Starting at GBP100 , from what I can see
-
From what I have seen , backing works only in some cases.... unless you painting pearl or glitter black , then I think its pointless to back black .... for lighter colours , yes , silver gives it some (just a bit more) life , but not in all conditions , depends on paint , how thick etc In all cases it adds grams and dollars
-
Yeah , but the control room is closed outside of races....so no access to their PC etc - this is more for practise
-
Actually the video idea is not a bad one at all - it wouldnt give me data on the track , but it would give good enough lap info later , with the added bonus of being able to analyse the lap times vs driving lines.... I think if I positioned it on the driver's stand , it would get most of the circult @badger - I am thinking doing say 5 min with a setup , then change setup , do another 5 min and compare , and continue doing that to see effect of changes
-
Did you get the RTR model ? As far as I know it doesnt come standard with a battery , but doubt battery would make a difference. Speed is okay for my 7 year old with the original motor. I stuck a 9T Ezrun brushless and its significantly faster - I guess it depends on your expectations.... for 100 Dollars , you cant expect 500 dollar performance.
-
I replaced the original engine- he used to ride it in the garden in the grass - it seemed not to struggle but engine burned out..... later I read they do not suggest using it in thick grass. Now he uses it on pavement, and short lawn / stoney pieces. So far he has used it about twice as long as the original engine lasted and no hassles. No other parts changed.... aerial tube broke a piece of at the top from all the flipping I guess , but no hassle , just made it shorter.
-
If I am not mistaken , version 2 has a mini USB port to update software on ESC
-
Hey , I (or rather my kid ) has one , and I aint selling so maybe its more objective Its a good piece of kit for the price ( he got the RTR) - strong chassis , motor okay ( dont use on thick grass as manual says, with brushless a beast on 4 wheels.... all in all depending what you want to do with it - basher great - if you thinking of upgrading later anything other than motor , probably better kits around. My youngster loves it , and it gives my DI a good run.

Thanks Garry...it just seems more convienient and I am sure also a lot more accurate than a body with a stopwatch.... IF IT WORKS AS IT SHOULD
-
Thanks but I thought that the Spekkie does not have a loop running the width of the track , hence the need for Trigger box..... is it Infra Red perhaps? Anyone else have any experience with this ?

Hi Got the Dx3S , and was wondering about lap timing - I didn't see a clear instruction ,so please could someone confirm the following I need to get : SPM1330 - Lap timing Trigger - stick that on the side of the track where measurement should happen SPM1305 - Electric Telemetry Combo Pack - Attach the LCD to my DX3S transmitter , and attach the lap timing cable in the car , hooked up to the receiver (SR3500 has a lap input) The other cables in the 1305 kit are for temp etc which are in the DX3s pack already Is the above correct ? Where is the best place to put the cable in the car for most accurate and relaible data ? Is the system relaible ? Are there better/cheaper solutions ? Thanks

What has been shown so far is that the M05 Pro is similar in concept to the M03 R , basically a hopped up version. I also think its 28th June
-
So , kit is out A bit more than we speculated - its USD 170 at RcMart Looks nice , but I guess , its like some people indicated above , bit of lipstick on a pig ???
-
You may consider waiting for the M05 The Pro version (with a few hop ups ) is due to be released on 28 June The M class you mention may be standard engine / tyres , but I would ask around if other hop ups are allowed , and which they have. Some of the more popular ones are shocks ( The M05 comes with clear plastic ,nice looking but easy to break , go for TRF ) , also maybe stabiliser bars , ball bearings , ball diff.

As above I was offered a great deal on a Novak Havoc ESC and a 10.5 BL motor I want to get this set s I will need it for racing in a few months time However , for the next few months I want to race the slower class ( just to get into it - first time ). They use a standard Carson Machine Cup 23T motor . I see that the Brushed limit on the Havoc ESC is 27T , but it makes no sense that such a good ESC has a min limit of 27T - effectively making it really useless for brushed motors... Anyone know if this would work or not ?
-
Thanks guys , the lipo saver I can get here costs almost as much as the ESC. I also think that it will not be a problem to discharge the Lipo in a race ,but better safe than sorry if I can at all help it So has anyone used or heard of this ESC ?
-
Need to get an ESC for Brushed motor (19T) which will handle Lipo The only one I can find in the LHS is this one; Fusion Car Podium FNBR 12T http://www.astramodel.cz/podrobnosti_prehled.php?kod=DYN4927 This one is the only one that 1) is for brushed motors 2) takes Lipo 3) doesnt cost more than my car I dont need a great one. Questions : 1) Anyone know it , is it any good for club racing (probably only a few races) ? 2) Cut of for lipo is 5,5V , is that normal ? I thought Lipo cut of should be closer to 3,5V 3) Is there a better one you can suggest in the GBP 30-40 range , maybe I can ship it quickly Thanks
-
Not ideal means there are better motors/ESC combo's , I didnt say hopelessly useless
-
What do you want to use it for ? I got the 5.5T and the 9T - Great for bashing , but not ideal for competitive racing (there are better ...and more expensive options for racing)
-
Tamiya 92XXX series are normally for Japanese market only. However there has in the past been similar kits with a 92x and another number (for Jap and world release) Even if Japanese , you may still be able to get it from the net. You are right that they not released yet , and ofhand couldnt find any date references.

I am not so much into stickers , hence that naked look - I may stick one or two more , but not the whole sheet ! TA05 - I cant really comment about handling yet , just did a couple of sprints down the street - all I can say is that with the Ezrun 5,5T brushless , it is QUICK - I would even say too quick unless you have a proper big track or a big parking lot with lery little or no stones to play with.... Thinking of putting something milder in there
-
Did you change the gearing at all ? Or did you just remove old motor , replace the pinion to the new motor , stick it in and of it goes ? Sounds like a little project is coming up....the youngster better start learning to miss the trees !
-
Yeah , I saw a you tube video of liquid mask ....seems to me the thing The next one I am hoping to do the body before I build the car , so I can take my time with it and not be rushed by the excitement of trying to get the wheels on the ground as fast as I can I was thinking M03 Mini ( although may wait for a M05 now) , or just doing another shell for this TA05
-
Not really hard. Took me a good few hours with the taping up , painting , cutting etc I had two problems 1) I didnt read the full instructions before hand and 2) I couldnt find the exact colours. If the above two were sorted , Tamiya actually supplied stickers for where the joints go , so it wouldnt really matter if it ran a bit. Anyhow , I would say there are a few tiny places where the break in paints is not 100% , but overall I am pretty chuffed with it.

Ok , so its not that great compared to some of the cars on here ,but its my first real paint job TA05 IFS , Ebbro shell Had a lot of fun doing it , can't wait for the next one... and there WILL be a next one !
