  1. I may be able to come out this weekend if it's local to basingstoke, I have a **** ton of nitro to burn off before we leave the UK.. Sunday works best as the wife and I are out partying tonight and don't plan to be in until sometime tomorrow.. So where's all the old NHB crew? I can't believe how quiet NHB has gotten!
  2. I'm afraid that's me out then.. sorry lads, I'll try to get out soon tho!
  3. Excellent question.. in particular, what time?
  4. Hey guys, I might join y'all tomorrow, for a bit anyhow.. I assume 'the jam site' is the oval track we held the msuk jam at last year? oh, and Jerre, the missus passed on your message. If I don't get out tomorrow well have to catch up for a cuppa
  5. Hell yeah! I thought it was about time I put in a special appearance The Trophy was indeed on song and of course, the Firestorm was as nutty as always See below! lol!
  6. If you can get them out of him.. I have one for my trophy, the last he had in stock, 3 for my muggy but he refunded me the money for the remaining 2 for the trophy.. This was a couple of months ago.. He's got a rep as a nice bloke but unless you have a Baja your order doesn't rate.. and his communication sucks! but.. his gear is good.. Doesn't mean you shouldn't try.. in fact, perhaps if we could arrange a bulk order from the members of the thread we could get a discount and make it important enough for him to bother with? Henzy? as our fearless leader, perhaps you'd like to look in to it?.. just a suggestion mind you..
  7. Not to be too picky but it's the dif mount that has been replaced, the housing is the black roundish bit in the middle that rotates The only reason to change the mounts out is damage to the original (cross threaded screws is the most likley), because it's lighter as Oli suggested (though relative weight isn't all that great a diference tbh) or, and this is most likely in my book, because it's shiny and a hop-up.. and god knows that hop-ups are, by definition, better than standard parts... no.. I'm not a cynic at all! Having said that, if you are super lucky, it's possible to get upgraded dif cases.. alloy ones.. the stock ones are made of plastic and if you put too much torque through them the spider gear shafts can eat the insides...
  8. Where were you hiding mate? I was only there for the Sat (although was due to be there both days but other commitments had to come first ) and was set up in the main tent with the NHB guys.. Looking back, I really didn't do enough socialising.. I was too busy trying to get my ST1 sorted and the Muggy tuned correctly.. right pta that thing.. awsome, super special race port motor in it but cranky as a 2 day dry alcoholic! I'm taking it out in favor of a nice sensible O.S .30
  9. Mav, your PM box is full I think.. just tried to PM you... If you want to get out to bash mate, I have one you can borrow (a power HD 1501mg) or I think I might have a spare servo from a roller you can have gratis.. of course, it might be a HPI SF1 (so aside from costing... how much John?
  10. You're game mate! some of those marder's are monsters! if you had a bit of a dust up with one I know which car would come out in better shape! I meant to introduce myself to some of the southampton guys but never got around to it.. we're not so far away and it's always nice to meet new folks I'll have to come up for a bash when I'm done with this blasted study of mine.. (if any of you guys are young enough to still be in school.. do it right the first time.. it sucks doing it later in life!! )
  11. Well mate, your Trophy certainly out lasted mine then! I think I took it for a swim in a massive puddle when I was doing high speed pirouettes on the other side of the track then brought it over and threw it off that ramp at close to full chat and smashed it (as you saw ) A total brain fart that one.. I watched it roll back in mid air and thought... there's something I should be doing right now... *smash* oh yeah... level the car ou...t... oops! You always break the part you didn't bring a spare part for! d'oh!!
  12. it really did look like they just hit melting temprature and vaporised splattered clutch everywhere! Oli, how'd that spare clutch I gave you do? did it see you through the rest of the weekend? good to meet you in person as well btw
  13. irc they were HN reds (Oli will need to confirm).. when he said that there was a chorus of "ha! there's your problem" and "well, there you go.." from various punters in the communal tent.. so it sounds to me like he's not the first to have had issues with them.. If recall correctly that included one chap who's all Hong Nor.. just say'n.. I reckon he was using it hard, bigger clutch bell and some meaty ass tyres but nothing too over the top that would constitute using the truggy 'wrong' imo.. If anything, I would be more inclined to think someone had sold him some knock-off's rather than the real deal.. or hong nor reds really are that bad.. the inside of his clutch bell looked like it was covered in solder.. and having said that, once it started to slip, it'd only get worse.. bad luck I say.. I didn't get to catch up with him before I left.. having just smashed my Trophy too (and my ST1 and my Muggy.. Firestorm was still running tho! despite having been for a swim twice!) to see how it turned out.. Anyhow, was it only Oli and I from the Trophy owners thread there?
  14. Thanks mate I reckon' it was much better to see that you got up and running at the Jam.. I have to say though, well impressive disintergration of that clutch.. Was anyone else there btw?
  15. So another who doesn't sleep? Cheers for that mate, I have to register to look but I will always be happy with more sources of info! Well, if I get stuck with anything I might drop you a line.. as I said, I don't have any real time to get in and have a propper go with it at the moment.. One question tho, was yours as bad with the steering? this one is as sloppy as.. well.. nothing nice anyway It is mentally fast though, it's got some ported engine in it that has massive top end.. but noooo bottom end.. I'm thinking for such a big truck I should swap it out.. we'll see I guess!
