keepin your modem on allows them to see its a stable line which they then reduce your category and your noise drops which means more speed, if u keep switching your modem off they see it as a fault and increase ur category meaning more Noise (Db)

the less noise margin on youline and the lower DB means less interference and more speed, if you ever need to switch the modem off go into the settings and do a proper disconnect
