  1. Dunno anything about XRC but I have the Pick Up version of the Hummer and have no complaints.
  2. Was it just plain Thunder before you got the ShenQi? sorry couldn't resist I've got one too and also suffered a broken wheel but I'm sure it was the roll that broke the wheel, on second thoughts your way sounds better I have to be honest and say, touch wood, I've had no problems. It's run 5 or 6 tanks now and goes like the proverbial bat out of hell. Sure there have been breakages, a wishbone when I stuffed it into the garage wall, the shell wrecked, but stuck together with supertape, when I drove it under the car. You get the idea All in all I'm pretty happy with it and the more I use it the happier I get. At least now I've got the hang of sliding it into corners, avoiding it spending more time on it's roof than it's wheels! I guess it's a case of you get what you pay for, anyone spending half the money and expecting all the quality will always be disappointed. For a bit of fun and no hassle I would be happy to recommend one based on my experience but I'm no serious racer, just enjoy a bit of fun on a Sunday with a few of them up the hill. Oh and BTW on the site it says "many" not "most" and in my experience slagging off a company's product on the web is not the best way to get your money back BR Cal
  3. I'd rather run a new engine at 20:1 rather than 33:1, that said, too much oil would give different symptoms. I've never seen a 2-stroke lock up solid with too much oil. Personally I only mix as I need and try to use fresh every outing. I am possibly/probably totally wrong, as I said above this is experience of engines a lot bigger than we are discussing here. Any expert on the little ones who can set me right? Cal BTW, Regarding Peaheaduk's other post, I broke a wheel yesterday too
  4. Oil mix certainly sounds OK. Have I got this right? Engine was running and stopped solid, then after a while you could turn it over again and start it? Only for it to "go solid" again after a few seconds? If that is the case, I would be lifting the barrel to have a look. This experience is from 2-stroke bike engines not model ones. I am assuming that the basics are the same. A broken ring maybe? Cal
  5. Hope I'm wrong but it sounds to me like the engine is "nipping up", seizing and when it cools down a bit freeing off again. What oil and at what ratio have you been running? Cal
  6. Thanks guys Damo, Forfar, home of the Bridie
  7. Hello Found the site a couple of days ago, it's a good one, and have been browsing and searching non-stop Bought myself a ShenQi a couple of weeks ago, just for fun nothing serious famous last words. Only 3 tanks of fuel so far but all's well. No doubt I'll be back with some questions/pleas for help when I start to break it But for the time being it'll be a lurker's life for me, Cheers
