  1. did you get a manual with the car? if so there is an exploded diagram in there you can follow. its a case of looking at it and see what needs to come off to replace it
  2. i am not sure on that you know. as when a cell is cold the voltage drops. when i run my car there is a difference in run time in the winter and summer so say you stick them in the freezer at storage voltage the voltage will drop and could drop below minimum voltage thus ruining the battery. i like to keep mine at room temp
  3. i think all chargers are a basic menu, so choose nimh, then for the 1800mah battery set the charge amps to 1.8 and 4.2 amps for the 4200mah battery thats a quick charge for both, you can set it to anything under those amps and it will just take longer to charge. the LiFe and lipo difference are not that much i don't think. they are both lithium based so can just be as volatile as each other if handled badly. they did do LiFe batteries for running the car but i don't think says where very good due to lower voltages so by the looks of it they have just turned into RX and TX packs.
  4. oh regarding the charger i can't say if its good or bad as i have not ever used one. but from what i've read on here people seem to like them
  5. well the Life battery you linked to is a receiver pack not designed to power the model, just looked and all the LiFe packs i can find on hobbyking are for either receiver or transmitters (RX and TX) they wont put out the power required to run a model, the wires are way to thin for a start. unfortunately it seems you have suffered what most people have on here regarding lipo's. googled horror stories and only found horror stories and videos. you will find most of those videos they are purposely over charging the lipo so it goes up in flames! i only know of one case of a lipo going up, a lad on here had it, but i also know of nimh blowing a cell as well! charging either is a risk just like charging any type of battery. there is no more risk charging your lipo inside as say charging your phone. as long as you set the charger up correctly, which is easy, you will be ok. you have to keep an eye on it tho don't just put it on and walk off. you should do that with nimh as well to be honest. the reason i said keep/charge in a bag and box is in the rare event it does let go it will keep smoke damage to a minimum plus as you will by it you should see the first sign of failure and chuck it out the window or door. as i said don't dismiss lipo's just because you read some stories and watched a lipo burn as it was over charged! believe me and ask anyone on here lipo is far superior over nimh. better performance, faster charging all of which far out do the small risks involved.
  6. are you wanting to use the LiFe in the truck? if so you cant use that one in the truck, its designed for a receiver i.e for a nitro/petrol buggys etc if i am right LiFe is only a little bit more stable than a lipo battery. plus due to the lower voltage you will in essence be downgrading it terms of speed. don't be put off by all the horror stories you read on lipo's. they only go wrong if mistreated! as you are in a rented flat store them in a lipo bag within a metal ammo box or alike. you can also charge it within that as well as unlike nimh they don't get hot during charging.
  7. correct bud, looked after they are ok to keep and use. just follow the guidelines on charging and storing and you will not want to go back to nimh
  8. its lithium yes but i think most are ion not polymer unsure of the difference to be honest. but the phone has the built in requirements to look after the battery, but yes they could still go pop just as easy as a RC lipo. didn't the iphone when it first come out have some problems with phones catching fire?
  9. i commend you for doing just that mate. no harm in being as safe as you can.
  10. its never a bad thing to air on the caution lads. if you have one go in your house and make a mess of the room or worse the house don't come crying! i believe there is a lad on here who had that happen. yeah they maybe in the safest form when not being used and in storage charge state but it is a battery containing chemicals which can cause a fire. nothing is ever perfect and even a battery not being used can just go! don't take everything for granted.
  11. this looks epic!

    1. PurcyP

      PurcyP

ITS GORZILLAAAAA!!!! cant wait for this

    2. Thunderwolf

      Thunderwolf

      been waiting for this.

i actualy liked the last one (from 1998 i belive)

i like how this one seems to be more scary rather than a damn big mutant that doesn't know what is going on

  12. as the lads have said, you really don't want or need it really really quick as it will be undrivable. i have 1.8th scale electrics in my stampede and its only just drivable on 3s with a 16t pinion. if i use the larger pinions i couldn't use a 3s in it without flipping everywhere.
  13. it will vent from the holes not draw in more oxygen. having no holes is plain silly in my mind, all that pressure that will build up would be deadly so put holes into what ever box you use.
  14. every time i watch something fast and furious i want to build something from them haha i doff my cap to you sir, keep up the great work!
  15. right, not sounding harsh or anything but you REALLY REALLY have to stop spamming the forums with the same stuff mate. i'm glad you found the problem after help but update your FIRST thread with the answer not start new threads!
  16. watch the soloniods on those bud. had a couple of mates have them give up on them.
  17. finally got my RC4WD shackles and king kong hook for my winch on the SCX. off out to try them soon
  18. i think it may be a bit to much weight for an scx to tow to be honest bud. might end up breaking the drive train.
  19. sorry only just seen this reply! you can try and contact them but to be honest most companys policy on lipos are once you have charged them they wont replace them! have a look at hobbyking for some more bud. what battery is it at the mo?
  20. i agree doddy, i was thinking of getting one but at that price its a joke! no way am i spending that much on a 1/18th!
  21. haha no worries, then yeah they are fine mate
  22. no. .1 is to much. max should be .02
  23. that does not look good bud. personally what i would do is balance charge it at half the normal amps you charge at. the run it gently for a bit checking with a voltage meter. i like to store mine at 3.8 to 3.85v per cell
