  1. Hell yeah, of course it's worth it! Why wouldn't it be? like when people started to CS the cars, to feel more like the real drift, to countersteer to keep the car under control. RWD is basically the final chapter, the exact copy of real life. Also, it's fun to learn again
  2. The Yoko's are good, if you want to CS it it's easy, if you ever want to go RWD it's more difficult to mod. But overall they are very good! Not sure how easy the parts are to get in the UK, but over in Asia they are readily available and the Yoko's are popular within the drift scene (almost too popular ) Another one to look at is the Sparrowhawk DX, cheap and a great beginner kit with plenty of opportunity to CS!
  3. Over here in Singapore we are trying out the RWD drifting thing, so huge mods to cars, front end motor, rear wheel drive and big steering angles to produce the results. Here is Zhirong driving his first RWD drifter (quite a while ago, everyone is trying it now although still new) Enjoy! nutnut
  4. I drove one of these last night! there are a 3 sponsorship cars kicking around here, all setup Counter Steer (1.5, a little low) pic 1 pic 2 Sweet rides!
  5. I have eventually moves to Brushless (and LiFE) I have a 17.5T I will post some new pics shortly! It's about time I moved over, I was going through cheap motors at a rate of knots and nimh batteries were just annoying me. Need a new charger though for some reason my charger packed up last night! Richie
  6. It was an excellent weekend They have the Asia tour so they are doing Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Bangkok too I think, I may go to one of those too if I can convince the wife that I go away with the boys, the travel time and flights from here are cheaper than a trip to France or Amsterdam is there, and you can generally get a cheap hotel (in Bangkok and Jakarta anyway) ! But since I have to convince the wife...Probably not
  7. Sorry, I forgot to post the videos and pics of the Drifting! Some videos..... Some pictures.... Also, I managed to get tickets to the after show party through a friend out here, it was run by VIP magazine and they were doing a casting call for the new VIP bunnies!!! Some pics of the girls on the night It was held at the Formula 1 pit building in Singapore. Also, I met the girl off the front cover of the 1st magazine, she was as smoking hot as she looks in the pictures! My son walked in front of her when she was having her picture taken by the press and gave her a hug, how come I don't get away with that kind of thing???? lol  @Will - pics and vids as requested @Sphinx - A few pics of the chicks too! (there were loads mate!) @oligreen - It was a public event, I just bought tickets - I live in Singapore, so it was only $55 a ticket for the two days (27.50 GBP) I am in IT if that helps! FYI, the kid is my 5 year old son, he loved it, he doesn't look that impressed in most of the pictures though lol. He didn't go to the VIP magazine party afterwards of course..
  8. Don't mean to boast or anything, but I'm off to Formula Drift tomorrow and Sunday in Singapore. I also have corporate hospitality tickets for the after party with free booze and food and aparantly a casting call for the new magazine out here called VIP (owned by Playboy) Sounds like a right good laugh! I'm taking my 5 year old son (not to the party) I hope he loves it! Thats all
  9. I've not seen anything off the shelf for smoke or noise generation, however, one of the guys at SGDrifters (Zhirong) has home made a mini smoke generator and a noise maker that work on the throttle, you should check out the videos here. He is going to finalise the smoke gen and start selling them to the guys out here, so maybe if he does then I can get you one and send it over? Anyway, here's the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrS8-fn71ZUhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unhcDOh3fQg He said he wants to do the nitro purge when he has completed the smoke gen, wheel smoke is his first priority. I have no other information than that, and I am not handy enough to get this rolling myself!
  10. YOu can drift without locking the diffs, it does help to lock the back but it's not necessary! if you want to tighten it slightly, you can bring the gears closer by adding some washers behind the gears, this will tighten it. I used 1mm shims on mine and it gave me a little more control without locking the diff!
  11. Shell came from a little place out in Singapore called S'wan Model Trading(run by a lady called Winnie) I'm afraid it's not a custom paint job, I have no time to do custom shells out here. But I did like it when I saw it so grabbed it. The photography is done by a guy who comes along to meets regularly, have a look at the pics on the SGDrifters Facebook page, his name is Kelvin Tham, he's posted a fair few pics of the cars that run at the meets I go to. I never found anyone to drift with in UK Savaejamie, I started it more often when I came out to Singapore, they have about 4-5 meets a week in various locations around the island and they are pretty easy to get to! So I am spoilt for choice now! We also get folk coming down who drift full scale cars with their 1:10 scale RC - here's one of them, he has an exact replica of the Drift Ninja full scale car for a shell. It looks cool, its on the Facebook page if you want to have a look. My Chassis is a Sprint 2, although, there are a few the guys out here are using, TA05, Thundertiger Sparrowhawk, TT01 and of course Yokomo Drift Package and MR4TC. I'm the only one I know out here running a Sprint 2! Also, I'm about the only one not running Counter Steer as the mod for the sprint is a lot of work, the sparrowhawk can be easily converted to CS and so can the Yokomo.
  12. I have been drifting with the guys at SGDrifters for a few months now since arriving in Singapore. This is my current car for your amusement. Pics by SGDrifters photographer Kelvin Tham. Cheers Richie
  13. Hi All, As you may remember some time ago, I moved out to Singapore, I have started meeting up with the guys at SG Drifters on a weekly basis, they are a great group of guys drifting 4 or 5 nights a week in and around Singapore. I've been getting tips and mods from them and picking up some skills. It seems that they mainly run cheap silver cans or low turn (27/28T) brushed motors with various different setups. It's been a good giggle and I recommend if you come over here to pop along to oneof their meets as they are very welcoming, even to us foreigners! Seems CS setup and steering mods are the order of the day and one of the guys has built a mini smoke machine for tyre smoke that links to throttle speed which is pretty awesome! Candid video from one of the meets, this is Billy and Zhirong from SGdrifters driving.
  14. Cheers guys! not got my cars yet Will get pics up when I get out on the tracks!

  16. So these are my two local tracks Both within about 10 miles of my pad! nice huh? Just picked up a new power supply from a very friendly lhs with plenty of spares for the HPI Sprint so as soon as the boat arrives I am happy as larry I think! Oh and they have a pretty big drift scene here with meets a few times a week! And as I mentioned to the guys in Chat earlier.... McDonalds delivers 24/7
  17. So, I arrived in Singapore back in September, picked up a new tx for my micro that I slung in my suitcase and have been having a rare old time.... I miss my RC's though, there are drift meets, and all manner of RC tracks over here and I can't use them (unless I buy a new one) so will just have to wait until the ship arrives in a few weeks! Thought I'd check in, this last couple of months have been manic, but we are beginning to feel the benefit of the weather food etc now! Will catch you all soon! Richie
