  1. Yacht sold, Hummer and Mini Mono still for sale. Offers accepted.. looking for a 1/16th Heng Long tank (doesn't need to be working or complete .. just need lower chassis, all road wheels, tracks and gearboxes.. upper hull not needed)
  2. Well needs must so these have to go.. Tamiya Hummer It has had some damage repaired on the shell then sprayed up in camouflage, the front body mounts aren't as kit they are posts through the shell. The wheels are Junfac beadlocks, (wheelnut covers are not included, nor is the motor and esc). Will make for a great runner.
  3. Im gutted, just fitted my new Castle Creations short course edition brushless and took it to my local club to give it a thrash. A few minutes into the race I lost steering, then smoke and finally flames. A quick thinking club member grabbed it and took it outside. It was well ablaze and thanks to the difficult battery access I couldn't get the lipo out so the whole truck was alight. Turns out after it all cooled down I was able to strip it down and find that the rolling chassis is mostly ok apart from the centre diff and motor mount, the cage and shell is toast as is the new esc but motor is just a bit smoke damaged. After looking at the battery I ran previously it appears that something was chaffing on it (probably the servo arm) so the second battery must have been damaged more, yes I was running soft case lipos and that's a lesson learned albeit an expensive one. Just after it was put out by a C02 extinguisher Resulting damage.
  4. Sorry for lack of posts lately I have had no computer nor access to internet.. thankfully that's all sorted. Shell is off to Hydrowrap for "paint", the chassis has been painted black and a small rear tray for the back. I have got some aluminium stock to have a small fuel tank made.
  5. Mostly from ebay, but local modelshops can help too (modelsport seem to have a good range) bit of a warning it isnt cheap LOL.
  6. Thanks, and sorry taken so long to reply. Im really enjoying this one and seriously now looking at trying to sort a rusty/worn paint look for it.. along with shiny chrome. Been working trying to get rid of all the joins etc I have put in. Starting to get there now, picked up a set of fenders for it and some nice shiny stacks.
  7. Just a silver can and the 3 speed transmission. It is top heavy and a hard plastic shell worth a fair bit so Im not planning on racing this, its just a race look and a load for my other King Hauler.
  8. Almost done, just waiting on some mirror brackets to arrive.
  9. Getting there now. Stacks done and mounted as is the visor. Just got to sort the steps and all the wiring and its pretty much there.
  10. It got put on hold whilst I finished my three trucks which need doing before an upcoming show, it will be finished soon.
  11. Front bumper, air cleaners, roof spoiler, roll bar fitted.
  12. This was inspired by a build by Tamiya Cowboys, on RC Truck and construction, speedy race truck "Haulin Ass". I had the running gear from a Globe Liner set aside that I was originally planning a Bus build BUT it had sat in a box for over a year and I couldnt see it progressing any further than the box. I would need a load for my trailer (when I get round to that build) so I figured a race truck was the ideal build and off we went. Rails were bought along with other bits (I believed they were truck rails but turned out to be highlift). Shell was cut and lowered a little over rails and then painted Kawasaki Green (to match my King Hauler). Logos were made by my local Grafix shop who are always helping me get projects finished so seemed only fair that I put their logo on the truck along with the guy who painted and dipped my other truck. Shell isnt sat quite right on the chassis in the photos, sat too far back and too high at the front.
  13. Thanks all, @Bodgemonkey I got it from an ebay seller in Hong Kong... the axle is made by Jazrider (www.jazrider.com) I was able to test drive the rod yesterday and the 55turn motor is too slow so will be putting a silver can back in.
  14. Thanks for the comments Front axle arrived today, bought it as it was a cheaper option than a Tamiya one with all the knuckles etc and am very happy with it the finish and work on it is superb. Just mounted at moment with a pair of leaf springs but i think i will be fitting some links under the chassis too. Front wheels are standard King Hauler but inner bead cut off so that the Tamiya Buggy Champ fronts arent too stretched. I have also fitted a HPI wheelyking crawler inline reduction gearbox with a 55t motor. Standard King Hauler Body mounts have been fitted too so the body is secure to chassis now.
  15. To be honest I dont think its getting full rat treatment, dont think I could do the rust bit. So going with a shiny job, more a rod than a rat rod I suppose.
  16. Bit done on the chassis, not running any rear suspension so was easy enough to make a bracket to bolt axle on. Sat the shell on, which has now been stripped of paint and some filler put on. Still loads to do!
  17. Didnt hurt me at all chap , first cut was the hardest after that it was sod it started now LOL.
  18. Dunno why but just loved the idea of this and I havent seen one done (although no doubt someone here has done). I acquired another King Hauler shell and other bits n bobs and today started on the body. Started off with this.. So off with the sleeper.. Then off with the wheelarches Now for a roof chop, figured easiest way is to go with the width of masking tape to ensure I got it the same all way round.. and to be honest its worked out really well, not too much in the way of any gaps. Now I was going to mod the roof to fit the truck body which would mean cutting it in half and adding a piece but looking at it I figured that shortening the door by 5mm would be much easier which I have now done. This is a general idea of layout I plan for..
  19. Slow progress as per usual, mainly slowed up by the lack of drop visor, exhausts and rear plate still waiting to be chromed. but siince those last photos I have managed to build much more onto it and get it into the sun. Those green mirrors will be replaced with chrome ones shortly. and the wiring will be hidden and tidy when completed. I did get some stainless mesh and finished off my air cleaners, think they look the danglies. And I have started another project (a daycab ) and have plans for a special project which Im collecting bits for it should be different (more so than this one)
  20. It is hydrodipped chap yes, wanted something different, and this is different.
  21. At long last my cab and fenders are back and almost ready for build up, just got to leave them till tomorrow to let lacquer fully cure. And to say Im happy with the result is an understatement I guess it was worth the wait. Probably not to everybodies test but I love it. Photos dont do it justice as Im struggling with getting photos from camera onto my new pc (linux which i have never used doesnt seem to like my SD card) so using my iphone. As you can see I have also started making some aluminium steps, just have to have the little airtank made to sit on top of it. I designed an aircleaner to be made by a mate on his small lathe, he has done it and what a job...
  22. @heavyleftthumb... the missus keeps nagging me to build one for one of her lorries. Time is dragging on and still no cab back, nor any chrome . I have started collecting some more bits including aluminium to make steps instead of using the stock plastic ones. I did receive another King Hauler cab for the next project (yup thinking of another before even finishing this one LOL) so decided to mount it on chassis to see what it will look like, taped the aluminium grille on too.
  23. This is slow going as waiting on the cab to come back but here's a little teaser...
  24. After a year of running it with all chrome blacked out and a dark blue colour scheme I fancied a change. This is how it looked A few months back I stripped it all back to parts, and set out on changing things. I planned to get new chrome parts but that was really expensive and then I found a place near me that does this chroming technique that is close to a paint type application but has an amazing finish (you will see as soon as I get them all back.) I also got him to paint the cab and chassis for me in Kawasaki green (he is doing something special for me on the cab itself, more about that at a later date. The chassis was lengthened by 6inch using an aluminium extension sourced from PMD (gardentrucking.com) I painted the gearbox halves in silver to look a little more like a motor. The tanks are solid aluminium and I got them for a snip on ebay, the front bumper is a PMD item again in aluminium. The grille is an aluminium RC4WD item. The 5th wheel is also aluminium. Once all together this is how it is looking at the moment, its as much as I can do till I get cab and chrome back.
