  1. Just to clarify, Gold Membership donations do not go to Modelsport, they are collected by Nick and used as he sees fit to help run the Forum site and fund prize draws etc. Modelsport are very happy to sponsor and support the Forum via hosting services and in other ways, however, in spite of this affiliation, the Forum is a totally independent resource run by Nick and excellent volunteer enthusiasts. So, on top of the benefits, becoming a Gold Member is also a good way of supporting and showing solidarity for the great community that is the MSUK-Forum!

    Win a Micro-T!

Michael Hough is the winner! His guess was 1145 and the answer is 1144. Close enough!
  4. Really well done Nick, and congratulations to all involved. It's great to see the hobby thriving in such a positive and sheer fun way. Modelsport are proud to be involved with and sponsor such a vibrant Forum, which is proving to have such great following in the virtual and real world. Long live the MSUK-Forum!
  5. OK, let's set the record straight before any more conspiracy theories evolve.... Modelsport UK is an independent company with no affiliation to any manufacturer or distributor. We decided to try the Shengqi petrol buggy as we are aware of the popularity of these and other makes of budget petrol powered models. We are also well aware of the substantial prices of HPI and other premier manufacturers products in this category of model. As the UK's biggest volume seller of HPI models (contrary to some claims by others) we naturally considered our position before deciding to stock this 'clone.' However, we felt that the only way to truly evaluate the product was to stock and sell it. As a completely independent retailer we were perfectly within our rights to stock such an item - any copyright issues would have to be resolved between the relevant manufacturers, and as far as we are aware no legal action has been taken by any party. Regardless of the perceived wrongs and rights, Modelsport UK are obviously keen to supply customer demand, but we will always take into account product quality, and we see it as an important part of our job to try and ensure that we stock only good quality items that we are happy to endorse.
  6. What's on your mind?

  7. Modelsport UK will be pleased to match DD Modelsport (no relation!) or any other bone fide UK price - please just ask. We offer free express mainland UK delivery.

    Hobbypro Mutilator

We were enthusiastic about stocking this model, but have had to sideline it for now as it didn't quite meet up to expectations when tested. Hopefully the problems we encountered can soon be resolved, because in many ways, as has been said, it's a great entry level big scale model - but it must be reliable. Nuff said for now!
  9. As far as I'm aware with Mirage having relinquished dealership there is currently no UK importer for this fuel, so we'll have to see what the future brings.
  10. Modelsport UK are now stocking a new high-spec low-price truggy from Hobbyport - here's the link: http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...mp;ItemID=26328
  11. Hi, sorry not to reply sooner - this is the info from Orion: Black Demon Fuel has been developed especially for high performance RC engines. Produced by a European leader in fuel manufacturing in France, it includes all the benefits of the most modern chemistry and fuel technology. Each batch of Team Orion Black Demon is analyzed before filling the containers, and then a sample is stored for our reference and to make sure the quality is constant throughout each year. The batch number is written on all containers to allow tracing each batch after it has been sold. Competition is the best test for fuel, and drivers like Atsushi Hara have won the ROAR 1/10 touring car national with Black Demon fuel. The exact same fuel TQd the 1/8th IFMAR buggy World Championships and is also used world wide by racers and hobby drivers. Competition Fuel Black Demon 16%: This fuel is the choice for EFRA 1/10 touring car limited to 16% nitro. It can also be used for all other classes if the deal is to have a very good fuel with a great price. Great for all the monster trucks! Competition Fuel Black Demon 25%: Used by many 1/8 scale buggy drivers, this provides more power for all Monster Truck and Truggies, expect some serious power! All formulas feature film strength additives, anti-oxidants, igniters, and detergents, plus: Non-foaming agent to keep foam to a minimum allowing longer and more consistent run sessions Wetting agent allows lubricant package to flow more evenly into bearings Factory testing and development by the best nitro racers in the world. To be honest we've bought a job lot off Mirage as they're not going to continue stocking this fuel - they already have Tornado and I think there would be a conflict of interest. I'm reliably informed that the fuel is similar formula to Byron. Like Nicad and NiMh batteries there is a lot of variety of opinions regarding model fuel, and many myths - all I can say is that this fuel is selling very well and everyone seems happy with it, particularly at the price!
  12. Modelsport UK have got a special price deal going on Orion Black Demon 16% and 25% competition fuel. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...CategoryID=4030 These prices are a limited special offer which makes this top quality fuel a real bargain buy!
  13. I'm afraid we're advised by Traxxas UK that it won't be for sale in the UK until next year, which is a shame, but we'll stock it as soon as it is.
  14. We're having a clearout auction of old Kyosho parts on eBay. This is the link: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/MODELSPORT-UK-Lea...1QQftidZ2QQtZkm There's a lot of old stuff, far too much really, but hopefully the lots will be of use to somebody somewhere! Cheers, Howi.
  15. Thanks to everyone who entered this competition. Judging is a really difficult job when there can only be one winner, as we thought many of the entries were very good. We were impressed by the overall quality - quite a number were on our short list, but a decision had to be made, so congratulations to smallman28. You're probably right about Wild Wendy, she certainly added some 'wow' factor!
  16. Hi Guys, Just like to say what a great effort you've all made. I know most of you don't know me, but as Nick says I am the owner of Modelsport UK along with my wife Sue. However, Modelsport is now much bigger than just 2 people, and we have a lot of really great guys working with us - well, truth be told, they more or less run the show these days! But the old man still keeps an active interest, and I'm far from retired. I'll be talking with Nick about the entries, and we'll make a decision asap. I think it's a great idea. I know we at Modelsport don't get involved with this Forum, but that's not because we don't think it's excellent, it's just that we're really busy doing our job! We used to run our own Forum in times past, but one way and another it became a big hassle (Nick and a few of you will remember) so we had to give it up to concentrate on just getting on with the business. Now you guys are doing such a great job it's a pleasure to be associated with you, and we're more than happy to promote the forum with this carding idea, which I think will bring a lot of new members. Cheers everyone, Howi.

    Visa Electron

OK, I said the situation may change, but didn't expect it to do so this quick!... GOOD NEWS! - coincidentally the banks have amazingly just now decided that Electron is OK for mail order transactions, so we can now accept it for any value order (subject of course to the usual security checks). Rock on Electron!!

    Visa Electron

OK, guys, we're as fed up with the Visa Electron issue as you are! Basically, it's a grey area as Visa issue these cards in the UK purely for 'cardholder present' transactions. This means that in principal they are not endorsed by the banks for mail order transactions. However, we are very much aware that a lot of you guys want to use an Electron card to buy mail order. So we've undertaken to run a trial whereby, until further notice, we will accept Visa Electron, subject to the usual security checks, for mail order purchases up to £50 value. We hope this will help us all, and at least then every one knows where they stand. This situation may change, but we will keep you informed. We apologise for the confusion this issue has caused. Modelsport UK are a fully committed e-commerce company, and don't offer PayPal as a payment option, other than for occasional e-Bay transactions. This is primarily because of the very significant charges that PayPal incur. As far as our prices are concerned, we're very aware of how competitive the market place is and we're continually working to retain our pole position in this highly competitive arena... (plus we still intend to make a living, keep trading and pay our suppliers and workforce!). We take your comments very seriously, and like to think we're reactive. You may have noticed that we are now offering free postage to most of the UK on orders over £40. We've recently made some changes to the website design and interface, and we're in the process of adding many more product images. We are also currently working on an internet discount initiative, WebCut, which should go live later this week... so keep an eye out! It's great to see this forum being so well used, and offering so much info, and we're always interested to receive your feedback - we do our best to accept criticism with humility and respond positively!
  19. As a way of supporting all you guys on this great forum, which is certainly going from strength to strength, Modelsport UK are offering free vouchers with our models, plus 10% discount on all our other products for forum members when you spend over £100. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...=msukforum.html We do our best to be as competitive as possible (and still stay in business!), and we'll also price match where we can, so please give us the opportunity to serve you! Drop us an email to [email protected] if you've got a query. Hope lots of you will take advantage of these offers!

Modelsport will be doing more on eBay as time allows - we've got quite a lot of stuff to put on, particularly old or discontinued lots of spares and hop ups. When we've more on we'll give a shout. Good to see the Forum's kicking!
