  1. The aluminium shoes aren't fantastic as aluminium has weaker inter-molecular bonds than most other metals

This basicly means that it is easy for bits of it to scrape off. Hence why the clutches in my gearboxes will be steel :whistling:

cos the outermost electrons in a P orbital isn't it lol

intermolecular bonding is strong in aluminium its a giant metallic lattice mate! loool

I found the aluminium long life shoes were crap as there were layers of aluminium left on the clutchbell, and they slipped a lot more than the standard graphite type ones.

  2. Thanks for the rapid replys guys

Will take the backplate off and let you guys know.

If Conroe has snapped, would you be able to supply me with HPi's phone number so I can call them tomorrow IF it is the Conrod which has snapped

    Cheers a lot guys

  3. Hi guys, wandering if you could help me out here

Was driving the car and the engine stopped

checked it, and i try pull the pullstarter and it doesn't budge, i try spin the flywheel and it doesn't spin. The clutch isn't jammed as the wheels all still spin.

I've taken the glowplug out and tried to turn it over, but no luck.

It is a HPI F4.6 which comes in the trophy 4.6, its only about 3 weeks old and its on its ~6 tank.

Any ideas on how to free it up so i can start it again, or shall i claim it under HPI 2 year warranty (anyone have any idea on how to claim for this?)

    Thanks

  4. would anyone be able to tell me the diameter of the crankshaft

as i purchased an 18T HPI clutchbell but the bearings which come with the truggy are too large,

i've measure the bearing size for the bearing i need to fit the 18T, its 10mmx5mmx???? i need the last figure which is the internal diameter of the bearing but not sure what this should be.

    Cheers

  5. Just to add to what Harjun said, the stock ones are a 2 piece part alloy, part plastic cap (in his pic the brown bit is alloy and the black is plastic), it's the plastic part that can explode if you land a large jump with thicker oil (just ask Smithy111)..

The alloy ones are a all alloy single piece cap..

I'm still waiting for mine to come in from wheelspin.. HPI Europe had them in stock not too long ago and I'm tempted to order them direct and just sell the others when they finally show up..

i got mine from roundabout RC, but they're out of stock now :)

  6. Aren't the standard shock caps alloy? If not what benefit would you get from changing?

nope, they're not, the bit which attatches the top of the schock to the rear of the car is plastic.

When i rolled, mine snapped off, here's a picture to help see what happened.

I'm guessing the ally ones are stronger

THE BLACK BIT IS PLASTIC ON THE STOCK ONES.
