  1. Thanks for the review. I also received one of these chargers last week. I haven't had anything at this level before (chargers were a lot more basic when I was last involved in the hobby!), so I can't provide such detailed comparisons. I agree with all of the points that Stretch has made and I am very pleased with the charger overall. A couple of observations: Noise - The fan is quite loud to the extent that it is annoying if you are trying to do something else in an otherwise silent room. It gets louder still when using both channels or when discharging as expected. I have got no other chargers to compare this to unfortunately. Operation - I'd have preferred an on/off switch, and a bit less beeping when navigating the menus, but otherwise I find it great to use. The only slight annoyance is that when the charge is complete the screen turns blue, but it continues to balance after this and the screen then turns green. That's a nice feature as it means you know when it is safe to disconnect if you aren't worried about balancing on that charge, BUT it then continually beeps every few seconds until balancing is complete. Storage charging - This seems to take a really long time compared to charging at the same rate. Is this standard on all chargers? App - It looks like this isn't available yet for iOS, so I can't comment on it. That was a bonus for me anyway, and I'm quite happy to use the charger without it.
  2. Thanks. Mine should be here by Tuesday now, so all good.
  3. Thanks. I bought a 6S 5000mAh from Amazon (third party seller that seems to be the same one as on eBay). It arrived within a few days. Just waiting on my charger now! I'm not so worried about the weight of the 6000, it is more the size as I don't think it fits comfortably under the Typhon shell for what I have heard.
  4. Where did you order from? I got mine on ebay from a seller who said I'd have it by Monday, but has given me a Royal Mail tracking number that still doesn't work. Some of their feedback says their items are dispatched from China rather than the UK as promised. I probably should have bought it from Banggood where it was a bit cheaper.
  5. Thanks. I have gone ahead and ordered the HOTA D6+ which looks to be a slightly updated version. It loses the facility to charge my phone wirelessly (I doubt I'd ever have used that), but does push the AC power up to 300W and have another couple of extras. My batteries will have EC5 connectors, so I'll have to buy some XT60 to EC5 adaptors because this charger doesn't use banana plugs like most of the rest I have seen.
  6. Thanks for the heads-up. That looks great, but I was hoping for something a bit smaller.
  7. I've been reading up on Lipo chargers, but have got a bit confused. I'm looking to charge 4S and 6S batteries and I'll only really do that on mains power. I'd like a reasonably compact unit that I don't have to use a separate power supply with. Charing two batteries at a time would be useful as well. This one looks like it fits the bill, but would anyone recommend anything better? https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-reaktor-d6-pro-duo-ac-dc-6s-balance-charger-discharger-w-smartphone-wireless-charging-dc325w-x-2-uk-plug.html
  8. General bashing for me as well, certainly not top speed all the time. So on that basis, those 4000 mAh ones will only give me 10-12 minutes. Not bad, but I was hoping for 20 minutes or so. I'd ideally like to buy them with the EC5 connectors on rather than use and adaptor or solder myself, so that limits options. The 4000 appealed because I could buy it directly from Amazon with next day delivery, but I guess it will pay to wait a week or so to get the 6000 from a third party seller.
  9. Thanks. I have been looking at the HRB Lipos as well. I can only seem to find them on Amazon and ebay over here though. The one I am looking at now is a 60C one, but only 4000 mAh. Would that still give a reasonable run time based on your experience? I only tend to do short sessions anyway, so if I could have two batteries that give 20 minutes each that would be plenty.
  10. Thanks. That’s great info. With your Lipos, do you use an adaptor to the EC5 connector on the Arrma ESC? I used to buy Lipos from Hobbyking, but they don’t have any with an EC5 connector.
  11. I logged back in after a few years with the idea of buying a Lunch Box to build and (eventually) give to my nephew. I'm still going to do that, but I've also decided that I need to buy myself an Arrma Typhon 6S (it might be a little longer before he gets that one!) A few questions, if anyone would be kind enough to help. 1. Having looked into it a bit, it looks as though the radio gear on the current model Typhon is poor. I only use dual-stick anyway, so I'll just buy a new receiver for my Futaba T4GRS. Will this just drop straight in? 2. Can I use the Typhon gear on the Lunch Box? I'm assuming that the glitches won't matter as much for low speed stuff? 3. Is there a particular LiPo battery recommended for the Typhon? Presumably the higher the capacity and C rating the better, but are there any space constraints? Thanks in advance for any help.
  12. They do...sometimes! It just seems totally inconsistent. I have had it all apart and rebuilt it and have come to the conclusion it must be the diffs, even though they seem fine. The problem is that I have to put all of the covers back on to test it, so I can't physically see what is going wrong. With the covers off and turning by hand everything works well. Can't give up now, so I am going to order a set of ball diffs from the standard DB01 to see if they fix the problem.
  13. Thanks for all of the replies. I have taken the motor and pinion out of the equation, and am now just moving the main cog right at the centre of the car. With the car lifted in the air, all four wheels move, when it is on the ground there is no movement at all. I guess it must be something to do with the diffs, but they are built exactly per the instructions and seem to work fine.
