  1. Hey folks, so now I have more electric trucks than I know what to do with and I often take two or three out at a time, It can be a slow process charging battery's up on my little IMAX b6's so I'm looking for a charger that can do a couple at a time, don't really have a budget as such but I'd like to keep it under 70quid or if the right thing grabs me ill save up some more lol. Thanks in advance for any help :-)
  2. This would be a decent cheap esc for you and it's waterproof http://www.modelsport.co.uk/mtroniks-tio-rock-crawler-esc/rc-car-products/37671 as for wheel weights you could use some lead flashing like they use on your roof or pop down your local tyre fitters and buy some stick on wheel weights or buy some from rcbitz on eBay.
  3. Yeap you can fit which ever connector you like just make sure you have the + and - the right way
  4. I have both and think they are both great trucks, Yeap the twin hammer has its faults but so do scx10s and wraiths every rc car does, if I listened to reviews and people bitching about what's wrong with a car I'd not own anything, also it depends what you want the truck for? I think the twin hammers has a lot potential and I can't wait to use it again
  5. Hey Noj, You have any luck with the esc set up?
  6. Noj, I used this set of instructions http://www.horizonhobby.com/pdf/DYN4927WP_Manual.pdf once I'd read it a couple of times I got it sorted if you get stuck I go throw it with you tonight when I'm home from work
  7. I've been mucking about with my Twin hammers a fair bit yesterday and a fair bit today till the rain kicked in, yeap it's got a few issues with the shifting servo not being set up well, the steering servos a little slow and setting the esc up is not as simple as using a usb link or programming card, But i have never owned a Rc car yet thats not had some issue out of the box or needed something replacing even spending over 700 quid on a baja hpi coudlent even manage to grease the diff or fit a decent throttle servo or even a kill switch, i could go on to list stuff with all the cars i have from hpi/axial/kyosho/tamiya, But this Twin Hammers a lot of fun to drive seems pretty capable and i think it has a lot of potential, Vanquish products are in the process of working on upgrades so they must have some faith in it and id imagine others will follow suit
  8. Nice, looks quick you got it dancing well looks like a good spot to practice your drifting
  9. Ah lets hope the weather clears and you can get a vid up Also where do you mount your go pro up? i was a bit worried about sticking it on the shell was thinking of rigging mine up inside somehow you had a chance to stick a few packs through it if so what are your run times like? Also i wouldn't worry about that muppet jang i don't think his videos are the be all and end all and at the end of the day it's only his opinion.
  10. Aye indeed, tyvm for starting this it's nice to have some where to see other like minded folks projects.
  11. Seans right a guide to esc/motor combos would be a good start. You could also possibly have a section on : Wheels and Tyres Servos Suitable chassis Bodys I'll have a think on it see what else i can come up with.
  12. Aye it is 1/9 some chaps over in America found some good tyres and wheel combos ill find the thread to it and have a look
  13. lol ty, No its the Body from the Kyosho MP9 Buggy as are the side guards, i think it should have come with some side guards at least, it did come with a little cover over the esc but tbh it was a **** poor effort so it got turned into m'n'm holder Aye thats not a bad idea of making a mold of it as its under the actual shell it would'nt matter if it turned out a little rough. I like the idea of some inner arches i think i have some tube at work i can use as a mould i'll bring some home from work and see, i shall check wickes on the way home this week and see what their drainage pipe sizes are too. Also need to look into a better charger would be nice to do a couple of batteries at a time. Yeah i think if i keep using them on hard surfaces at full tilt they will wear out, tbh i did not think that was to bad of a price for x4 its dam cheaper than my bajas tyres and i think my scx10 ones were more lol If this snow comes like they say i will need to look for some spiked ones lol.
  14. OO this will be exciting! i do hope there will be videos of this baby in action?
  15. Thanks Andy, I thought id do a build/car thread on this nice to find a few others into rally, yeah it was not cheap but i had some cash for xmas and done a few hours overtime at work i should really sell my drifter and firestorm and some other stuff as i don't use them lol. Yeah i was looking at the underside today i suspect i'll use a heavy duty tape to shield it unless i get one of the Team Associated under cover things, i like the pva glue idea thats rather cunning! Right today i finished trimming up the underbody and got it mounted up with velcro, its pretty close on the rear wheels i'll see how it goes i might end up reshaping the side guards but id rather not if possible. i also used some of the foam from my peli case to plug the rear end where there was a gap it weights nowt and sits in there without any need to fix it I may cut some holes in the underbody for more airflow over the esc, if i do i may fill the holes with body mesh it will stop most of the crap but still help with airflow or i could mount up a couple of small fans to draw air in, but it never really gets hot here for more than a few days anyways lol. So i took it out for the first time today outside where i live, dam its quick a lot quicker than i thought it would be so much fun though. So i need to get some road tyres for it and another set of rally tyres as i expect these will soon wear lol A couple of pics of it with the shell on.
  16. Hey folks! So i've always had a Rc rally car of some type or another currently i have a Tamiya DF03-RA which i've been having a play with over the last few months as id forgot how much fun they were! But the only thing I never liked was it was a little small in size, so i had a look around and after a lot of reading and googling i settled on a Kyosho DRX VE. So i ordered this lot: Kyosho DRX VE with a Subaru Shell MP9 Body MP9 Side Guards Spektrum RX Shoe Goo Plasterboard Tape Gorilla Tape 6mm Nylocs So First thing i started on was the shell as they seem to be made of some rather thin plastic. I started off smearing some Shoe Goo about then laying the Plasterboard tape into it this is very messy lol It was the first time i had ever done this to a shell so i learned a lot, made a few mistakes and will do it a lot differently next time. I was a little surprised how much of a difference it made it will be interesting to see how it holds up in the inevitable crashes lol. Next i went over the inside with Gorilla tape for some added strength and I figured it couldn't hurt to give it some more protection. Next i fitted the Side Guards using the existing holes in the chassis I had to cut the guards around the rear diff assembly a little to allow them to fit. As a result of fitting the side guards it caused two new issues i needed to address, First i had to raise the battery try up as it couldn't sit in the original position due to the side guards, to do this i used 4 shock balls from my SCX10 kit these picked it nicely and with some slightly longer screws it was sorted. Once id picked the batter tray up it then fouled the spur so i cut a notch out of it. I also fitted a couple of velcro straps to secure the battery. Then i cut a small strip of aluminium and stuck it over the hole which will protect the battery and still provide the gap needed for it to clear the spur, It also got a strip of tape over it lol. Next job i swapped out the stock RX and put it in my Spektrum one i will probably change the stock servo but it can stay in for a while until i get used to the car, i also set up the esc so the lipo cut off was at 3.2v and adjusted the end points on the servo throw so its not going to far. Next i cut out the MP9 body so it will fit over the side guards and thats where i have got to at the moment. Jobs to do : Adjust the side guards near the rear wheels for more clearance as i think once i velcro the body and guards it will be very tight. Fit rear guards on the shock arms to give the rear drive shafts some protection Fit some type of chassis protection, Tape, plastic sheet/wrap and maybe something over the odd little hole under the spur ( why is that there anyways? lol ) So Any thoughts suggestion for where i should be heading or doing id love to hear! Thanks for taking the time to read this, also sorry about the pics my dslr is in for repair and i only had my phone.
  17. A small town called Chesham in Buckinghamshire.
  18. Hey folks, this is my DF-03RA she's pretty standard I've added a normal powered brushless system which makes it nippy but not stupidly quick keeps it kinda scale imo, a slipper clutch to save me killing parts of the drive train a set of decent Alu shocks as the stock plastic ones compressed like a fat birds girdle, I'll change it over to my spektrum handset once another Rx crops up cheap atm it's on the original radio set.
  19. i never did much this weekend home life kept me to busy lol
  20. i have no idea where would be any good in north london, but id be game to catch a train/drive in, i live outside london at the end of the met line here : http://goo.gl/maps/Uy5Ir

  23. Have you tried a very strong mix of bleach and hot water, leave it to soak for an hour or so and give it a good scrub with some scotch bright, worked well for the stuff I've done in the past.
  24. So took the truck to work today and the speed gun, managed to hit 37mph on rough ground with a 2s, i was gonna get a 3s but i had to get a pair of tyres for my Clio 182 as officer dibble was getting upset with my lack of tread, if the field outside drys out i can try on smooth short grass and see what it gets, i'll also order a 3s once i find one and get paid next week
  25. If the field outside my house dry's out from its marsh like status this week i can tell you what it hits on 2s with my speed gun, i must get a 3s to have a play with
