  1. mamba setup is now SOLD but the losi setup is still very much open to any realistic offers
  2. Happy belated new year to one and all. Hope everyone's had a good festive period. Thought I'd have a bit of a clearout of my garage today and found 2 1/18th brushless motor and ESC setups. The first is a Losi Xcelorin 7400Kv combo. Included in the original box is the Electronic Speed Control unit, brushless motor, manual, programming/setup software CD, USB adaptor and quick programming card. I did install it into my MIni LST2 but could never get the hang of setting it up. I then went credit-card mad and bought a Castle Creations Mamba MicroPro 6800Kv brushless combo. I'd heard that this system was easier to use but again, I struggled to get my little truck running properly. Everything that's needed is included in the box. The only thing I can't find is the CD but the software is easily obtainable from the internet. Plus, from reading the instruction manual, this software seems to be optional. The ESC can be programmed manually without this software. So there you go guys. Both of these setups are ready to go. I thought that maybe someone out there has been good last year and Santa had bought some new toys to be play with. As I've already mentioned, the problem is all mine. I'm sure that these motors would be brilliant for someone who has a bit more RC clout than me (which, to be honest, wouldn't be difficult!). If anyone is interested, I'd probably be looking for about
  3. afternoon guys and girls. a few months ago, i bought a losi mini lst2 after selling all my nitro cars due to my distinct lack of patience with their maintenance. it's a proper little lump of fun but i got a bit greedy so i decided to upgrade to brushless and bought a xcelorin 7400kv brushless combo for it. after installing the new motor, the little truck ran really erratically. there didn't seem to be any real control from the transmitter. for example, when i accelerate then back off, the truck would carry on going at speed for a second or two. i've tried to reset the esc and re-bind the esc but i'm still having the same problem. i've even tried to change the setting of the esc using the program card but i'm still having the same problem. because of this, i haven't properly run the truck due to my fear of watching my truck fly down the road uncontrollably. i am so eager to run it because when i run the truck in my hands, it feels really quick. any tips would be much appreciated. paul.
  4. the car's nearly a year old and to be honest, it was my first foray into nitro cars so it's taken a bit of a beating. and yeah, everything's tight on it. it does turn over but not as much as it did when i had it running. that's why i thought the pullstart was on the way out. there's hardly any resistance hence my wonder about compression.
  5. evening guys and girls. my little kyosho fazer is one sick car. unfortunately, in simple terms, it won't start. when i pull the pullstart, it seemed really easy. no force was holding back the pullstart as i was tugging on it. this led me to thinking the pullstart was on the way out. ordered a new one, fitted it but i'm still having the same problem. could this be a more serious problem with the engine? there's fuel getting into the carb. the glowplug is burning nice and good as well. i know someone mentioned to me that you should be able to lift the car up by the pullstart, demonstrating that the engine has good compression. i can still do this but it just doesn't feel as tight as it did when i had the car running. any ideas???
  6. actually guys, at the mo, you could hijack this thread and i'm not sure that it'd bother me! just got back from the local industrial estate with the savage. started it with the wheels off the ground. managed to get the engine warmed up enough to put it on the ground and get it moving. doing my figure-of-8s, nothing more than 1/4 throttle. after a few minutes of gentleness, it was sounded really choked so i wound the hsn 1/8th of a turn clockwise. send it on its way again and what happens...my first wheelie! it frightened the life out of me! literally, i only gave it about 1/3rd throttle and it flew. i'm a tad excited because i'm used to my fazer and my inferno. obviously it drives so differently...it's mad! so again...cheers guys. your help has been invaluable. and yeah, engines eating spur gears ain't a good thing and far more serious. have had spur gear problems on my inferno so yeah, not good. one last question before i disappear. after-run oil...someone mentioned that a squirt of wd40 into the top of the engine then turn the engine over a few times will do just as good. right or wrong?
  7. you must be psychic...i was only looking at hump packs online a couple of hours ago! yep, this is definitely next on my list. here's some positive news, have actually just run the savage on the ground. cheers creamsodauk...your little method worked. managed to get it to crawl around the patio in the garden. weird thing is, every so often, i was losing all throttle response. squeezing the trigger on the transmitter was momentarily doing nothing at the truck. it did come back after a gentle push up the backside of the truck so yeah, hopefully new batteries might cure that problem. hey, who's bored of seeing new bluesbloke messages every hour or so today?!?!?!
  8. ok, will give that method a go once i've got more batteries for the radio gear. this truck is costing me a bomb on wasted fuel, glow plugs, batteries etc...and if ain't even got dirty yet! cheers again for all the advice, people. as you can see from my newly-edited signature, i ain't having fun with the truck at the mo but hopefully, with my patience still in one piece, i'll get there...
  9. i've tried that. i've got through so many glow plugs, it's unbelievable. i was even told to run a tank through with the charger left on. not sure how much good that'll do to the glow plug. i'll try the revving thing. all i want the thing to do is move! i've done half tanks, three-quarters of a tank of it just idling and it'll still stall. as for leaning it out, i've gone about half a turn from standard but am a bit wary of going any further. i can get it to rev when i'm holding it in the air but as soon as the wheels meet the ground, it dies. should i be brave ref the needles or am i right to be hesitant?
  10. that's the problem though. i can't even get the truck to move. the slightest hint of throttle and it stalls. can i adjust the hsn even though the engine hasn't had a chance to warm up? or should i be adjusting the lsn just to get it to move?
  11. right, i'm back guys asking for a tad more advice (cue the moans and groans...newbie's back!!!). got the savage started...brilliant! got it idling nicely, even after the glow start has been removed...fantastic! trouble now is, as soon as i give it the slightest bit of throttle, the truck stalls. i'm guessing that it is running seriously rich because when i last ran it for a full tank, virtually the whole tank ended up on the tarmac. and as the truck moved for a grand total of about 10 feet, it was a slippery patch of road! after reading other posts on the forum, the glow plug may be part of the problem so i'm now waiting for back up plugs to arrive. also, as i'm thinking that i need to weaken the hsn (the needles are still at bog standard), is it wise to start winding in the hsn and/or lsn so soon after i've just managed to run through a couple of tanks with the wheels off the ground? cheers again in advance for any words of wisdom
  12. martin and rok.my.sox...you are the dog's doodahs!!!! took your advice guys. before, i was priming the engine and what i thought was fuel in the lines was actually fresh air. when i was blowing, i noticed a huge air bubble coming out of the tank towards the carb. kept blowing until that bubble met the carb. carried on for a bit longer, attached the rotostart and bang...fired up straight away! if you guys were local, you'd definitely be getting a crate of something your way. cheers again guys! and as for your good self neilljj, i really do appreciate your offers of help. i've actually been a member of this forum longer than you-know-where but i was, to be totally honest, embarrassed about asking another totally newbie request on that message board. at the mo, my days are taken up with work and taking my old man to see my mum in southend hospital so bashing and lakeside have had to be moved to the back burner at the mo. mind you, i might try my darnest to make lakeside this thursday just to shake your hand and thank you for your generous offers. cheers again guys. you saved my new savage from a fate worse than death...ebay!!!!!
