  1. It's possible, but it needs to have a very high RPM to start the engine, some cordless drills just don't spin fast enough. You also run the risk of engine damage if it floods, as cordless drills lack the flood protection cut-out of an actual roto-start unit.
  2. I have the same system on the way (ordered on the 6th of this month so I guess I have a few weeks to wait yet), I'm the guy that 'warren17c' was confusing you with, it will be going into my drifter. Like I said in my original thread, for £25 delivered it's well worth a punt, even if it does turn out to be fake. I'll be running it on a Turnigy 2S Lipo so we'll see if I get the same cogging issues.
  3. Not the same thing though is it? Paintings are made to be looked at, that is their sole purpose. RC models are made to be used, otherwise they might as well just be static models. Like I've said, I don't get 'shelf queens', however if that floats your boat then fine, each to their own, but that paintings analogy is frankly ridiculous.
  4. That happened because it wasn't a hardened clutch bell. If you use a steel spur you HAVE to use a hardened steel clutch bell.
  5. Nice build, but are those wheels 14mm hex? I'd go with 17mm hex's TBH, the torque of a brushless will strip 14mm hex's in no time, surely?
  6. They look like standard big block engines to me, so pretty much any big block should drop straight it Twin LRP Z30R's would be fun
  7. My Savage with a Blitz shell:
  8. I really don't 'get' shelf queens. At all. I just find them pointless, you might as well just build a static model. Having said that, at least if you have lots of pointless bling they are something nice to look at, but completely stock RTR models? I can't understand why you'd do that And shelf queen radio gear? Are you serious? Sorry, but that is just a bit mental You are joking right?
  9. Presumably you've tried a fresh glow plug?
  10. Jumper: I bought it as a roller with no engine so I can't compare it to a stock Lightning. When I first got it I was running it with a HPI 3.5 and it was a little underpowered, but with the Z28R it absolutely flies, it's really well suited to it :)

  11. That's the place I mean, it's not really waste ground though, there are boardwalks through it and it's kind of a 'reserve'. I can't see it being a problem when it's quiet, but I'm just wandering if anybody has bashed there without any issues Yeah Dawlish Warren is a lovely part of the country, we love it down here
  12. I'm currently on holiday in Dawlish Warren in Devon, down near the beach there is some fantastic ground for bashing, various types of surface, loads of jumps etc, it would be perfect for a bash. It is however fairly close to busy public areas. I've looked at the signs and there is nothing regarding RC cars, just the usual no fires/BBQs. We're coming back here for a weekend in October, I'd love to bring the Savvy and Lightning truggy down with me, has anybody ever bashed down here without any problems?
  13. I use cheapo ebay 1800mah rechargeables in my Spekky, I get 11.2v on a full charge, it fairly quickly drops to 10.8ish but they last a fair while before dropping down to the 9v alarm. I recharge them in the TX, they get a little warm but never anywhere near hot enough to melt anything :/
  14. How much for one of the Turnigy lipo's and the charger combined with postage?
  15. I've still got that shell lying around
  16. The 6-channel orange one on eBay is an aircraft receiver, these use a different protocol to the 'surface' receivers used with the DX3, so as far as I know it won't work with your DX3. You need one of the SR series receivers. Keep an eye on the for sale section in this forum, they come up all the time but expect to pay
  17. Fair enough, it just shows what a great, diverse hobby this is that we can all enjoy it in different ways
  18. Each to their own, but I don't think I'll ever 'get it'. Why not just build a regular non-rc model? I remember seeing a Savage shelf queen for sale that the owner had even bought several engines for, all unused just sat on the shelf next to the Savage. I just don't understand it.... Also, I read in somebody's sig on this forum that even their 2.4ghz radio gear is unused and are shelf queens. Just.....what???
  19. Ditto. I'm in no hurry for it so if it takes a month to get here it's no biggie It does seem daft if they are counterfiet though, it's a brushless combo for
  20. Ok I probably should have asked the question before ordering it but it seemed very cheap for a brushless combo so I impulse bought it: EZrun combo It's only going into my drift car so it's hardly going to be stressed. Good for the money?
  21. Does look like a great track, I'll definitely come along to the next one
