  1. Ok, so the thing I have worried about happening, has happened. Losi no start I fitted the new gaskets and manifold bolts which have sealed the exhaust port. She started up fine! Great, however is now running very smokey I guess due to needing a retune now the exhaust is sealed. Had to wait for the rain to stop, but then took it ok, was running ok but smokey, started to lean out the high end and play around either way to look and listen what difference was made when I turned one a bit too much and it died, moved back, tried to start a couple of times but died after a second. Moved needled around, no luck. Thought right, time for stock settings (high 1.5 out, low 1.25-1.45 out) no luck and the engine locked up to the point I couldn't pull It over. Pulled the spark and still couldn't. Had to take the engine out, take flywheel case off and turn over by hand which then freed up and pulled ok. Everything back in and still no luck. Thought maybe flooded, took the spark plug out and sure neigh flooded, turned it upside down and gave 10 good pulls. Cleaned spark plug, all back in and together tried again no luck. Been messing around with this for a couple hours, been checking the spark on it throughout and all looks ok. Even tried loosening the exhaust so it was like how it was before and still nothing. Ideas??? I know I've done something but stuck on how to fix it, just ordering a new plug to try
  2. I'm interested, but the losi lst also has my interest, looking forward to reviews of both to really see which is best!
  3. Now why couldn't I find that?! Haha thanks
  4. So, does anyone have the octane coming? Please post up your first thoughts here! I'm excited to see what people think!
  5. Motor out had to take the flywheel shroud off to get the killswitch back in easily Nice and snugly in the battery box, ran a locking servo extension from the receiver tray back to the battery box The battery, aux and killswitch wires JUST fit through the stock slot! It's almost water tight!
  6. Cool, how is it with 35? Do you jump it much?? Tonight's work, the killer rc super bee is installed! Took some time but was actually quite easy. I had the engine out and gave it a clean, found something a little concerning which is what looks to be chemimetal or job weld or some kind of sealant all over the crank case but can't find any obvious repairs to it. Photos to come! Also, I've got a horrible feeling I've stripped one of the threads on the exhaust port. If I have, should I replace the head, or drill it it, tap it then put one of those inserts in that give a new thread??
  7. hmm thanks, I did see that but was thinking I have a bunch of 2s 2200, I could put 2 in parallel in there and get more capacity than a killer RC lipo. Decisions.....
  8. I'm not great at judging speed, but for me it's quick enough at the moment! I can;t compare to a Baja as i've never run with one And yeh I like the shell too. when i brought it I was fully intending to replace it with a new one, however it has grown on me and the convenience of 4 body clips and the cage/shell is off rather than have to get the screwdriver out
  9. Ok so killswitch turned up yesterday but didn't get a chance to install it, so that's tonight's job! I'm also dubious of the wt oil in the shocks, other 5ive owners, what do you run? I was going to go with 40wt all round

  11. I'm sure this has been asked before, but looking for a 2s lipo from hobbyking that will fill the bay the best of a losi 5ive? Or even 2 in parallel? Discuss
  12. Enjoyable read, my super bee arrived on my desk today. I will also add I had an issue with mine when I got it (was second hand) with the throttle that when i started it, it would be on full throttle. Now coming from a family that owns a car dealership and growing up in the workshop, iI understand engines so took the filter off, check all the butterflys were right and everything was opening and closing as it should. After much head scratching and changing, I found when the car started, the servo twitched and went to full throttle, i just never noticed cos I panic and instantly kill it then the servo would go back to normal. Again after much head scratching, found the when the servo was vibrated or knocked it would twitch and most twitch to throttle open and not brake! I opened the servo up and no loose wires and everything OK, can only guess it was a faulty POT, swapped the servo and all OK now!
  13. Aaannddd finally the video uploads! You see me check the exhaust and see it's wobbly, then at the top the tone of the exhaust suddenly changes then bring it back and when I turn it off you can see the manifold hanging off!
  14. Looking good, I've only had my losi 5ive a few days and considering doing the same as you with a Baja!
  15. Yeh that's exactly what it has, I've tightened it and it seems better. I'm not with the car at the moment so can't measure this but about to make an order from mmr, what size turnbuckle wrench would I need?
  16. Ok, due to the event I was going to tomorrow being cancelled, I decided to take her out for a bash at the local bmx track. The verdict?? I LOVE THIS THING! She jumps like a beast Video to come. Only downside was the exhaust came loose and lost a bolt, but I've got home and found a replacement which looks to work ok. Anybody know how to stiffen up the rear exhaust mount, it seems a bit too flexible. Found the gaskets definitely need replacing tho!
  17. Ok, servo came today from FTI, after a couple small tweaks, she runs!! But only for a couple minutes as the mother had enough of the noise (I'm 20 and still live at home with the rents). So took her up the park (well that's the girlfriend, I also brought the losi ) Run her around for 5 minutes, mthen the girlfriend started getting bored, then she got in the car, then throttle arm on the carb came loose, it's almost as if she loosened it off....
  18. Also, a couple beauty shots from yesterday: These are probably going to be the last photos of the grass looking like that also...
  19. Cheers guys all good considerations. I just wanna known what i'm looking at when the time comes and how much I need to budget! Maesterio, do you know if it still has the titanium arm pins?
  20. Thanks bud! If i was to replace the motor, for the money a stock engine would cost, is there anything else I should consider?? It won't be for a while tho!
  21. Exactly bud, which is why I also got it sent to my home address rather than work All should be OK, I just get impatient when I have new toys! haha, I guess we all do
  22. Haha, cheers bud! I can see they're not completely mashed, but knowing me I will finish them off so just wanna be sure I have some spare! Hopefully the servo is here today! Cheers for all the info guys!
  23. Haha, fair enough. We'll see how it goes! Servo should be here tomorrow then it's all gol I've contacted pipe and can hopefully enlighten me so I can trace it back! Even if not it's just interesting to know it's history, I'm sad like that!
