  1. I spoke to apple customer support who were really helpful and they said that it can happen sometimes. They think that its happened because I have been continually using it from out of the box without turning it off and just putting it into sleep mode. Anyway, they gave me a reference number so that if it happens again then I can just take it to an apple shop and get it sorted. Everything is working the way it should be now
  2. yea the software is the latest out of the box. I'm going to give john lewis and apple a call tomorrow and ask if its a common fault. Cheers for the advice anyway guys, really appreciate it.
  3. I didn't have to recover, it just went to the home screen straight away and continued as if nothing had happened. Do you think its normal though for that to happen? Should I still question it?
  4. Omg cheers mate! its working! I must not of been pressing the buttons long enough for it to work. Thanks again and a happy new year to everyone.
  5. I've done it countless amount of times mate, its not having it.
  6. so is it not worth going to john lewis then?
  7. i got an iPad 2 for christmas and I have been using it everyday since then and I really like it, its handy to have around the house. But today, I was playing a game on it, I put it down for about a minute to check something and when I come back it was turned off. I tried to turn it on and it goes on to the loading screen with the apple logo, freezes and goes to a black screen, and then comes back on with the apple loading screen. This goes on continuously and the only way to stop it is by holding down both buttons (power button and home button) to make it turn off. I can't plug it into the computer or anything to restore it because the computer won't recognise it because its still in the loading screen. It had some charge left in it (15%) but nothing that would make it turn off so suddenly. Just wanted to know if any of you have experienced this type of thing before and any advice on how to fix it. It was bought from John Lewis with a 2 year warrenty so i'm just wondering if they would redeem the siutuation there and then or just give me a new iPad?
  8. lol thats funny Merry Christmas mate!
  9. Good Passed my driving test first time. Finished my aerospace course after 2 years of hard work. Had a great summer. Travelled to Luton for the first time for an interview and hopefully will do it again. Bad Can't find a dam job (nearly got one with sainsburys but missed out on the test by 1 mark) Couldn't get an apprenticeship in aircraft maintenance (hopefully next year) I've got more hope of finding
  10. At the moment, i'm just trying to get as much work experience with some airlines as possible. Thomas Cook have offered me some but not sure when and the Engineering Manager at Thomson is getting back to me about some also. Thomson did say though that they are keeping me on their records and that they want to interview me again in the next selection process so in a way I am gutted but happy that they won't forget me.
  11. Just recieved an email this morning...... i didnt get it.... They said the standard was really high and that there were only 2 positions out of 22 who were interviewed. Just trying to sort out some work experience with them now but other than that i'm gutted. They said that they were pleased with how the interview went though and they are keeping me on their records for next year and I will get an email for another invite for the placements next year. So a little bit of good news aswell
  12. I've not heard anything off them yet and its getting me woried I phoned the manager last week to see whats going on and he said that they were just compiling paper work and should have a decision in the next few days but i've not heard anything for over 3 weeks. I checked online for answers and usually if your sucessful then the employer will contact you as soon as possible to tell you've got the job and then sort paper work out later. So is this long period of waiting a good thing or a bad thing?
  13. lmao what job is it for mate? Where it says, "What makes you angry?", I would of put, "This application". Those are some silly questions though lol
  14. I did the interview and I think it went pretty well. I explained nearly everything about the company and exactly how many aircraft they have in their fleet. I even answered a question which they didn't expect me to answer which was, "we have a number of partner companies for Thomson, can you name any of them?, don't worry if you can't because alot of people dont know this", and it was Corsairfly becoz i remeber seeing a video of a 747 in a Thomson livery so I was alright with that. I took my practical work along which I did in college and they were impressed with that. The only thing I think I screwed up on was when they asked about why they have winglets on their aircraft. I know the advantages and disadvantages of having them or not having them but becoz I was so nervous I couldn't explain how it stops wing vortices or how they are created, I just ended up saying, "it can act the same way as a wing fence which is fitted to swept wing aircraft like fighter jets" :/ Overall, I think I did good, just keeping my fingers crossed becoz I really want this. One of the guys even came down and complemented me on how well I did, just hope that its all paid off.
  15. Cheers mate, that link has some really good points in there
  16. I've got an interview with Thomson Airways on Thursday for an Apprenticeship in Aircraft Engineering at Manchester Airport. This is going to be my first ever interview so does anyone have any advice and what to do and what not to do. I've already researched into the company so I think im alright with that. Any advice at all would be much appreciated.
  17. lol you guys have got it good! Got quoted 24k to get get put on a peugeot 306 lol Then I wanted to get put on my parents insurance for a new ford fiesta and one of the insurance companies said that I have to keep my license for a year before they would let me drive it.... how do you get the experience if your not driving?? Most of them won't quote me because of my age or because the price will be through the roof.
  18. Same here mate, will keep my eyes open You just can't keep anything on show these days, it always has to be padlocked down. Hope you find it
  19. I saw something pretty weird while looking up at the clear sky the other night. Just after watching the ISS pass over which was amazing. I saw this other spot of light, which looked like the ISS but a bit dimmer, pass over in a different direction. I watched it with a few other witnesses and as it got to a certain point, it then began to shine really bright (5 times brighter than the ISS) and then began to dim again and it then just dissapeared slowly as if it went into earth's shadow. It wasn't a plane because I would know if it was, this was just a single spot of light which looked like a star. We have seen these pass over quite a few times but they have never shined as bright as this one did. You see some amazing things on a clear night.
  20. Cheers for the advice guys. I'm going to my college on the weekend anyway to pick up my national diploma certificate but while i'm there i'll have a quick chat with a few of the people who work there and see what they think.
  21. Omg I feel like im going to be sick right now I actually have no idea what to do. Is it really worth going back to college for a 4th year learning about aircraft maintenance? And am I really gonna gain anything from it? I have never been this stuck on what to do!
  22. Yes but I thought that the apprenticeship would get you qualified for aircraft maintenance and thats why they would not take people who have degrees?
  23. Hey guys, At the moment, I am in a situation where I am left stranded with nothing to do this year except to try and get a part time job which is proving difficult. I want to get an apprenticeship in aircraft maintenance but just fell short with Monarch this year and before I can apply for any more I will have to wait until next year. I was told by someone (I think it was my training manager, im not sure) that if I was to go onto further education, ie, a Foundation Degree or a training course for an A licence (aircraft maintenance), then I would not be able to obtain an apprenticeship as I will be over qualified. The problem I have is that I am really determined to get the apprenticeship I want as it will open so many doors in later life. The thing that is really bugging me though is that I dont want to sit here feeling as if I could of gone onto further education instead of sitting back and waiting for time to take its course. Do any of you know about if a degree makes you over qualified for an apprenticeship?
  24. This thread should be changed to "Riots in UK", who would of known that it would of spread around the country this much?
  25. Riots have spread to Manchester..... i live near the city centre Absolute planks, they just had to get on the bandwagon intead of just sitting back and leaving things alone.
