i live near herts nitro model club
-
i purchased a savage one, didn't fit the standard bearings.
The stock bearings are 5x11x4mm, but i will need 5x10x4mm bearings for the savage clutchbell to fit.

The aluminium shoes aren't fantastic as aluminium has weaker inter-molecular bonds than most other metals
This basicly means that it is easy for bits of it to scrape off. Hence why the clutches in my gearboxes will be steel
cos the outermost electrons in a P orbital isn't it lol
intermolecular bonding is strong in aluminium its a giant metallic lattice mate! loool
I found the aluminium long life shoes were crap as there were layers of aluminium left on the clutchbell, and they slipped a lot more than the standard graphite type ones.

bloody hell you're right...and to think my old lsp2 had all of those parts on it...dam
-
Loads of places
Just ordered som bearings and a rear driveshaft
-
why is some of the stuff on wheelspin absolutely rediculously stupidly overpriced...
almost
-
why did you buy new bearings?
did the old ones fail?
-
argh, thats not nice man
-
Hi, anyone have two of these?
Its for the clutchbell.
-
the .28 is a high torque engine, a 14T clutchbell on it is absolutely rediculous, there is just no load for the engine.
You need a 17T+ bell on it so the engine can use it's torque, you will find acceleration remains unaffected, but top speed is stupendous.
-
I've got an 18T , will just drill new mounts in the chassis for it.
-
There was a stone stuck in between the flywheel and the chassis!! All work fine now
-
I thought these 2.4ghz systems are designed for stupidly long range , as in for a good 1/2 mile or so
My 27Mhz does over 100 yards
-
Do you mean sell the engine?
Most unlikely as I'll take off the backplate tomorrow and if it's broken will claim it under hpi warranty.
-
Thanks for the rapid replys guys
Will take the backplate off and let you guys know.
If Conroe has snapped, would you be able to supply me with HPi's phone number so I can call them tomorrow IF it is the Conrod which has snapped
Cheers a lot guys

Hi guys, wandering if you could help me out here
Was driving the car and the engine stopped
checked it, and i try pull the pullstarter and it doesn't budge, i try spin the flywheel and it doesn't spin. The clutch isn't jammed as the wheels all still spin.
I've taken the glowplug out and tried to turn it over, but no luck.
It is a HPI F4.6 which comes in the trophy 4.6, its only about 3 weeks old and its on its ~6 tank.
Any ideas on how to free it up so i can start it again, or shall i claim it under HPI 2 year warranty (anyone have any idea on how to claim for this?)
Thanks

ive come to the conclusion that i need a 5x10x4
-
would anyone be able to tell me the diameter of the crankshaft
as i purchased an 18T HPI clutchbell but the bearings which come with the truggy are too large,
i've measure the bearing size for the bearing i need to fit the 18T, its 10mmx5mmx???? i need the last figure which is the internal diameter of the bearing but not sure what this should be.
Cheers

i'd keep a spare servo and clutch

Just to add to what Harjun said, the stock ones are a 2 piece part alloy, part plastic cap (in his pic the brown bit is alloy and the black is plastic), it's the plastic part that can explode if you land a large jump with thicker oil (just ask Smithy111)..
The alloy ones are a all alloy single piece cap..
I'm still waiting for mine to come in from wheelspin.. HPI Europe had them in stock not too long ago and I'm tempted to order them direct and just sell the others when they finally show up..
i got mine from roundabout RC, but they're out of stock now
-
Already got a few hump packs , 28 engine and fancy pipe , I've seen those edit rear hubs on hpi Europe for
-
Aren't the standard shock caps alloy? If not what benefit would you get from changing?
nope, they're not, the bit which attatches the top of the schock to the rear of the car is plastic.
When i rolled, mine snapped off, here's a picture to help see what happened.
I'm guessing the ally ones are stronger
CLICK ON THE IMAGE TO MAKE IT LARGER
THE BLACK BIT IS PLASTIC ON THE STOCK ONES.

would strongly recommend a hump pack and edit hubs, as well as a set of aluminium shock caps.
This is what i have upgraded on my car so far, really happy with it
