it works fine with my 1515 :/
  11. I have a strange problem with this ESC: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__17979__turnigy_160a_1_8th_scale_sensorless_esc_w_fan.html When I try to use it with a Castle 1512 2650kv it just cogs badly and doesn't even start turning, and just heats up the motor, ESC and motor wires. It's the exact same story if I try it on a Tenshock SC401 4000kv. However, when I try it on my Castle 1515 2200kv it works just fine?? Is it a motor timing issue? I'm a bit loathe to spend the money on the programming box to change the timing if it's not going to solve the problem. And unfortunately you can't adjust 'initial power' even with the box..
  12. Yeah I just called them, he seemed very nice and helpful. He said the order was posted yesterday, he had just forgotten to update it on my account. Should be with me today or tomorrow
  13. I ordered a shell from them (the only UK stockist of this particular shell) on Friday morning, and the order status is still 'processing'. Before I call them does anybody else have experience with them?
  14. It's not hex at all, the front has bearings in the wheels, and at the rear the pin picks up directly on the wheel. At the rear it should be easy, I should be able to drop a standard 12mm hex straight on, but the front may prove a little more tricky.
  15. I'll be trimming it so it doesn't have the deep front air dam and sideskirts, so yeah it should resemble the shape of the real one pretty well
  16. I've had the urge to do a rally project for a while but I kept putting it on the back burner due to my other RCs taking priority. Anyway, I was looking for a new shell for my Losi Mini Short Course, and it transpires that the wheelbase and width are pretty much identical to Tamiya M-chassis dimensions. So that got me thinking, the M-SC chassis would make an ideal rally car. It's huge fun to drive being RWD, it's tough, and it jumps really nicely thanks to loads of supension travel and decent ground clearance. So with that I had to decide on a body shell. There aren't many shells of RWD cars to fit the M-chassis, but thankfully ABC Hobby do some that are just the ticket. I settled on the Datsun 1200/Sunnny Coupe: I have ordered these wheels: And some Tamiya mini rally block tyres. Here is the chassis as it is now: I have already made some decent upgrades, including alloy threaded shocks, alloy uprights/hubs all round and alloy front lower plate. It just needs a good clean up really, then I need to find a way to fit appropriate wheel hexes to take the mini wheels. Here's the pic of real Sunny used for rallying that inspired me to go for the Sunny shell: The rally blocks arrived today, hopefully the wheels and shell won't be far behind
  17. Yep, the diffs are silly money. My son has one and has been running RWD for a long time due to blowing one of the diffs and not buying another one due to the cost.
  18. Hi Kirk! Yeah that's just a tensioner, was needed after fitting the smaller pulley for countersteer. We just used bits we had lying around to make a tensioner rather than trying to source a shorter belt, which would have been guess work anyway. The pulley with the one way bearing is actually from a Cyclone and needed some modding (and swearing) to make it fit on the TCX That chassis drifts lovely BTW
  19. Yep, as long as you pay the fees Will PM you now
  20. No, the current ESC will work fine with crystal receivers
  21. I just do mine up super tight with a socket wrench, and check tightness every so often. Works most of the time but they do still sometimes work loose. Only real solution is a bit of threadlock I'm afraid.
