  1. Sorry if this reply has taken a while but Spektrum gear is not a speciality of mine. I have yet to go down the 2.4 route myself. But regarding servos take a look at the Horizon DS821 as they will be more than adequate for a trainer. Look here servoshop Steve Webb models own servo shop and steve webbs is VERY highly regarded for most things RC For the RX , did you not get one with the TX ? If not I would seriously reccomend that you buy a Spektrum one so at least you will know they are compatible ! They are also to be found on that link if you do a search for Spektrum when on the site . Hope this info is of some help and hope you enjoy your journey into Rc flying Shane ps I am currently building a 120" wingspan Stinson reliant and when I get my act together I will update the build on here
  2. Well it's been a while since I updated this thread but I have been busy on the plane . The fus is about 70% there now and the wings are 90% so it's coming on quite well at the moment . I have assembled it for the first time outside just to get a feel for the size of it and as a resuly I have had to buy a new car as there is no way this will come close to fitting into the motor I have now ! Anyways I waffle on so here is a pic of where I am now
  3. I and everyone else have a national insurance number from birth , well when you are registered as born. Anyway I digress I paint cars (full size) for a living and have been doing so for over 15 years now . So I have an interest in painting and finishing both full size and models . I use an airbrush (Iwata) but not to the extent that some do on here and I doff my cap to the real artists using them
  4. Ta for that Mr t . I dare say you have seen it on here but am currently building a 120" Stinson reliant and will post progress reports as I go along . I have a list of next builds in the pipeline .First is a Fairey gannet with working folding wings and actual fairey flaps (only took 3 months to work those out ) ! Then there is a 170" Bleriot and also a 1/3 scale Pfalz DIII which has to get (somewhere ) priority over the rest ! Going to be a busy year and then some !! Shane
  5. I have not found the spell checker yet but I did give up on that post after 3 lines as it was doing my head in trying to read it ! Sorry but I am no anorack on grammer and spelling but that was appaling !
  6. For anyone interested these 2 large models will be flying at RAF Cosford this weekend at the LMA (large model association) Show held there . Not sure of prices off the top of my head but its about a tenner to get in . Google for RAF Cosford for directions but its on the A41 just outside of Wolverhampton
  7. Theory is easy if you apply common sense to every situation and question. Hazard awareness needs practice which can onlt really be gained from experience . Take a look here and see if it gives you an idea . there is only one clip to work on but they do offer the whole lot for a price ! See how you get on hazard
  8. Hi Steve Love that biplane , who's is it and is it as looks leccy power ? Could do with something like that to keep in the car for those times I cant be bothered to spend an hour loading it up with the big ones ! Shane
  9. I would think realistically it should be ready for painting around november this year . I only have time to work on it on a sunday due to work but tend to find once I start I keep going untill it gets dark which can be quite late at this time of the year
  10. Nah that's not huge , These are HUGE !! Both fantastic RC models which are owned and flown superbly by Ali Machinsky (spelling ?) Mine doesnt come close I am afraid . Regarding the painting , it will be done at work in a spraybooth for the main black coat then the coulours and trim will be painted in the workshop at home with an airbrush . Shane
  11. Introducing my latest build . This is a Stinson reliant shown below and the paint scheme is how I intend on her looking when she is finished and painted by myself . The size of the model is 120" wingspan and is being built from a plan with planks of balsa wood and ply of varying thickness's cut to shape each individual part . The power plant for this is a Zenoah twin cylinder 80cc petrol engine .Which should be adequate to pull this about the sky in a scale like fashion . So far I have just about finished construction of the wings leaving only small jobs on them to complete . 2 more pics showing progress so far . More updates as and when available Shane
  12. Thanks for the kind words of welcome . I did send Nick a pm as I saw his plea for help Shane
  13. Thanks to ther members who have Pm me . Sorry but I don't want any PX for other models / items . I am trying to create space as its badly needed . Shane
  14. Up for grabs as I need the space This model really needs no introduction as it has to be one of the best large Baja's out there . But roughly it is 32" long with a 26 cc petrol engine. It comes complete with the radio gear you see in the pics and a whole tin full of spares and the tools that came with the kit . Also included is the HPI tuned pipe which is not fitted at the moment due to noise limitations where I run it. There is a Hi-Tec 6 channel Laser 6 Tx included along with a Hitec Rx (can't remember the model) And full instruction book . This was all brought new for Christmas just gone but unfortunatley I just do not have room for it anymore as my plane building is taking over my storage and workshop area so it's got to go ! I located in the West midlands (Stourbridge ) and would appreciate if it sells that it is either picked up or a meet up is arranged as postage would be a tad
