Not sure of anything really similar to the Muggy combo. 40-series wheel/tyre combos work well to stop sidewall flex, but overall size is actually bigger. I really like my Axial offset wheels with 40-series Big Joes, great for bashing. They are heavy though.

You're just adding more resistance by making adapters so you're better off desoldering them and replacing them. But yeah, don't cut them.

Very nice, I do like Losi trucks, I miss my Muggy. As for wheels/tyres, try to track down some Muggy wheels and tyres, they are basically oversized truggy wheels.

Packs do tend to vary, but in my experience if the cells are in balance at the beginning of the charge they stay balanced to the end of the charge. This is using my iMAX B6 chargers.

You don't NEED to balance charge every time, but it's good practice. I usually put mine on balance charge first, monitor the cell voltages for a little while, and if they're in balance then I just do a normal charge (I still keep the balance lead plugged in to keep an eye on the cell voltages). I'm not familiar with that charger, but on every charger I've used simply plugging the balance lead in doesn't make the charger do a balance charge, you have to manually select the balance charge mode.

The charger will automatically stop when the correct voltage is reached.

I concur. Sorry for the thread derailment ZombieBite, I was merely trying to get across that you didn't need to wait for that bag to come before getting your Firestorm back out and playing.

Of course nobody wants that to happen, but my points still stand. Nobody knows the reason that Lipo went up. The pack may have been puffed, it may have shorted, who knows? And from what I gathered from the video he left it charging unattended. That's a big no-no. That's a horrible thing to have happened, for sure. But thankfully it's a rare occurrence.

Lipo and Li-ion are essentially the same thing, particularly from a safety point of view. Nominal voltage per cell is identical, 3.7v. There's just more cells in the average RC battery. A mobile phone battery is no more or less safe than an RC battery, the main difference is that RC batteries tend to sustain more abuse. There's no reason NOT to want to use one, I'm merely saying that the NEED to use one is massively over stated. Peace of mind? Sure. An essential part of owning and using a Lipo battery? Nope. Not a valid comparison. Statistically, you are thousands of times more likely to have an accident in a car than have a well looked after Lipo vent on you. When you wear a seatbelt you are mitigating a very real danger that you face on every journey, you are mitigating dangers that are out of your hands. How dangeruous a Lipo can be is 99% down to how it has been used and looked after. If you know that you look after your Lipos and don't abuse them, charge them correctly, and don't ignore any puffing, then you've already massively mitigated the danger. I'm not saying DON'T use Lipo bags, ammo tins etc, I'm simply saying that the NEED to do so is overstated.

Not convinced of what? People are WAY too scared of lipos. I assume you have a mobile phone? Are you scared of that too? Sure, a Lipo bag/ammo tin/nuclear bunker provide peace of mind, but they really aren't essential. Storing at storage voltage is a given of course, but that comes under 'not abusing' your Lipo. And yes, a metal tin makes sense as a place to store them, but again that's not essential, people don't keep their phones, tablets and laptops in a metal box Also, I don't know how the owners of hobby shops and warehouses sleep at night knowing there's stacks and stacks of Lipos protected by nothing more than the cardboard box they come in, just waiting to randomly burst into flames and take out everything within a three mile radius My point was that if he's itching to give his Firestorm a run there's really no need to wait for that bag to turn up.

Lipo bags are a nice safety net, but I've never needed one in my 5 years of using Lipo batteries. As long as the battery has not been abused, and is charged correctly then there's no reason the battery should spontaneously burst into flames. You don't charge your phone in a Lipo bag do you? As for tinkering, I agree, I enjoy that side of the hobby as much as actually running them

Correct, any non XL shell will fit the standard Savage, weather it's nitro or flux.

Nope, just two sizes on the Savage. Standard and XL. I don't know anything about the Revo so can't answer that lol.

There are only two sizes (not including the XS of course). The 21/25/3.5, 4.6, and flux are all the same size, and there's the XL which is bigger. No shell I've ever bought has been pre-cut for nitro, either HPI or Pro-Line.

Blu tack doesn't last long in my experience. It turns into a nasty paste and doesn't lock any more. Shoe Goo works well.

My Tenshock x802l V2 1550kv arrived yesterday, threw it on last night and tried it at 15/52 with 5s and it wasn't happy, cogging quite badly and the motor got hot to the touch quite quickly. I swapped to the 11t pinion and it was much happier, loads of torque and the motor stayed pretty cool. Was only a short run though. Speeds seemed fine, theoretical top speed is around 40mph, not the fastest in the world but plenty for a basher and fine for me. Having said that, I may try a 6s if I can find one that will fit my tray.

Looks amazing, is it accessible with a 4x4?

They've actually just replied, that was very quick. They've confirmed that they've received the order and are looking into why it's not showing on my account, so I can stop worrying now lol. I've never had any customs charges on my previous orders with them so fingers crossed it'll be ok this time too.

Anybody have any recent experience ordering from Funshobby.com? I've used them a few times in the past, and never had any problems, always fast shipping etc. But I've just made an order today, and it all went through OK with PayPal, however I didn't get an order confirmation email and when I log into my Funshobby account it's showing 'no orders'. I've emailed them with the PP transaction number, but in the mean time whilst I wait for an answer has anyone else come across this issue?

Going to stick to 5S for now to save having to buy new batts, besides I'm not sure I'll get a 6S that fits the single battery tray I've got.

I'll probably go with a 15t, simply because I have one lying around... Anything around 45-55mph is fine for me anyway, the Savage is a basher not a speed demon

I never measured the speed, but calculated the theoretical speed at 50-55mph, that was on 5s with 11/52 gearing. That's plenty of speed for me. With the Tenshock I'll change to a 14 or 15t pinion which will give me similar sorts of speeds.

The Castle actually coped pretty well, it was geared accordingly and temps were fine. The reason it died was because the end cap came off on a bash, I had recently given the motor a bit of a service to check bearings etc, and forgot to thread lock the screws, one too many big landings shook them loose, the end cap came off at full throttle, and the motor grenaded itself. The Tenshock is 4274, same dimensions as the Castle. I was going to go for a Leopard 4082 as they are great motors and the one in my Muggy worked really well, but I want to give the Tenshock a go as I have Tenshocks in another couple of models and they are cracking motors, and the 802L is known to work well in the Savage. Also, I want it back up and running ASAP and Funshobby are usually super fast with their shipping.

It's a Castle 1515 2200kv. It's black because it's a Traxxas unit. It recently died on me though, so soon to be replaced with a Tenshock X802L v2 1550kv.
