  1. Gearing advice needed, got a stock firestorm that's been bashed hard that I'm doing up and fitting a brushless system. So I have a standard 87t spur and am putting in a 4300kv motor that will be running on 7 cell nimh and 2 cell lipo only. What pinion would I need for this setup?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Found the goolrc 4300kv red can ones which look pretty good from china and only £14 got to be worth a shot?
  3. Those blue cans only come in 3100kv (too low) and 5200kv (prob a bit too high) need to find something in the middle that's sub £30 pref
  4. hmm maybe ill give one a go then. The esc I have acquired is a good one, a flux vapour so same as castle sv3.
  5. copper would be good for heat transfer and easy to bend into a tight coil around the motor. Microbore copper plumbing pipe would suit can be got as small as 4mm I think
  6. I was thinking about a cheap motor but then ive heard of crap one failing and frying the esc so could be false economy. The HPI motors branded with the prefix flux MMH are hobbywing and the one branded flux vector are castle. Cant find anything I like so may end up having to buy a vector 4800kv from MS at £67 with the postage but this is more than I want to spend really. Ive also noticed now on HPI's website that the firestorm flux now comes with the 4000kv motor and not the 4800 it used to? Maybe a 4000 is all I need? But then running on 8.4v nimh or 2s lipo only will suffer its speed a bit unless I gear it for a little more speed...
  7. I've recently managed to get a brand new kit of a Koyosho mini inferno st09
  8. Turnigy trackstar available for £32 new - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__101069__Turnigy_TrackStar_1_10th_Brushless_4250KV_sensorless_motor_UK_Warehouse_.html or HPI Flux vekor available for £50 new - http://www.hpiracing.co.uk/piw.php?partNo=106768
  9. Thanks but not quite what im looking for and may have found a hpi one to go with the vapour esc
  10. As title, looking for a brushless motor for my firestorm. 3800kv - 4800kv 540 size 36mm can sensorless motor
  11. Whats a good quality brushless motor for firestorm?

5900kv is very quick... Possibly not the best option for just general bashing.

Stock brushless version runs 4000Kv. The one I converted from nitro has a 3800Kv combo in it, and I run that on 3S for giggles.

      Just quoting the sales lol.

My only experience was the 5700kv version and in a hpi sprint 2 sport on road car so thought it was a high kv.

I had the vekta 4000kv too and I think that's the best 1/10 motor I've had so far. I think it's a castle 3800kv but with different rotor but can be swapped with the castle 3800 one.

  12. This is for a firestorm. I too was thinking lower kv and then gear up for the torque of the motor. Also worried about blowing an esc I think ive decided to stick lower kv as it seems most have the same viewpoint as myself here. So that said do I go 4000 or 4800 running on 2s?
  13. What would be more efficient in terms of battery usage - 5700kv geared for say 30mph or a 4000kv motor geared for same speed or is there no difference?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Could anyone point me in the direction of what pinion might be needed if I put a flux warp 5700kv motor in my firestorm? Would be running on 2S only and a standard flux vapour esc...
  15. coated it in some flux and worked a treat, I wondered if that would do it
  16. Now im pretty good at soldering but ive acquired some old nihm 7 cells that im trying to resolder a deans connector onto but the cable will not take any heat (gets red hot) but wont take the solder at all. Could it be an old dodgy bit of cable? Im thinking to just cut the battery open and sweat off the old cable a put a fresh bit on next?
  17. Bump, any offers at all? Otherwise have to switch to bid auction on eBay
  18. I have an older DX3S system and I'm looking for additional receivers and a lot are dsmr and mine is dsm2? Are they compatible? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. That D812 went silly cheap!? Is collection only which limits your market though. So far ive not had any interest in my advertised losi lst but its down for offers. I think at what people are willing to pay these days its not worth the hassle of selling but then you end up with a stack of rc you don't use
  20. I'm having some thoughts about selling my D8 as I don't use it much, but everytime I consider it I think its such a nice buggy and would cost a packet to build one like this again. Does anyone have any idea what it might be worth if I did sell it? Might help me decide one way or another (prob keep!) Its mint, the underside hasn't got a scratch on it! Tekin RX8/T8 2650kv and savox 0252 servo.
  21. Am I asking too much for my Losi Lst XXL?

Perhaps people buy their new rigs towards the end of winter so they're ready for the summer? Does RC even work like that? Who knows!

Don't really know James. Seems to have been basically a buyers market for about a year now I reckon. New prices are going up and up which could literally be killing the hobby off. Used kit is about a 6th of it's new price now. About 2 years ago it was around 50% of new if good condition.

Full set of proline big Joe's on Tech 5 rims barely used didn't even get a £35 bid!!

It's true daz, i'm trying to sell a 3month old ESC with an RRP of £200 - struggling to shift it for £60! :o
