  1. I've had issues with them as well. The teath on one of the gears broke almost within seconds of use in my Savage, on throttle duty.. For £30 you could get a second hand Ace DS1015 or similar, that would be the way I'd go.
  2. Lightweight spur and bevel gear will lower the rotating mass, but in relation to everything else that the motor has to start/stop spinning (drivetrain and wheels), it'll make next to no difference. I'm not sure that this would make much difference either... I like the idea of bigger shocks though!!
  3. Seems like most of the bits there are lightweight options, which wouldn't be any benefit to a basher, might even make it weaker.. I like the idea of the shock tower (maybe a front one to match as well?), shocks, stub axles, servo arm and mudguards, possibly turnbuckles (through experience I don't think the Lunsford hinge pins make any difference, apart from a small amount of weight) otherwise I think that you might find the stuff a bit of a waste of money.
  4. What about the RB One..? That's a pretty capable RTR buggy and not badly priced either at £435 on the street, inc starter box etc.
  5. Hi folks, Just trimming down on some Savage bits that I no longer need. 1st up is a set of Fast Lane Machine Savage Flux HD Extended TVP's (FLM45400). These are XL length and 5mm thick, beautifully machined from 6061 alloy, certainly the lightest Flux XL TVP's and look stunning. Included is the matching XL Skid Plate (FLM45410), TVP Half Braces (FLM47300) to attach the skid to the TVP's and 4 countersunk-head screws for the Half Braces. They are in very good condition, been put on/taken off my truck a number of times when I was building it, but only run for a matter of seconds. They do have an extra hole which I made to mount the Alza Servo Plate, but it will not effect performance and cannot be seen when the battery boxes are on. Please note that the rear dogbone which came with the TVPs will not be included, and only the 4 screws to attach the half braces will be. Pic- SOLD Next up, set of 4 Savage XL SHD extended axles. Brand new. Pic- Price- £25 posted. BARGAIN!! Payment via Paypal (buyer pays fees) or bank transfer please. All questions welcome. No haggling thanks, prices are firm. Cheers, Lawrence.
  6. I got some the other week with some tires too, did think it was very random, quite enjoyed them though!
  7. They did a whole range of option parts for the GT14, including a brushless motor, lots of carbon fibre bits and threaded shocks etc. Should imagine they'd be compatible with this.
  8. That's a shame, I was getting quite excited about having an in depth discussion with you on topics like material properties and their application in RC car design...
  9. Looks a touch on the large size!! For the weight of it, it seems to have a pretty low amount of power too... 1750g/7000w vs Leopard 5692 880g/5500w. Helluva lot of motor for the money though.
  10. I think rather than go round in circles and get further away from the point of the thread, we should stop there. If you'd like a chat about anything else then lets do it by PM.
  11. I think the point is that there's been other threads about this truck already, go have a search
  12. The HPI branded Castle one or the HW one..? If it's the HPI one I'd guestimate ~2500
  13. The Savage Flux 2350 motor is just under 40mm in diameter (39.98 I think), that HW one is 36... It ain't the same motor.
  14. My point was that there are lots of option parts available for the HN, about 100 infact, which seemed to be what you were disputing when you said that you couldn't find many hop-ups for the HN... Whether they are something you want on your own car is subjective, and obviously depends on what you use your car for. For bashing the parts you mention are maybe all you need, for a racer it would be very different.
  15. No worries bud You definitely won't regret spending the extra cash on the conversion kit, it's the best upgrade out there for the savvy by miles IMO. I've had 2 from the U.S that've reached me without being nabbed by customs, but you never know when they'll strike, and it's alway nice to get the bits in a couple of days rather than weeks! Hope you enjoy the new shiney bits, Lawrence.
  16. You're right, the HN's don't really need upgrading from the outset, but the car can be improved and there's plenty out there to do it, if you choose to. There's quite a few bits here- http://www.jespares.com/nitro-models?page=shop.browse&category_id=991 and a massive list here- http://www.s-m-d.co.uk/x1cr-rtr-option-parts-c26.html These are the bits from the Pro version that the RTR doesn't have, which, at a guess, will improve handling, weight, strength and durability.- ●X1S-01 CNC Machined 7075 Chassis (Hard-Coated)●X1-07H Servo Saver Connecting Plate (Hard-Coated)●X1-08H CNC Machined 7075 Front Lower Arm Holder (Hard-Coated)●X1-09H CNC Machined 7075 Rear Lower Arm Holder (Hard-Coated)●X1-10H Servo Saver Alum. 17. I really like it apart from the tacky window stickers, think it'd look great without them. It's definitely a GT14 based chassis, looks identical apart from slightly shorter, which is no bad thing as they're very good little cars.
  18. You should've come down to the Savage Flux owners club thread! As for Revo's owning Savvy's.... I'm not even going to rise to it! Integy option, which is quite good, 99% of the time only available via import from the States. Rear- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Integy-HD-Rear-Hub-Carrier-Silver-SAVXL-INTT6979S-/160651603212?_trksid=p4340.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DDLSL%252BSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BIEW%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D8%26pmod%3D160618961751%252B160618961751%26po%3D%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D3388138718688080584 Fronts- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Integy-HD-Steering-Block-HPI-Savage-X-2-INTT7032SILVER-/160652676989?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2567a54f7d The HPI option is much better,- the full Suspension Conversion Kit. It's over £100 inc shipping, but improves the handling and strength no end. For the price I reckon it's much better value than the Integy bits. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HPI-87245-Suspension-Conversion-Set-SAVAGE-25-X-4-6-XL-/220851705099?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item336bc9950b
  19. The black high-tensile steel screws are without a doubt the hardest wearing IMO. I fear these would be one for the mice...
  20. I'd go with "Oh How Original" on this one, check out the Hong Nor X1X-CR. Great car all round (fantastic engine for the money, top quality shocks, strong build, cheap spares and lots of hop-ups about if you want to go down that route) within budget and IMO much better than anything else at the price. Modelsport have got them reduced at £250 http://www.modelspor...-products/33429
  21. I really like them, would stop me from getting told off for using the dining table at home for servicing my RC's, even if they never see a race meet! Love the choice of biscuits too, that really makes it for me, not sure they'd cope with the girth of a chocolate digestive though...
  22. Do you mean joint bars, or the little ones that just come out far enough to support the servo? Do you still need any shock spacers too btw? Found a load today
  23. Great to see HN bringing out a new race buggy and they're supposed to be fantastic on the track, shame the cab forward shell makes it look like an invalid carriage though..
