Went and got mine from Tesco's at 21:30 this evening. Walked in and said "Do you have any PS3's?" "Yes, lots" was the reply. It certainly looks a lot classier than the 360, and I'm looking forward to putting Linux on it at some point. Just got Motorstorm to start with, but I'll be downloading Gran Turismo HD soon. Bit disappointed it doesn't come with component cables as standard (as the 360 has these included) so I'll be off out to buy a set tomorrow, along with a USB keyboard. I would guess that it isn't possible to go beyond the edge... or that possibly to look at it would drive you insane lol. As to whether or not the centre moves constantly, I'd say probably not. The rest just gets further away from it. If indeed it was a big bang, then if you think of it in terms of a stick of dynamite exploding, then where the stick was would still be at the centre, with the result of the explosion throwing matter outwards.

There is no edge as its still expanding? You mean if it stopped expanding it would suddenly have an edge? I'm perfectly aware that black holes are caused by a star collapsing, although some other suitably dense collection of matter would work... why does that mean there couldn't be a black hole at the centre of the universe?

If its expanding then surely it can't be infinite... ie it must have an edge for us to judge that its expanding. And I'd say yes you can cry underwater, but you wouldn't be able to tell.

I don't understand how having a camera in a shop makes it any more likely to be broken in to? Its an RC shop... and shock horror... it has RC cars in there. You need a camera to work that out?

Just had it in for some warranty work today actually. First thing thats needed doing though. Had the anti-roll bar links replaced. Only problem I've had in 11,000 miles.

Not if the blackhole had developed well after the creation of the universe. Even blackholes have a finite gravitational influence.

I didn't know gravity had a specific design function... surely the only way that gravity would have any effect on slowing the expansion of the universe would be if there was a huge mass at the very centre of the universe, like a super black hole or collection of them. What if the nothingness that the universe is expanding into has almost a suction effect, like the dispersion of air in a vacuum?

That would depend on whether the big bang created enough energy for the universe to have expanded past the point of no return... and if the universe is expanding, what does the edge look like?
