  1. Losi have just released a bunch of how to videos, BEFORE, yes before! the release of the car
  2. Good running report from hemifella! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yWQytW84F14
  3. Nope, just a this 'first look'. I expect them to do a video soon however.
  4. By no running video yet I mean from RC Driver. I never look at manufacturer made videos for a realistic representation of how an item works/runs/performs! Also, I did see somewhere a while ago, Gary Katzer upload a video of this running in the snow I think
  5. First look out by RC Driver http://rcdriver.com/losi-lst-xxl-2-gas-monster-truck/
  6. No running video yet but an interesting read on the Octane's competitor http://rcdriver.com/losi-lst-xxl-2-gas-monster-truck/
  7. I don't want to 'disband' Southampton Bashers in anyway, but as nobody really seems to be active anymore, if anyone is interested a few friends and I have started Hampshire Offroad RC Bashers. We only have a Facebook page so far but we're only small. https://www.facebook.com/groups/489172857876870/ If somebody from SB doesn't like this then i'll edit, just wanna give people an option
  8. All sounds good, looks like they are getting added to the list for next months purchases!
  9. Yeh, if I was to do that I would replace just the side sections I think
  10. How are the darksoul fuel connectors? I like to take the engine out to clean mine as it makes it so much easier, I have the throttle quick disconnect coming but didn't think about fuel lines!
  11. Great idea, will take a look at one! I'm now considering either a wheel well panel set to stop debris getting in, or getting the entire penta body for the next 'big buy'. Suggestions on this? Also lubricators and consumables. Which grease for where? Do you black grease the joints and whats the best back for the buck lubrication to use?
  12. Haha, yeh I know. It is something on my list but haven't really started looking apart from seeing djmedic2008 review that
  13. Luckily not completely cream, it's browny cream that doesn't show marks it something is spilt. I managed to get a bit of oil on it which you can't see now
  14. I just want to follow up on this, they've amended it again and again. Seems they don't even know what it should be. The release HAS been a flop. Again I just say the product or design doesn't look like it is as some are having success, but the release is for sure!
  15. I don't use the telemetry on mine. I use a dx3c so no telem. I brought it second hand without it anyway
  16. Out of interest, I haven't been checking the temps on my new motor, I have an IR temp gun, what is a safe range?
  17. I have to strongly disagree here with the documentation front. They've had to make amendments to the manual which was wrong and also release videos showing how to do the gearbox and engine tuning as the manual doesn't cover it nearly as well as it should (Yes, I've read the manual but don't own one). Do I think HPI are a bad company that release bad products? No. I think that HPI are an excellent company with industry leading customer support. But there IS problems here, maybe not with the design/manufacturing of the product (this I'm still on the bench on in some cases of what I've seen across the internet and first hand) but certainly with the documentation at first release. Again do I think HPI have messed up with this? Somewhat, but this is a new ground breaking product so as you say teething issues are expected to a point, but maybe not as widespread as we are seeing. Again most likely down to customer knowledge end documentation. Just my 2 pence
  18. Dude lighten up, it's not attacking anyone. I'm slightly gutted by all this too as I was looking for one but not talking about it isn't going to make it all ok, infact it's most likely to do the opposite as hpi wouldn't get an honest idea of what's going on. I just hope everyone either works out the crack with them and there's just a trick/knack to it, or hpi sort it so I can get one!
  19. Ok, another update, I'm typing this in the plane on the way to holiday Did a tear down of most things on the chassis and the rear end, replacing all the stripped screws as I go. There were a couple persistent ones but used the trick of a torx bit to get them out, apart from one I had to drill and hammer a slightly larger torx into. Is it obvious the parents are away by my new location of workshop?! I also tried the dishwasher trick, to be honest it didn't work too well, manual cleaning needed I had it tearing up the back garden yesterday nicely until i stopped to take a call, whilst sat there idling, it just died. Just thought I'd walk over and give her a pull and away I'd be going again. I was gutted when I pulled it felt like the engine was seized. I couldn't believe my lucky, went to pull again and noticed the truck was trying to move forward! Then it dropped, something is locking in in the clutch. Took the clutch out and sure enough a screw had come loose! Few! I kind of wish every plane had wifi, as it's not fast enough for streaming videos I've just done a spot of shopping! Fingers crossed should be waiting for me at home when I'm back.
  20. A friend of mine had his rear brake break on the first 'run' too
  21. Whilst I partly agree with you, the octane is about bring the ease (Ironic, yes i know) of tuning of a petrol and other benefits or petrol, to a smaller more manageable size RC.
  22. This isn't a owners thread bud, it's a new product announcement thread. Everyone is sharing their idea's on what they believe to be the issue. And to everyone saying oh you're just all looking at the negatives: It's clear this is a flop. HPI have asked for it to not be sold for the moment; Either because of them not giving full documentation on how to correctly setup and tune this, or because they literally have a design/manufacturing flaw and just simply don't work. Yes I hope it's the case there are many owners who are having too much fun enjoying themselves to post, but I personally know and have seen 2 friends with theirs have nothing but issues. If it did run OK, i'm sure there would have been far more people chiming in saying theirs is OK. This is a forum for open discussion and opinion, if you don't like that then don't read the thread and start your own 'Only good experiences of the Savage Octane' thread. But i'm sure things will be pretty quiet there....
  23. That's the issue, I don't think there are any happy owners!
  24. Yeh, I do like the process of building and stripping. The parents have just gone away on holiday (I'm 20 and still living the easy life with them) so I plan to bring it in the house on a sheet and tear it down then chuck all the plastics in a dishwasher! Photos to come
