EDIT: My bad, if a mod could move this thread to Technology that'd be great. I've been out of R/C for nearly a year now... the reason is this game and how I've been helping with its development: www.wurmonline.com It's brilliant, if you're into MMOs it's like Minecraft but a lot more immersive with a lot more to do. (Fun fact: Wurm was co-developed by Notch originally.) The playerbase has soared in population since last December when a load of new features came out. A nice review on the game: In-game I'm Docterchese and play on the Deliverance server FYI.

I joined the forums about 2 weeks before he passed away... he helped me choose my first R/C and with further searching, it looks like he was an incredibly committed and helpful member of MSUK, not just to me for the short interaction I had. RIP Carl, you are and will continue to be missed.

How many gallons of fuel have you had through the truggy? Generally parts break by themselves after a lot of use, but 4 pullstarts could be user error... generally you'll break the pullstart if you pull it out more than 12 inches. Also if you're the world's strongest man then I'm sorry to say that the engine isn't the world's most durable... As for clutch shoes, which shoes are you using? Engine type won't necessarily affect clutch life. If you're still using the stock ones then upgrade them, links on the front page.
