  1. First thing to do is check that quoted facts are actually facts. Both sides of the argument will manipulate data to suit their own ends and the Scottish people will be manipulated by both sides. I've read arguments that all of the UK should be able to vote on independance as it will affect us all but how they would do that with the population difference is anyones guess. If Scotland decides to go it alone then good luck to them/you but I fear reality is far different than the rosiness portrayed by Salmond and his sidekicks!
  2. Of course but it would appease a lot of people up north to know that London was not the center of the UK political universe. The houses of parliament may cost up to
  3. Good point, maybe Parliament should be moved north to Birmingham or Manchester and then the MP's may gain a broader understanding of modern life in the UK. I suspect that those who pursue power as an MP are the last one's who should really have it!
  4. I do wonder what the current government are planning should independance happen. I imagine they will try to make life as difficult as possible for the Scots until Salmond is ousted and the decision reversed. I can't see them giving up the oil revenue easily and it wouldn't be that hard to bring all the military bases back down south as there are plenty of unused sites here. I did laugh when a pro-independance MP said they intended to use the pound rather than the Euro. As the Bank of England would set interest rates, they would be setting the rates for a competitor. If the remainder of the UK then pulled out of Europe, Scotland would be isolated from Europe for the road transportation of goods. Prices would rise, goods would become expensive and the Scottish economy would take a nose dive. Divorces are rarely pretty!
  5. Good to get some opinions from across the border
  6. I can understand Scots not wanting to be controlled by Westminster, after all who does, but am I alone in thinking that Salmond is doing this to massage his own super-inflated ego rather than for the good of the Scottish people? I worked for a Scottish based company for years and most people I spoke to thought the guy was a joke as they said it was a no-brainer that we were stronger together. This guy seems to be hell bent on pushing Scotland towards independance regardless of the real outcome of this change so how has a 'joke' gained so much power? Pandering to the disaffected probably helps but when two-thirds of those polled are against it, he still carries on!
  7. I like this one from around the same time. http://darwinawards.com/darwin/darwin1995-04.html
  8. Urban myth that's done the rounds for years. http://www.snopes.co...echno/radar.asp
  9. Trouble with the older cars is that good ones are getting rarer and rarer and most have now been messed with in some way. Mine is all original except for a towbar and has all the history from new. It needs some rust sorting on the pillar, a new exhaust and the abs fault fixed but I will get it done. The bug eyes were ugly but I wouldn't mind one of the last 2 litre blob eyes from around 05. Just some remapping and decent plugs can bring these up to 250hp quite easily.
