  1. Okay, thanks for all the replies. Think it's a Thunder Tiger .18,had to put everything in the shed as we had guests!! If it's wrong settings then they're way out cos it creates a vacuum in the primer bulb, so no flow at all! Sounds like I better strip the whole carb down. Damn second hand engines lol. Again, thanks for all your help.
  2. CEN also do a 7.7cc (0.47??). There's one on fleabay going for about 120 plus shipping. He's listed all the bits to do BIN's but mail him. I wanted it but think it will twist my tornado into knots lol. With so much torque, you'll have plenty of options on gearing to improve the top speed.
  3. Correct. Squeeze the rubber bit a few times and fuel will be at the carb. I've seen an argument recently to suggest you could also have one between exhaust and tank. As the primer one's are one-way flow only, fit it the right way round and in theory the pressure in your tank will be kept up as it can't escape back into the exhaust. Only what I read, might be for specific cars that are suffering lean bog when cornering.
  4. Is it revving okay or will it not spin up properly? I had a similar sounding problem and it turned out to be a loose backplate, (under the pullstart so never noticed til I took it apart). Thats probably the last thing you need to check. Does it rev okay without any load when you lift it off the ground?
  5. As above but you need to measure 2 things, hex nut size and also distance between mounting holes. Might seem obvious now you know it won't fit but these are the two dimensions that sellers normally detail to check. I found out the hard way, got a pullstart that was about 1mm out on the holes and cracked the backplate when I tried to fit it, doh! Not sure about the exhaust though, if a pull start fitted then I can't see why a rotostart backplate won't fit if fitted the right way round.
  6. This might be obvious to someone out there so wondering if anyone can help. Bought a used .18 engine off fleabay, seems okay, clean and plenty of compression. Problem I got is no fuel going in. Priming it fails to get any fuel into the carb, stops about 2mm away. Took the pipe off tank and tried blowing - no hope, seems totally blocked. If you screw the low speed (??- the one on the fuel intake) needle all the way out there's no restriction. Soon as you screw it back in even 1 turn, back to no flow. Any ideas? Wrong needle, something blocked? As I say, with needle out there's no restriction but even just getting it started on the threads and goes back to blocked? Am confused!!
  7. I thought you had to reject the standard out of court offer of 3pts and fine before you can ask for the photo's? From what I read, you take the 3pts on the basis you may or may not have been speeding but don't want to argue. Once you ask for pics you are saying you want to fight it? I read up on it before to see if it was worth fighting one of mine. Unless you're pretty sure you weren't speeding, it's cheaper and can be less points to keep it out of court. I might be wrong, it's only what I read.
